is there someone who has had a resurgence in the spotlight/public opinion that you think was forgiven too easily for whatever actions caused them to fall from grace?

Yeah, his subtle climb back into Hollywood's good graces (if not public prominence) has made me tilt my head more than a fair bit over the last couple of years. I suppose a decade of quietness alternated with spending time with Jodie Foster is enough for them.

for some reason people still like chris brown and he is still a thing even though he abused rihanna and whatnot

First person that came to mind was Chris Brown. He's had quite a few violent outbursts barring the physical assault on Rihanna. Women still go crazy for him I don't get it.
