To me May just got the adorable part of Serena which was one of my favorite female trainer. But new May is way more adorable. I wonder how Dawn will end up in a new design.

I like both the old designs better. :( Emerald Brendan was my favorite male trainer design, and I'm mildly disappointed my first time playing through Hoenn won't be with the design I liked most.
May's changes aren't that big of a deal to me, as I never really cared much for her design in the first place.

I prefer Emerald design 'cause of that green hat!
I prefer the old look for both May and Brendan. I really really hate May's new design (almost more then Lyra's) and wish they kept the old ones for both. I really hope I can get the green outfit for Brendan, (and a new hat) but I doubt customization will be in ORAS. One of the only good parts about X and Y IMO so hope they bring it back

Hmm, I like them all for different reasons:
New Brendan is: hotter, you an actually tell he's wearing something on his head and that it isn't that his hair is white (or was that just me... :P)
Old Brendan is: wearing nicer clothes/gloves, has less goofy of a face
New May is: wearing a nicer headband
Old May is: wearing a nicer outfit and has better hair

For May there's kind of elements of each that I like, whereas for Brendan the old one wins hands down, mainly cause the art that's shown there is Emerald Brendan which is my all-time favourite Brendan lol xD This is due to outfit, hair colour, hat and eye colour.
With May, I like the outfit on both but perhaps more so on the new one; however, I think the hair + hair accessory combo on the old May just works so much better, it's like she was born to wear a bandana lol xD
A point I'd like to make about both old designs is that their addition of gloves + wristbands totally completes their outfits, which the new ones are sorely lacking imo.
Therefore, overall I'd go with the old designs as to me they're still two of the best-designed protagonists :)
