I might as well use fully evolved pokes, It is my first challenge and i'd like to see how good the pokemon I don't use can really be. Thanks!
Thanks! I'll update this post as I go. Edit: This post is getting pretty long now, I think I'll put it in a spoiler for everyone's sake.
The Challenge is complete, long live the challenge! *check spoiler*
--- My Challenge:
Spoiler:
----------Challenge----------
Hero: Luke (The Shiny Psyduck)
Final Team: Cloyster, Jolteon, Tauros, Primeape, Chansey
The Challenge is complete, long live the challenge!
Note:
The reason it seems like I'm going through the game really fast is that I'm making good use of VBA's speed-up button. BUt don't wirry, I'm not cheating or using save states or anything like that. Another thing I should mention is that I replaced the Bulbasaur at the begining of the rom with an Eevee, so I had it from the start and my rival has a Charizard.
Update #1:
Team now- Eevee, Mankey
I just beat Misty after around 6 tries. She kept spamming water pulse with her Starmie and it confused me every time. I ended up winning by using tail whip over and over with Eevee while continually healing untill Mankey could one shot it... It really wasn't as hard as my first five tries made it look. Brock was a piece of cake, mankey's low kick wrecked his entire team. And sorry I didn't update sooner, I couldn't put the game down and I figured it would take too long to update every new area or so.
Update #2:
Team now- Jolteon, Primape, Cloyster (huge jump from last update)
I'm currently at the entrance of the rocket hideout under the game corner, and I think I should stop and say a few things right now. One, I had no idea the department store sold evolutionary stones. My Jolteon and Cloyster are both evolved now, and they've been destroying everything in their paths. For a while after Mankey evolved I was only training Shellder and Eevee because he was far stronger than they were, but now the tables have turned. Two is that my pokemon seem way overleveled. Eevee and Primeape were both in the mid-twenties when I beat Lt. Surge (got shellder after that), and now after Erika they're almost mid-thirties (her pokemon were all around lv29)! Note that I've done no extra training since cerulean city, but I have battled EVERY trainer in my path. I'm hoping that the game is gonna suddenly get alot harder (like it usually does) but so far i'm breezing through the game.
Update #3:
Team now- Jolteon, Primape, Cloyster, Chansey
I just beat Koga and decided I should stop and update again. The rocket hidout was a breeze, no challenge there. Jolteon easily took care of the pokemon tower with bite and the blackglasses he was holding. After that I got the poke flute, and can finally get to the next town. I got my entire team at lv40 from fighting every trainer on routes 12-15, and Jolteon leveled up more from the gym. I was pleased to see that Koga's pokemon's levels were close to my own, but the only pokemon that put up a fight was Muk. I also went ahead and caught a chansey in the safari zone, I'll do the same for tauros after I'm done training her.
Update #4:
Team now- Jolteon, Primape, Cloyster, Chansey
After winding back up cycling road, I got somewhat lost and decided that I should go and fight Blaine. I flew to Pallet town and surfed south, fighting all the trainers I could find untill I reached Cinnabar. My team breezed through the pokemon mansion, and I got to Blaine without fighting a single gym trainer (really, is it that hard to do?). The only pokemon that caused me any trouble during the fight with Blaine was his Arcanine, who ko'd Cloyster and Jolteon but easily fell to a cross chop from Primape. I found out that training Chansey is a lot harder than I remembered it being (had one back in D/P and kept it on my team since) but she's a tank against anything special based (and not poison/steel). Bill then sent me off to the islands and the Lostelle quest, which still wasn't that hard but the pokemon were definitely closer to my level than they have been in a long time. Once I found a lv.40 Hypno in the berry forest, I remembered why. I had completely skipped Saffron city, It's gym(s), and the team rocket takeover at Sliph Co. So now I'm in Saffron and am back to fighting much lower-leveled pokemon... sigh. I should really play the challenge a second time with 1st evolution pokemon when I finish this.
