Quick Question and Answer Thread / Breeding Questions

Question:

I am only getting back into the swing of everything now so I just need to brush up on some things.

If I want to start EV training at a higher level so IO can see the obvious increase, what ways can I get a pokemon up to a higher level, without it benefiting from EV's?

For example, I have a Level 1, newly hatched, pokemon. I want to get it to Level 50 before I start EV training. How can I do this?

Some things I can think of are Rare candy (Dur XD)
Does EXP pass on the EV's or not?
Any other methods?

Yes, exp passes on EV's.
The way I EV train is, I breed then I put the Pokemon level 1 into the daycare till about level 20. Then I take it out and start training it. So yeah, you have the daycare.

Ahhh ok and that was the other way I used! XDDDDD

God, it has been a while! ^.^

Thanks!

Pal Park

Hi all,

This question is really only half about pal park, but i hope the mods don't close it on me.

My parents want to get me the new DSi, should I sacrifice my pal park and go for it, or should I just get another DS(my current one broke)?

DS is a lot better then the DSI

DSi is just fail incarnate, DON'T get it. DSlite>DSi by far...

Hmm, I am gonna get the DSi, cause if i still need my pal park, ill look for a lite cheap off ebay.

How can i Improve my team

my current team is as follows

Weavile Lvl 58
Dark Pulse
Surf
Metal Claw
Ice Beam

Infername Lvl 56
Strength
Close Combat
Flamethrower
Flame Wheel

Luxray Lvl 54
Tackle
Crunch
Thunder Fang
Spark

Togekiss Lvl 42
Sweet Kiss
Air Slash
Fly
Wish
(thinking about teaching Aura Sphere maybe?)

Mamoswine Lvl 43
Mud Bomb
Icy Wind
Aincent Power
Earthquake

Unsure of a 6th pokemon

I have been contemplating between training up these pokemon:
Golbat (evolve it to crobat)
Electabuzz
Gliscor
Giratina
Tangrowth
Aipom
Porygon
still have eevee i can evolve too

what should i add/take away to make my team better?
if you have any pokemon you think i should get and train, let me know

thanks

Electivire > Luxray any day of the week
By this time, you should have money enough for Heals, so Aura Sphere > Wish on Togekiss. Also, I have found Extremespeed to be very helpful on Togekiss as it is a powerful priority STAB move.
Could use Tangrowth as a wall, as you may need a Grass type. Team looks solid, though level up Mamoswine and Togekiss.

yeah thats my main priority right now is leveling them up
just used regigias so i could get past the elite 4 and level them up faster
haha

ah, ok then. Yeah, the team looks nice.

is it possible to hack event items that work
ex. oaks letter that actually unlocks the event?

Yeah, but a Shaymin event should come soon. I got Arceus that way.

Another method (although it may be a bit more tedious and hard) would be to train that Pokemon up to whatever level you want it to be the normal way. Once it reaches that level, you could use the berries such as Kelpsy, Pomeg, etc(I can't remember the other ones, sorry) to lower all your Pokemon's EVs to 0. Then you can EV train it. If your Pokemon has a stat that has over 100 EVs for it, then feeding it one berry will reduce the stat's EVs to 100. From then on, every berry you feed it that lowers that stat's EVs will take away 10 EVs/berry. Hope that wasn't too confusing. Good luck!

You could also drop it off at the daycare and run around for a bit... But your moveset will get ruined.

My team is...
Lvl 60 Gyrados - Waterfall
Lvl 55 Gengar
Lvl 56 Empoleon - Surf
Lvl 54 Jolteon
Lvl 55 Staraptor - Fly, Defog
Lvl 25 Bibarel - Strength, Rock Climb, Cut, Rock Smash

I've cleared out most of the post-story events, but I need some good replacements that can hold the HM's still because as you can see, my team is very electric weak.

If you don't water Surf and Waterfall on the same Pokémon, get a Whiscash. It has Electric immunity and can Waterfall or Surf.

Otherwise, put both Surf and Waterfall on something (or move Rock Climb off Bibarel and onto another Pokémon; replacing it with Waterfall) and get something that's good against Electric.
