Political Apathy

Well you're not totally wrong, your government has pretty much been crap since like WW2. However, don't you think if the public was more involved in politics the government would face more accountability for their actions?

Well sure, but you're asking politicians to accept the responsibility for their actions. The President only does that if they want to get elected for two terms, and in the second they can do whatever they want. And for the Senate/House of Representatives, there are so many of them that nobody honestly cares.

You're never going to get politicians to be accountable, that goes against their nature.

A major aspect of democracy is that it forces accountability through votes. If anyone wants to not get voted out or do well politically they need to not piss off the voters.

You have just highlighted yet another reason that a term limit is stupid though, so good job there xD

Not only are terms themselves a problem, but the way that voting is cast in the US.

Its not a popular vote, but each state has a certain number of delegates based mostly on population. That's where most Americans stop thinking about it. After all, if the majority of the state votes for one side, all the votes in the electoral college for that state also go on that side. But its actually a flawed system. Votes are distributed through different predetermined regions, and those regions are determined by political parties. Its a whole lot more complicated than that, but essentially whichever political party is determining the voting districts for that year can use demographics to alter the results of a vote. One party might have a majority in one state, but it could still go the other way if the voting districts are drawn up correctly. More than that, those votes don't even count for anything more than electoral votes, and those people can still vote for whoever they want, and have in the past.

The average person's vote isn't just one out of millions that doesn't mean much, its worth even less than that when politicians can manipulate a vote through demographics. The entire system is flawed, buts its so complicated that hardly anyone even knows it.