Update #5:
Team now- Jolteon, Primape, Cloyster, Chansey, Tauros
I've got a good amount done since the last update, and I thought I would update this to keep the 1 or so person who reads this posted and organize myself. I beat Silph Co; I had decided against battling every team rocket member but ended up doing just that cause I couldn't find the stupid warp I was supposed to take. I skipped every trainer in Sabrina's gym, and Chansey wore down everything she had untill Venomoth. Jolteon finished her easy with shock wave and bite, and I decided that I should go and catch Tauros before I take on the final gym. After three safari zone visits I finally managed to catch the darn thing and am not looking foreward to training him 20 levels to catch up with the rest of my team, but whatever. Chansey keeps trying to evolve, too, but I don't mind keeping her back, I'm not allowed to let her anyway. I'm also very short on hold items, the only two I have so far are blackglasses and the quick claw. It's not like I haven't been looking for items, but probably that I hardly ever talk to NPC's now. But that shouldn't really be a problem.
Update #6:
Team now- Jolteon, Primape, Cloyster, Chansey, Tauros
I trained Tauros on the trainers in Giovanni's gym including Giovanni himself, and the actual fight still wasn't that tough. I switched between Tauros and Cloyster every turn and surfed over his whole team, while not even taking half my health in damage due to Cloyster's awesome defense. Then I navigated through Victory Road with my rock smash slave in place of my flying slave because I thought I'd need him, but instaid I just made it less convienint to get back to the poke center when my pokemon were low on health. I tried to get as many items and fight as many trainers as I could, but I may have missed some. I decided that I would have to fix up my team a bit before I took on the elite four. I started by going to all of the places I haven't been and fought every trainer there (eg. One Island, Routes 19 & 20). Next I went to Zapdos, Moltres & Articuno's areas to collect items (and train). FInally, I went to celadon city, sold all the items I wasn't going to use, and bought thunderbolt and shadow ball form the game corner. I might decide to keep training, but as of now I plan on challenging the elite four next. Hopefully by my next update I'll be finished, but this has been fun enough that I definitely won't mind if it isn't.
Update #7: (Final Update)
Final team- Jolteon, Primape, Cloyster, Chansey, Tauros
Phew, I'm finally done! Although, finally isn't really the right word, cause this challenge went REALLY fast, and I loved every second of it. I'm still considering what to do now, I might even decide to do this again but with less-evolved pokemon. I'm kinda sad it's over already, though, this challenge was really fun. I never would have picked half the pokemon (well, actually just tauros, I use jolt, blissey (close enough) & cloy all the time, and I've used primape in the past. It's just a shame I didn't get to use tauros as much as I would have wanted to, his attack stat was pretty awesome. But I've done enough rambling, I should start to explain how I went about beating the Elite 4... Lorelei- Jolteon's electric and ghost moves got him perfect coverage, so he was all I really needed here. T-bolt destroyed most of her team and two shadow balls were enough to put Jynx away for good. Bruno- Primape was good enough here. I started by grabbing three Bulk Up's, and then proceeded to heal and break/chop away at his team. Everything but Machamp fell, and my defense boosts stopped him from doing anything while I finished him off. Agatha- Again, Jolteon was key here. T-bolt and shadow ball got him near perfect coverage, and thunder was good enough for Arbok. The second gengar was a bit of trouble, tho, cause shadow ball only did around 1/3 damage and he kept using hypnosis. His last haunter killed itself with curse, so that evened out for the problems I had with its evolution. Lance- I started with Jolteon to kill Gyarados, and then switched to Primape and stacked some bulk ups. That let me 2ko everything, and the defense boost let my stay around for the 2ko. Dragonite eventually killed him, but Cloyster showed him up with blizzard.
