I get all my sprites from Bulbapedia so check out bulbapedia for sprites and it shows all the pokemon sprites from gen 1 to gen 4(if its a gen 1 pokemon).
 
Round 8 is Closed!

I will start the round off with an apology; I am sorry I was barely active this round. Life got thrown at me pretty fast, and I had to deal with it first before anything else. However, I checked in often and I loved that I saw the more experienced people stepping up to the plate to help everyone else out in my absence.

It is time now for several things to happen, first and foremost, the poll:

This poll is going to be tough! As always pick your favorite and vote in Bold. The following people are in the poll:

Charmageddon's Dragon / Bug Gym
SethMetal37's Ground Gym
ZetaDimentio's Fire / Electric Gym

There were many excellent entries, however I was hypercritical (despite my not having posted any criticims =P). I do encourage that everyone try their hand at an Elite 4 member; they are much less stressful to create and give you much more room to build a team for.

However

I am sorry to dissapoint people; but I am opening the Elite 4 a day behind schedule. I feel like if I wait an extra day before opening it, there will be incredible work. I won't be doing this for every E4 round, just the first one. Also, people will need to fix their Elite 4 so that it fits with the template I'll be posting in this post later, so they could use that time.

The round opens tomorrow, see ya then!

Zeta Dimentio? You know, the guy that posted like what, 2 posts over you? :P


You know what? Last time I counted, me and Skippy had just as many votes going for us.. So perhaps it could be a pair of rival gyms? Like the situation in Saffron - ish? Does that sound like an idea?

That's a pretty good idea. The Saffron Fighting Dojo was always something I liked about the Kanto games. I'm supportive of having two gyms in one city; the only thing that would change is that one of them wouldn't give out a gym badge... Maybe a Pokemon instead, like the Fighting Dojo did?

And with the rival gyms, we could even create a plotline that could be incorporated into the hack... like a mini-quest.
 
How come mOOG's Steel gym isn't in the running?

Are we voting for ourselves? I wasn't going to, but since others are...

I vote for Charmageddon's Bug/Dragon gym.

Yah, that sounds like a plan! I think you should have the badge, after all, my leader said that she hadn't had any challengers for years, and that sounds rather strange for a Gym Leader, and to top it off, she is only the second best Gym Leader? Naaah. I think Bronson should be the official one.

As for the mini-plot, I have an idea. Poison-type attacks and Ice-type attacks have already their own personal secondary effects. So the reason why they are struggling, could simply be that they are in a "disagreement" about which secondary effect are the best? What if... both of the gym leaders were looking for the legendary pokemon Registeel? The reason for that would simply be that Registeel resists and hits super effective on Ice and is immune to Poison, so having it would be beneficial to both of the leaders. In other words, this could unlock the plot for the Regis.. And eventually the unsealing of Regigigas and DOOM to the world! (:


On another note, I'm voting. I'm rather split... but Zeta Dimentio's Fire/Electric gym gets my vote!

While I am confused as to why mine wasn't in there (was it the lack of sprites? The other steel gym? Just the decision process?), I'll give a vote to Zeta Dementio's Pokemon Gym.

If mine was there I'd vote for it. xDlol
 
Ooh, before I forget, I had an idea for the Elite Four. Wouldn't it be cool if before you enter each room, you had to complete a Ruins-of-Alph-style puzzle? It adds something different and fun to the Elite Four, I think. The puzzle could be of the next member's signature Pokemon, or perhaps something thematically linked to their type. There wouldn't be one before the champion though, to add a sense of mystery.

This is all the information that you guys will be needing for the Elite Four. I will be taking suggestions on things I could add to the template, so feel free to suggest anything. This post will also answer the questions you have posed in the last few hours.

https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Main_Page - Bulbapedia is great for a wide variety of things. You also get access to HG/SS on this site, which you cannot do on the first site.​

Competitive Movesets​

www.smogon.com - Easy, quick access to competetive movesets. Search the pokemon's name and look for a movest that fits the team.​

www.serebii.com - If the pokemon has been featured under Pokemon of the Day, you can get competetive movesets about them.​

Obviously, there are also competitive movesets to be found on Pokecommunity.​

NOTE: I am not advertising these sites, I am providing links to them as they provide information that is relevant to what I am asking of people during the Elite 4 rounds.​

ALSO, I would love to see people go beyond the slate if they can, do whatever you can think of. All of the gyms that were selected went above and beyond in some way, so think of a way you can.

Answering ALL The Questions

SkipShot + ooOpposite Day - I love the idea of a dual gym. Decide who is the leader and who is beat out, and we will be set =).​

Charmageddon + mOOG - mOOG's Steel Gym isn't in the running due to the lack of pictures. If there had been pictures it would have immediately been put into the Poll, but pictures are a requirement and has been stated over and over again, so anything lacking pictures at this point was disqualified. mOOG's gym was great though, and so if he contributes to the E4 (WITH PICTURES) he is sure to make one of the polls!​

Chamageddon - Puzzles most certainly will be a big part of this Elite 4; remember, this rom is going to be challenging! I already have my puzzle mapped and implemented into the game, so I assure you there will be a puzzle for the Champion as well.​

I think I am gonna have to vote for SethMetal37's gym as I think it is the best. Although I feel like a major douche for voting for myself lol
 
Oh, there are going to be gym puzzles in the Elite Four? I'm gonna be blunt with you, I don't like it. Proper, massive gym puzzles overcomplicate things. I just meant a teeny little Ruins-of-Alph-style puzzle, just for a little fun. I know it's your hack and all, but I wouldn't want to play a hack that was too overcomplicated and drawn out.
 
Taken into account Charmageddon. I have changed it, look and see if you care for it now. I warn you, my puzzle, while not complicated, is certainly large, though I think you will approve of it when you see it.

The time I posted was...you know...during the 7th Gym event (Meaning so was his)...according to the time on the first post

I totally love the plotline! It makes for a great idea. For gym leaders and whatnot, I'll go with whatever you decide on. I guess that I'll take the gym badge, as I can see where you're coming from with the gym leader's quote. One other thing... that could also cause for tensions between the two gym leaders and a tag battle ensuing... between Bronson and you/the rival and your leader versus the rival/you?

I'll get started on a full Elite 4 as soon as I can. I'm pulling from an old fanfic, so it will be an amazing submission to look for!

The expiration time was Midnight, EST starting the 25th, about 24 hours before you posted your gym, which would be on the 26th, in his time zone. Also, the 8th round was announced on Page 9, your gym was on Page 10. And I reposted mine, after realising that it wasn't in Round 8.

Also, now that the E4 signups are out, and it allows creativity as well... awesome. I'll make sure to get on them.

Skippy, I totally agree with your idea about a tag battle, where the player decides which side they will support. Great!
I guess I'll have to change some of Nathalie's dialogue, she can't be handing out the Hail badge if it doesn't exist. Any ideas for what pokemon could be given? I believe a choice between a Spheal or a Swinub would be the best, both are different pokemon that might easily benefit the player, one being a being of extreme offense, whilst the other one are sustained as potentially the best staller in the world (:

I know for sure that they should be rare Pokemon to get. I like your idea of going between offense and defensive styles, but Swinub is quite easy to capture. I think that giving out a Sneasel in place of Swinub would be a good idea, since Sneasel is much harder to find. Each Pokemon should have a special move with them that can't be obtained in any other way by the Pokemon to create more incentive to choose as well (like ExtremeSpeed Dratini in HG/SS and GSC). I'm pretty sure that can be implemented into the hack.

They should probably both be obtained at Level 30, so...
