Rap VS Rock/Metal

Okay, this isn't a debate, just a normal poll. What do you prefer? Rock/Metal or Rap? My definition of Metal isn't Screamo or even Thrash Metal. Just stuff like the occasional Guns N Roses.... Motley Crue, etc.

Firstly, rock and metal are different genres.

Now, I mainly like...
Symphonic/gothic metal (Nightwish, Within Temptation), industrial metal (Rammstein, Turmion Kätilöt) and pagan/folk metal (Ensiferum, Moonsorrow, Wolfchant).

Hmm what about Nu metal? Whether or not its metal is debatable, but it's rock with rap inflences, such as linkin park or imp bizkit

Either way Rock/metal gets my vote. Except real metal, I can't stand black/death metal.

I like both. Pop/Rock more than anything (hooray 2005), and rap's okay as long as it's not gangster rap >_>;

...how can the two even be compared? They're 2 entirely different styles of music.

My personal choice would have to be Rock/Metal, but there are equally good rap musicians out there. It really falls into a person's perspective to decide which genre is 'better.'

..Oh, except that "gangsta rap" or whatever the hell that all the little suburban kids are always listening to, thinking that blaring 50 cent in your mom's old ford makes you look cooler than you actually are. That just sucks T_T

I like both rock and rap but my ipod has much more rap songs. I hate it when people immediately pass judgement on the entire rap genre when they only hear "gangsta" rap.

While there is some good rap, most of it is crap. However I am a big fan of groove metal (Pantera, Mudvayne, Lamb of God) and thrash metal (early Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, etc.). Recently, though, I have been getting more into 60s/early 70s hippie rock. There's just something about it that makes me happyish.

Dude... first of all rock and and metal are 2 very diffrent genres... one is you know rock/rocking and the other one is like screaming... i prefer rock without screaming but screamo is ok... whutta... what am I saying??

nothing is crap about rap. personally, i love rock/metal more than any other genre, but i grew up around neighborhood and an older sister that blasted rap. you just got to know the artist.

and btw, 50 cent isn't rapping or a rapper in any sense. he's a HIP-HOP artist, which in turn, is a completely different genre, however disillusioned he may think.

I prefer rap since I like the beats. Rock to me sounds whiny and 90% of is deriative trash.
