Rep Are Getting Out Of Hand Now

SkinnyGreenMan said:
Well, what happens if we just leave it? Those who ask for rep get tons more than those who don't, by breaking the rules.

This way at least rep lives up to it's name.

Either way would be a problem.. Leave it or not, it will still be a stressful matter to the staff at times.. This is why I pointed out that rep is not actually helping PC, or used correctly as in the past.. but then it has it's g00d points.. meh, 2 sided story that cant go wrong IMO. So if this was to be dealt with the way you peeps like it, there's always going to be some problem flying along, even with the hard work of the staff. -_- It sucks really.. this looks like it's going to turn into the other rep threads.. ehh

i think so too. people are making 2 accounts just for rep, and that's not right.

Thats only cuz you like me Jolty. XD

Anyways,
Would you feel happy if one day you made a post- a normal post! and you were bombarded with rep, while the person who posted before you made an excellent post? I sure wouldnt. Its like getting extra credit on a test, when you knew you shouldnt get it. I think every one of us has to stop and really think:
"Should I give this rep or not?"

i got all 2 of my blocks from good honest posts, and i'm proud of them *pets his little rep blocks* i've never asked for rep, but i don't think that rep is really that important. i think that maybe the situation isn't as bad as the suggestions people have been suggesting for violators (like negative 10 blocks?) people look like better members when they have tons of blocks, so i guess the issue is their attempt at deception along with their rule breaking (maybe? at least that's kinda how i see it)
edit: is it wrong to give new members in my club rep when they join as sort of a "welcoming present"? (it won't do that much cuz i don't have that much influence here)

I say stop with trying to enforce for people to stop asking and just take off the thing completetly. Once there is no more rep. blocks to complain about, the less complaints there will be and the less bombarded people will be by newbs begging for good reputation.

Rep has gotten out of hand...But I think reseting the rep to those who ask is a bit harsh...I say that if at ANYTIME you see someone ask for a rep in any post, give em a bad rep, they deserve it

BOO ya!

Oh and another opinion on the "resetting the rep to 0"thing": You would most likely need proof and having to do that and everything else involved with the idea would also, most likely, turn into mad chaos. Just another con to the idea.

me just got around 100 points for a regular post like eliana was talking about!its like, bribery with giving someone with alot of rep a rep with your name in the comment, thinking they will give a heap to you!

*end random rant*

Seems were on the same page... It really does suck to have to maintain such a stress just to keep this rep system.. As much as I'm sure other's like it.. it brings in a lot of issues.

You could just when you give rep, it does not go to whoever til a higher member "oks" it. (like by PM) what was I thinking, scrap that! XD

It is bringing in too many issues or else this thread wouldn't be here right now. I still stand by my idea of disabling the reputation system.

Or maybe only staff could give rep? Then people wouldn't be giving so much unearned rep...

Then more people would complain that it is unfair that only the staff members can give rep and normal members can't, even though they used to be able to. Too much hassle in keeping the darn thing in my opinion.

I think we dont need to do anything at all. People have to realize that rep is a privlege, not some fun thing to do. People need to find out themselves.

Well people can still ask for rep and staff not knowing it.
I mean what if 5 friends got together and said "Lets give each other good rep". Now are they asking for it? No, they didn't put it in their sigs, they didn't post about. We can edit their rep if found out but since there are so many members now with high rep we can't tell that they went up real fast.

I like the idea of setting it back to 10 on every member.
But like said before members will go "Where is my rep? I want it back!!!".

I know, but its also foolish, that makes them making another account for nothing, because if YOURSELF has a small amount of rep, you will hardly give them, sometimes when your a n00b, it dosent send any.

But thats the poiint, you have to know that, are you gonna give good, or bad?, always there is no ned for that, because a post is either good or bad, or you could say neutral in other hands, you just have to think.Again, you have a point, but you must always think that, that leads up to bad rep, people like to give bad rep for people tha have said bad things about them, or about there art etc. without them wanting the truth, so i say, if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all.

I know, your one of the people who i havent seen asking, necssarily, but thats ok, n00bs want to get into the community, feel what its like to be an active member

Another thing we could do is generously give rep to those that do deserve it. That way, it will at least be a little more accurate.

I know, but thats the whole point of the system, you dont giverep for no reason XD

Yep, some people get good blocks when given, and some deserve it, they actually do.

I know, but thats another point of this thread, then that will atleast teach them that they shouldn't ask for it, i know, but easily one of them friends could report it to a mod or member of staff, but the thing they will also need, is proof, anyway andy, i thought you could look at other peoples rep.. O.o

yeh'd have to disable ur rep to spread negative attitude... yeh'd be most unpopular...

You guys make me feel guilty. half of my rep is good, like supporting ppl and that, half I don't even know what they're FOR. ^_^

I think just reset all the rule-breakers to - (something). if they care that much they won't disable rep and it should work. ;)

How do you decide who's a rule breaker or not? In fact, let's take a step back - do you know how many accounts are registered on PC? Too many to look at everyone individually and make a decision, that's for sure. That would take literally weeks of checking reputations, speaking to other mods, making a decision, then moving onto the next.

As for reputation itself, I've never been bothered about it. Someone gives me a good rep - fine. Someone gives me a bad rep - fine. I can take it, because it doesn't matter to me what other people think of me - if you don't like me for who I am, that's not my problem.
