Possible origin for fairy type weakness

So there's a lot of interest with the new fairy type and a lot of people are hustling to try adding them to their rom hacks, and update type charts. (myself included) and while looking around type charts and considering the different weaknesses for each type and looking up fairy facts for inspiration, I stumbled upon something that made that whole poison and steel type weakness make sense.

It looks like the folk over at gamefreak did some research and actually based it on lore.

Parents of a new baby could keep their child safe from abduction by the Fae by using one of several simple charms: a wreath of oak and ivy kept faeries out of the house, as did iron or salt placed across the door step.

poison oak or ivy, and salt and iron two metals. I found that pretty cool, i thought it was just something arbitrary to give a boost to the types that were a bit lacking in offensive options.

kind of funny that in that part about salt, fae are almost similar to vampires.
also apparently fairy dragons are actually a thing.

ooo That's pretty cool! If you do research on things like (more recent shiny colors, since before a certain gen they were decided by a computer) it becomes obvious that GF do their research quite well, and I'm not surprised it was the case for fairies too. One member here (Cherrim) mentioned how it would've been cool if Yamper evolved to be an electric/fairy type because of the legend that fairies rode corgis, but sadly that didn't happen. def a missed opportunity there tbh :x

looks like, according to DJ Allen, i'm a fae

wasn't it garlic that deflected vampires tho? and tbh i'm just glad Poison finally has another type it's strong against that isn't Grass. looks like GF really did sorta think this through.

    lol
yeah garlic repelled vampires but if I remember correctly if you decorate a passage way with salt either they can't cross it or they burn or something like that.
    holy salt maybe?

and yeah same here, steel and poison really needed it. Now steel has something to set it apart from just being, the alt ground type with fire weakness.

Its always cool to find that things like these actually had more depth behind them. :)
That little added bit of realism(or tie in to real world concepts) just makes things all the better imo.

also its not like someone can't make that an alt evolution tree ;)
maybe set it so it can happen on the same way sylveon does. and I just checked, yamper learns its first fairy move a level after it evolves, so at 26.

So if the change is made the evolution would be easily accessible, just stop the first evolution go up one level learn charm and boom evolution.

I'm not good at sprites so unfortunately I can't do it, but the ideas out there now at least.
