So i was looking at some of my previously completed save files.. I'll list some of them and the important explanations as well:
The reason why I mention so few because I'm only sharing what i feel like its worth the explanations.
Ruby:
Spoiler:
Burn Rooster, lvl97 Lonely Blaziken
= When i started playing Ruby a few months ago, I was also in that whole Megaman X series vibe, which i happened to name a lot of my pokemon in my save files since i thought, well the names of the Mavericks are damn cool. Burn Rooster is one of the maverick bosses from Megaman X8 (The last good Megaman X Game after anything before X6 and X7), and a Blaziken happens to be a blazing chicken. He was my fateful starter and was the first starter (and pokemon in ANY SAVE FILE THERE IS) to reach such an absurd level thanks to the sheer feeling of "badass" just playing him and wrecking the entire Ruby Elite Four + Steven with him.
Dinorex, Lax Groudon
= Groudon reminds me of a dinosaur, in particular a T-Rex (before I saw Tyrantum) but because he also uses a variety of fire types. I named him after one of my favorite Megaman X5 bosses, Burn Dinorex.
Alia, Modest female Gardevoir (best Garde Hoenn)
= I picked up this baby as one of those lucky encounters back in my Ruby save file and i had no knowledge with natures until I realized that Modest was the BEST nature for Special Attack. Anyway, I named my Gardevoir after Alia, the Reploid navigator who aids X and Zero in their adventures.
Liquid Crystal:
Spoiler:
Renekton, the Naive Feraligatr
= Pretty basic. Named after the LoL character. I also named my Feraligatr as Renekton back in Gold.
BrockLesnar, the Naughty Machamp
= I didn't see that Nature coming. All I wanted was to name a Machop after Brock Lesnar, famous for being the first WWE Wrestler to become a UFC Heavyweight Champion, as well as his neck muscles and deltoids.
Now in my current Platinum file: Infernape: Wukong
Obvious reference. I may be referencing the LoL character, who happens to be a reference of the Monkey King of Ancient Chinese Lore.
Luxray: Kendra
It was a she, and a brave female she is. I named her Kendra since i was thinking of african-american runners. I wanted a male Shinx but I just had to capture a female one and be happy with it. For some reason, Kendra sounds really nice on a female Luxray. Luxray
Scyther: Slashe
A Fancy re-spelling of an otherwise REALLY COMMON and mundane nickname to give to any Scyther. I was thinking of Guns and Roses during the time I caught this guy.
MALE Roserade: Spankwire
I have a Roselia in my Emerald file named Yuri, so i decided to name HIS distant cousin be named Spankwire since I really wanted a female Budew to raise but I couldn't find such. He has a Rash nature so he definitely deserves the nickname.
Pachirisu, Follow Me
I bet everyone already knows the reference.
Spoiler:
For those who do not: The VGC 2014 World Champion used a Follow Me Pachirisu to help his garchomp survive an otherwise fatal Draco Meteor, with the Pachirisu ACTUALLY SURVIVING THE HIT to win his beloved title
Buneary (will eventually evolve it to Lopunny): Rouge
Its my own personal mockery of some of the Sonic's furry fanbase. Lopunny is one of the common pokephile targets and Rouge is one of the common targets of Sonic furry fetishes.
Togepi: Mr. Egg
The egg that Cynthia gives to the player, born with a Modest Nature and decent IVs. Its my small dedication to MunchingOrange's Pokemon Omicron let's play where he has a Togekiss who's carrying his team really hard.
Speaking of Zeta and Omicron, a fan game that I happen to love, I'll share some of those nicknames as well. The interesting ones. I haven't played that in a while but I still remember the more memorable nicknames i gave to some of my mons.
Spoiler:
Magmortar: Avdoll (Female)
= Named after one of the main characters in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Chapter 3: Stardust Crusaders. Avdol is the Stand User of Magician Red, a fire type Stand. But because the Magby i got was a female, I decided to pun out Avdol's name into a feminine version of it and stick by it.
Spoiler:
In Pokemon Zeta and Omicron: Magby, Bellsprout, and Horsea are the starter pokemon
Charizard (Special based Charizardite Y) - Silanah (From Malazan novels, Dragon of Thyr/fire)
Charizard (mixed Atl/SpAtk based Charizardite X) - Drakhaoul (From The Tears of Artamon novels)
Venusaur - Someshta (Green man from Wheel of Time novels)
Gardevoir - Leanansidhe (From Dresden files novels)

-Azrael the Gardevior
-Justicar the Cobalion
-Buzzcut the Scyther
-Frojitsu the Greninja (almost worthy of being the evolution name)
-Backtalk the Mawile
.. I've got quite the list <_<
I often come up with these names by putting letters together.. if I'm not making fun of them before hand :P
- Balmorhea the Gardevoir
- Mango the Empoleon
- Skullist the Dusknoir
- Hentai the Tentacruel
- Smelly the Vileplume
- Kaini the Scrafty
- Chamo the Camerupt
- Krab patty the Corphish
- Valtuor the Staraptor (this is a very common nick)
- Lord Helix the Omanyte
- Bambi the Deerling
- Moo the Miltank
- Beelzebub the Giratina
- Technium the Metang
- Khadafi the Alakazam
- Edelweiss the Shaymin-sky
- Falcon the Swellow
- Goku the Lucario
Yap. It's totally random I said that, I have no statistics. But, at least, one other player nicknamed his Staraptor Valtuor. It was on a let's play on Youtube. Totally scientifically proved XD
