Quick Question and Answer Thread / Breeding Questions

Breed your Chansey with Ditto and make sure the Chansey is holding Luck Incense ; that will produce a Happiny egg.
Morning Bliss's answer works as well, though I'm pretty sure that is Platinum exclusive..
In Diamond and Pearl Cynthia gives you a Happiny egg if I remember correctly.

Actually in Diamond and Pearl you get the Happiny egg from the hiker dude.

Well, there is a man in Hearthome City that is a hiker dude and he gives you a Happiny egg.

Hope that helps.

The guy doesn't give you an egg in Platinum, though. If you don't have D/P, you can try trading for it in the Quick Trade thread.

It's a special Pokemon that Mr. Backlot "puts" in the Trophy Garden (Route 212) after talking to him (and he says that Ditto are in the garden) and obtaining the National Dex.

I thought that was only in D/P, because in Platinum I heard of guys catching it near Canalave City.

this makes it even worse!

i need the national dex to get ditto, and to get the national dex, i need Happiny

this cycle wont stop will it >_<

You could always go on the quick trade thread and ask for a Happiny if you have wifi.

Or if you have Diamond or Pearl you can trade a Happiny over to Platinum.

Also, Happiny is found in the Trophy Garden.

You've got it backwards. D/P is where you can catch it near Canalave (Route 218 via Pokeradar). Platinum is the only one where it's in the Trophy Garden.

There is a trainer on Route 210 who has a Happiny if all you need is to see one.

I need some tips on getting my Smeargle to learn the moves i want. How do trainers effectively get it to learn the moves they want? I want to get Baton pass on him, And substitute. But i haven't a clue how.

First, have a Pokemon that knows what move you want to Sketch. Then, get into a double battle either through the restaurant or VS seeker. Have the Pokemon that knows the move you want to Sketch use it and have Smeargle use Sketch on that Pokemon.

I don't believe any of the EV'd pokemon i have know any of those moves i need, Except substitute, I'll try it though. Thanks for you're help. Never even thought of that myself.

Of course, you can always ask on the Trade Corner for some Pokémon with those moves, or check a Pokémon Guide for which Pokémon learn the moves you need for Smeargle.

One of the moves is on a Paras, And i don't have to much luck at the great marsh :P. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is a more difficult and complex question, so I thought it would be suited better here than in the simple Q and A thread.

In the Battle Tower, Arcade, Castle, etc., what do they do when they reduce your pokemon to level 50? What I mean is, if I have Ev trained a pokemon after level 50, will it still have the boost when reduced back to lv. 50, or will they just take the stats he had when he was at lv. 50?

EVs are conserved. It would be as though you put 510 EVs into a level 1 Pokemon and leveled it up to 50.

If you are planning on Spore, Sub, Punch, Pass, you are maniacal.
Remember you can also use Shroomish... Or other Smeargle.

If you want, save at the Trainer Cafe, and have Smeargle with Chesto Berry attached. Have it use Sketch on Maylene's Breloom. If it uses Spore, you will wake up and steal the attack. If not, reset and try again.

Isn't the trainers at the Cafe random? I thought they switch everyday. The set i'm using is similar to that one. But this Smeargle is a perfect IV bred and i'm not gonna be using him just EVing him. Once again thanks for the suggestion.

If you allot 510 EVs into it, then it will not get any EVs from further battles. It would be safe to fight any Pokemon you please. Also, if you go with the double battle route, either (1) have Smeargle have 510 EVs, or (2) kill Smeargle before beating the enemy.

Yes, the Trainer Cafe trainers are random... But Maylene appears there, and you can learn Spore on that day.
