Do you replay your games when you've finished playing with them? If so, do you like doing it straight away or to wait a while? If not, why not?

I tend to replay certain games such as Bioshock and Assassin's Creed to get any achievements I may have missed during the first run, takes me a tad longer than usual to complete said games on a second run since I'm so busy looking for achievements than trying to progress through the story at the time.

Normally, I like to leave it for a while before I replay something. I normally like to spend some time away from the game so I can forget aspects of the game and maybe, it can bring me into a different part of the game.

Skyrim is the only game I have really replayed a game so quickly, because I made a different characters and started different ways and such.

I only replay games I really enjoyed playing or are easy to get achievements/trophies. There are some games I would never restart though like Disgaea 3 as that game is just so stupidly long I really couldn't be bothered. Completing it sure felt like an achievement in itself.

Only game I have replayed to death would be Final Fantasy X and I know as soon as the remake is out I am going to be booking the week off work and completing the game n all its HD sexyness.

I usually wait awhile. I unfortunately have a really hard time getting back into games after beating them once.

The only games I can think of playing immediately after beating was Skyward Sword (Hero Mode), Ocarina of Time 3DS (Hero Mode), and the Pokemon series.

I restart pokemon series like I restart my computer. I transfer my EV trained Pokemon over to a storage cartridge and start a new journey!

I used to play through Ocarina of Time almost monthly. I've never done that with any other game.

I replay my absolute favourite games almost yearly.

Games I've enjoyed I'll replay to go for completition or something like that. Sometimes just for fun. I've played through Ghostbusters a lot more then I'd like to admit because it's not that good but it's one of my guilty video game pleasures XD

This year I'm trying to get through some series playthrough. Already replayed Ocarina of Time, Metroid Prime, Metroid: Zero Mission, and Super Mario 64. Now working on Metroid: Prime Hunters, Majora's Mask, and Super Mario Bros.

I usually replay most RPGs or games with a lot of customization.

FFTA, The Pokemon games, Fire Emblem, Rune Factory to name a few. These games because every playthrough is completely different. You always end up with different teams.

I usually don't replay games where I know everything will be the same as the first one. An exception to this are Ratchet and Clank 3 and Ratchet Gladiator, those games will never cease to entertain me. XD

I have replayed a few games in my time. Kingdom Hearts is the main one that springs to mind because you can replay it and choose a different strength and weakness for each play through.

I often replay games that I've already completed, although it depends on the game itself.
I may play for a few hours if I've unlocked New Game Plus (TWW and Okami, for example) or something else (OoT3D Master Quest and Emerald's Battle Frontier, for example), but I just usually abandon finished games for a few months (the timeframe between playthroughs depends on how much I loved the game).

From the top of my head, I've constantly replayed Final Fantasy IX and X, the first Kingdom Hearts game (the best one in the whole franchise, IMO), Mass Effect 2, and the R/S/E Pokemon games. They're all excellent games. I usually never replay my games though; if there is no replay value I sell it off. I'm also not much of a "completor"; I don't chase PS3 trophies or try to go for that 100% game completion.

Haha, yes, I do. :'D The Legend of Zelda is the prime example of games I replay from the moment the credits finished. Skyward Sword and the Windwaker especially since they have a hero mode. I loved doing the WindWaker with Link's normal clothes.

The other Zelda games frequently go into the console as well. |D Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time (currently replaying)... And if I had any of the gameboy colour/Advance/DS games besides the free Four Swords I don't doubt I'd play those frequently as well. : >

Another game I restarted immidiately was Okami. Whenever I feel so accomplished after finishing a game, it usually doesn't take long before I restart it.

Fire Emblem is another series I try to replay often, same as Pokémon, but there's usually quite some time between replaying.

I have replayed most of the games in my DS collection. I usually wait and let them sit for awhile before deciding them to play them again. Only exception are games that frustrated me or became overly tedious. Usually if I have a long stretch of free time, I'll pick up one of my old games and play it through again. But yes, I do enjoy revisiting old games and playing them again. Kinda like visiting an old friend :P

It depends on the game. If I really liked a game or completion looks like an achievable goal, I'll play it again. Usually I'll wait at least a few months, if not a year or so, before playing a game if I'm just playing for the sake of playing it. If it's doing completion, I usually like to do it as soon as I finish the first time so I don't forget anything important. :x

I've been doing a lot of replays lately, though. It's partially in an effort to keep my spending on new games down and it works... fairly well. (Except that I tend to play prequel games in anticipation for the next one, oops.)

Most of what I've played this year so far has been replays and old stuff. lol

Adding to my original post here...

I'm thinking of ending some of my series playthroughs with how I started them. I started off Zelda with Skyward Sword. Being the latest game, it could be interesting to return to it after replaying all the other games and seeing it in that light with them all fresh in my mind. Same with Mario. I got Super Mario 3D Land at Christmas which put me on a Mario kick and now I'm going through all the old platformers. Again, would be neat to replay 3D Land again after for comparisons sake.

I'm terrible for this. If I get stuck, I make a new file and start replaying. If I come back to a game after a long time, I make a new file and replay it. If I beat a game, and I like it enough, I make a new file and replay it. This can be a bad habit on single save games like pokemon >_<.

I almost always replay a game, but never right after I'd just completed it. I usually play several games in between (which I also replay).

    So it becomes an endless cycle... ;_;

I don't tend to; it just ceases to be anywhere near as entertaining anymore. I prefer to stay away from anything story-based and/or closed-ended for this reason; the story will be shorter than I'd hoped and ultimately unsatisfactory, or the gameplay won't make up for it and will in turn make it an arduous venture into me not bothering to go further. As such, I have come to only much play strategy and open-world games, and Monster Hunter — things I can continue for as long as I personally care to without restarting.

I can only really re-play games if I really enjoy them, or I haven't played them in like, 10 years. Paper Mario is a prime example for me. I only just finished playing it sometime last year and I wanna play it again. I've also had an itching to play Battletoads.
I'm going to replay Paper Mario soon! :D
