Questionable moves

Just talk about why you think some moves are weird.
For example, why is water gun so weak? In the tv show it's always strong.

The TV show is retarded, remember. It actually makes moves like Dig and Hyper Beam look usable.

Well, one thing I think is wierd is the move animations.(In the Anime)

I mean, I can hardly tell Flamethrower from Fire Blast.

and Water Gun from Hydro Pump

Flamethrower is just a jet of fire. Fire Blast always appears in the "star" shape, which is the Japanese character for fire.

The idea that less effective attacks can work in the show always annoy me. Like when Pikachu can harm a Rock/Ground type with electric attacks, or Charmander can burn a Rock/Ground type with Flamethrower. But it's as airconditioning said. The anime is just a big collection of plot holes and mistakes.

Earthquake while Surfing will always be my number one weird move. I just can't see it working.

Or dive while on the land, or dig in the water. At least mystery dungeon made this impossible, it can be annoying, but it's correct now...

The show just makes no sense, that's all.

yeah also notice how BARELY any fire pokes learn ember they all magicly know flametrower..:/

Actually, I think it would make sense if Water Gun was as strong as Flamethrower. But we already have Surf. And in real life (lol I know) moves like Dig and Fly would probably be quite good in real time battling like the anime. But in turn based, obviously they're not.

Yeah, that's weird. It's like Hydro Pump.

    Ash: Go Charmander! Use Flamethrower!

*level 8 Charmander shoots incredibly powerful beam of fire*

I don't understand Whirlpool. It seems rather fun to me, not an attack move plx.

In the Johto PokeSpe manga, Red fights an Azumarill in order to become Viridian's gym leader. Azumarill uses Whirlpool against Snorlax.... *anxiousness*... it works exactly like in the games! The manga is going stupid... it mustn't be exactly like the game!

Pokémon was a game at first. Then animé and TCG and manga and who knows what. The show couldn't be exactly like the game (turn-based battles?? PP?? levels??) so they made something slightly different.
What's the difference between Ember and Flamethrower, "irl"? If there is a fire lizard pokémon, wouldn't it make sense if it could learn how to blow fire, rather depending on age and experience, than of a numbered "level"?
Though, in later shows, ember is small orange dots :s Look at this later animé, starting in Hoenn, perhaps. It's trying to be more like the game. Result? It gets more boring.

Hm, yeah, maybe. But I bet it'll get worse in the future!^^

    - Oh, wow, Chimchar, you look like you've just grown a level! Your speed raised one stage!
    - Chim! *tries to learn a new move but fails since he already has got 4*
    - It's ok, the move a Chimchar learns at lv X is Flamethrower, so you can finally forget Ember forever!
    - Chim! *poff! suddenly shoots incredible powerful beam of fire*
    - Great, now we'll only need 546 more exp. p. and then you'll evolve. Let's get farming some Pidgeys.

What I can't understand really are the ELECTRIC moves which do devastating effects in ROCK Pokemon and GROUND. I mean, in D/P series, Cranidos got effected in ELECTRIC moves. In a movie, the first movie, GOLEM got pulverize by Pikachu's Electricity! whoa.

well cranidos is pure rock and rock CAN get hit by eletric attacks, its just ground that it can't hit, but in the anime Ash's Uberchu defies that law...

It's like in the games in a 2 player battle:

    Dugtrio used Dig!
    (End Turn)
Squirtle used Surf! (The attack missed)
    (End Turn)
    Dugtrio's attack Continued! (Hit Squirtle)
    (End Turn)

how can digging yourself underground save you from a flood!

    Stupid Game Freak!

It weirds me out that Earthquake on a beach would do so much damage. You'd think the sand would soften the impact of the attack, but nooo, it doesn't.
