Pokemon. Why?

Way back when I was five (I feel so old!), I noticed an episode from the first season was on tv and decided to check it out(Pokemon Tower episode. I think it was a new episode when I saw it). I was interested and started watching the show regularly. A month or two later, I bought my first Pokemon game, Pokemon Red Version. I've been a fan of both the show and the games ever since.
 
I started my Pokemon fandom when I picked up a book in the library, I think. Then I started to get interested, and I borrowed some more. (Hey, I was really young, you can't blame me for reading for fun). Then I started to really like Pokemon and bought a video game, then bought some more and found some other cool stuff. Then we got married.

And then... it's just a fun little hobby for me, I guess. Its fun, and it totally wastes your time. :D

What did TVs ever do to you...?
 
Well, so I was at daycare when I was 6, and this girl changed to the channel to Pokemon. Pikachu was full of win, so I watched the show for a while. Then I collected the cards. After that, I got red and blue and played them until Red broke and transferred all my pokemon from Blue to Gold. I played the 3rd gen and quit. After realizing Diamond and Pearl had Wifi, I got back into it, because competitive from a DS is much more accessible now.
 
Saw an ad in Disney Adventures, fell in love with Pikachu, learned it was a huge craze in Japan and coming to the USA, got Blue, when it took my middle school by storm; and the rest is history!

Man, you are so lucky. To actually see early screens of the game and speculate about how awesome this new RPG by Nintendo was going to be. I'm just another generic Kids WB Saturday morning cartoon watcher ;_;...
 
I was watching the news before school one day, many many years ago, and the reporters were talking about an anime that caused seizures in children. Because of this, Pokemon got a lot of coverage in an anime magazine I used to read. The more I read, the more I thought it sounded like a good idea.

Back in 1998, Toys "R" Us sent out a promotional video because Pokemon was coming out to the States. With this information on the anime and the games, I was hooked. The idea of raising little critters to fight for me was music to my ears. I watched the anime first, got the Blue version, and became a full-blown "Pokemaniac" for the next few years.

I still like Pokemon because of the "monsters that battle" aspect of it. Also, writing the fanfics that I do write allow me to travel to far-off places in my mind, and to explore the world. It just seems like after the past several years, I still haven't fully explored the world. That's what I still want to do, and why I still like Pokemon. The battling is just a plus.
 
I got hooked when i was in High School I was flicking through channels when i came to the first episode of pokemon and then i seen the cards and the games then the rest is history!
 
My Nan bought me Blue and a GBC for Christmas the year it came out. Let's just say I got about 3 hours sleep a night for the next week, playing to the point that by the time I got to the Elight Four, my team was about level 80!
 
My cousin was playing Pokemon FireRed and he asked me for help in the Saffron gym maze. It looked interesting so Iasked him where to buy it. He said to buy Pokemon LeeafGreen instead and it all bega from there :>
 
I'm not TO sure how it I got the Treecko, but thats what started it for me.

I got a little Treecko plush, I loved it, I didn't care about any other Pokemon except Grovyle and Sceptile.

Then, I guess I got the game, learned all the Pokemon, then FR/LG came ot, I learned them, and.....yeah. Somehow I learned about Johto,. XD!

I miss Pokemon Crater, it was so good and when I heard that it went away I was sad. Then the new improved pokemon games have come out, im happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cer_laugh::cer_laugh::cer_boogie:
 
i love pokemon cuz i started watching it when i was 5
 
Like a lot of kids, I was first entranced by the show, at a young age. From there I started campaigning to my parents for a game boy, so I could get the games. It wasn't until a few years later, in early 2004, that they relented. I got a game boy advance and a new copy of pokemon sapphire. I've been a total PokeNerd ever since. XP
 
I started watching the show around 4-5 years old, but my interest really took when I first got Pokemon Blue and a GBC about a year later. After that, I bought Yellow, started buying VHS tapes of the anime, and collecting cards from the TCG. Needless to say, I was hooked. =P
 
I was about 5 or 6 and I saw previews and finally saw the first episode, after that it was final...I was now a pokemon maniac...and now I'm making my way through the game as a top coordinator and trainer!!! I got exceptionally hooked after watching the Hoenn season and got my first game RUBY!
 
Back when I was 9, one of my friends had it and he let me play it and I was addicted and demanded that my parents get me blue version for Christmas.