Rival (Rory)- Yea, yea, I forgot to mention my rival's name untill now. Sue me. Instaid of explaining what happened here, I might as well show you... *check the spoiler*

So yea, I guess this is the end. It looks like I'm done and stuff, but I might go the the rest of the islands on my own just for the heck of it. Thanks for the great challenge, and good luck to everyone else participating. See ya!
Yea, I have a few questions too... HM slaves are ok, right? And I'm allowed to hack in (I'm using an emulator, no save states) the next pokemon if I can't get it for a while, right? I already added shellder to the wild pokemon on the route after Lt. Surge because I won't be able to get the good rod for a while. I was also planning on doing the same after the 5th and 7th gyms for the last two (unless I manage to catch them in the safari zone)... is that allowed? Don't worry, I'm not using save states or changing anything else in the game, just adding the pokemon to the ones I can catch once it seems fair to get it. My friend is borrowing my LG now and I really didn't feel like having to fight the frontier brains on my emerald or else I would've used that instaid.
Edit: I almost forgot, am I allowed to eventually evolve my chansey? Thanks!

-----Start Challenge-------
Began new game on Emulater (changed my mind, won't use cheats though!)
Chose to be a male (by accident) and named myself Pebbly.
Named Rival Kaz.
Went straight to home PC and got Potion, and went for Route 1. Got taken to the Lab, and chose Charmander (to be evolved into Charizard) and beat Kaz's Squirtle. Charmander grew to Level 6.
Went straight to Viridian with only 1 fight, whilst getting a free potion from that guy on Route 1. Healed, went to Pokemart. Went back to Pallet town. Skipped through Oak and Kaz's speeches. Got 5 pokeballs (and the pokedex, but who cares). Went up to Route 1. Didn't bother with town map.
First battle..... Lvl 3 Rattata!!!!!
Charmander used Scratch. Critical Hit!
:OOOOOO!!!!!
Rattata was left in the red.
Used Pokeball. Rattata was caught! AWESOME! (to evolve into Raticate laterrr).
Went back to Viridian, healed and began to grind (if you could call i that) on Route 1. Spent about 5 minutes training before I got bored and saved the game.
But Charmander is now lvl 7.
Ok, thanks. I've decided against emulating the final two pokemon tho because I got to the safari zone and can catch them now, and not evolving chansey isn't a problem.
Start Fire Red on Emulator (no cheats)
Went through the intro and chose a male hero and decided to call myself THN (for the sake of the challenge) and put Gary as rival's name.
Got the Potion from the home PC and went and did the regular thing, chose Charmander as a starter and owned Gary's Squirtle. Next I sped through the delivery mission and contiued on to Virdian Forest. Caught a level 5 female Caterpie and named it Misty. Went and deposited Charmander and contiued on my merry way. By the tme I finsihed the forest Misty was a level 10 Butterfree. Proceded to Pewter Gym. There I completly swept through the Gym Trainer's team with Confusion. Then I battled Brock about 20 times to the point where I could 2 hit KO Geodude. Onix could 1 hit KO me but that wasn't a problem after Butterfree learned Sleep Powder. There I saved.
Yayy, I finished my challenge! (I know, I know, it's only been 3 days... The speed up button makes things oh-so much faster) If you want to see, check my other post and good luck to everyone else participating in the challenge. I might take it again with less evolved pokemon and a different game, but I'm gonna take a break for a while first. Phew...
I'll have to pull out of this challenge for Pokemon Red :(.
My game died. It is dead T-T.
Name: Totaldile
Game: Sapphire
# of Randoms: 6
)
Do you want a generation specific team or all pokemon: Just Gen 3
Monotype: Not this time, thanks :).
Different species: I don't care :).
Different type: I don't care :).
Evo stage: Any, unless it's a 3-evo stage, then it would have to be atleast stage 2.
Aww but pretty sweet looking randomized team I have :D. The last two will more than likely be left to Blaziken and Gardevoir but we will see. Also the only pokemon I will be cheating for will be Zangoose to throw tha out there. Time for me to get started n_n.
