I know it probably isn't the best idea, but is there a thread for reporting members that violate rules or cause unnecessary ruckus? You know, just in case a "normal" member catches someone before a mod does, allowing them to take appropriate action (i.e. infractions, etc.)

For example, samandmicheal has been spamming posts. (dunno if it's been taken care of by now)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying staff are bad at their jobs nor am I begging to make a "tattle" thread, it's just a thought.

Just wondering, and please don't take this the wrong way.

Just report and move on is all you can do.

Look at the very top right corner of your post. You'll see a red triangle. Click that

Yeah...just report the post and we'll get to it ASAP. That dude has been taken care of now, yes.

There's an icon, usually a triangle, badge, etc, that lets you report people. It's sent to anyone who's already in the appropriate group. The moderators here act rather fast. I reported some guy who was all like, "I'm teh flood" who spammed, and within 30 seconds he was taken care of.

A lot of moderators also have ways to get in contact with them outside the forums, so if it's SUPER ULTRA EMERGENCY IMPORTANT, I suppose you could use that as your avenue as well.

    A "thread" wouldn't make a difference.

Report any posts that have infractions.

If you catch a member that hasn't made reportable posts (say, a spambot, someone with an offensive name that's never posted, or you have proof to back up a suspicion that they'll be bad), then PM a higher staff member with that information.

Oh so the triangle serves that purpose. Thank you. I was just wondering.

Well, another forum I was on had such a thread, and I wasn't sure about Pokecommunity. I just was curious is all.

Some mods may have report pop-ups. For example, if a post was reported in the Heartgold/Soulsilver section, a mod for that section that was online would have a pop-up with the reported post and the reason for it. They also get e-mails with the reported posts.

Anyways, there's a report button that's shaped like a triangle. It's red too. It also has an exlamation mark in it.

Actually, PC has a modification to the report system... we don't get an email, and we don't get a popup. Active reports appear in a little statement under our other notifications.

Oh, and the report button isn't always a triangle. Sometimes it looks a bit different on other skins. :3

    Correct, Hiidoran. :3

Taken from *obvious profile*, it shows up as such:
    [PokeCommunity.com] Report a member

the 'triangle' on Pichu2 is seen as a shield:
    [PokeCommunity.com] Report a member

So it's just the button next to the 'post comment' button.

Ah, I see, it's different here. On another forum, we received a popup. However, we were able to disable it.

There are a few ways to report a member-

    1. Send endless reports about each post that has broken a rule (annoying)
    2. Have a group of people send reports against that one user (annoying but effective)
    3. Make a nice little report of one post, but have a bunch of links and references to other posts (very orderly and effective, just send one)
    4. PM a mod, global mod (and I haven't seen many of those around lately), or staff admin (extremely efficient). Don't PM a site admin, they have better stuff to do than read reports.

If I see you doing this I will kill you.

Unnecessary, since common sense would suggest to take a quick look at that member's posts, from where we can easily remove spam all at once instead of one at a time. Also, not all mods can delete posts in all forums, so there's no point in lumping it all together if they spam or whatever in various places.

You should only be doing this if it's an emergency (ie a porn spammer or something).

The report button is there for a reason. All it takes is one click on one of the member's posts with a short description of the problem and we will do it as soon as we read it. If something is taking a little bit longer, you need to understand that someone spamming or flaming is not something that needs to be dealt with on the spot, and that you should have some patience.

Nah, I just report multiple users instead of endlessly reporting one post. I know, the mods hate it, I'm an the administrator of my trainer card.

Anyway, I agree that #4 is only for emergencies and I should inform every mod I can, really, if it's a 20-point violation. #3 is mainly if a global mod or higher looks at it or I can just suggest to look at their posts if nobody else reported said user. But, as I am not a mod, I don't really know if anyone reported and I would just fix the problem myself.

EDIT: №5- report a user once and let the mods handle this. They're good.

The only reason reporting a bunch of times would even possibly work is because a higher staff would look up at the report count and go "WTF" when it's abnormally high. Then we'd go in to check what it is and if it's filled with one person reporting the same person/post over and over we will consider infracting you because that is just annoying.

One report is enough. If someone is mass-spamming, usually we will catch it as quickly as you will. If not, PM one of the online higher staff (probably a bit more efficient than reports) and it will be dealt with ASAP.

@_@ But most of your suggestions are, like everyone else said, either entirely wrong or annoying as hell.

How can someone be infracted just for being annoying? Shouldn't it be in the rules somewhere?
Maybe a good suggestion would be updating the rules so that the same person isn't reporting the same post like a million times.

Just a thought, thought it could be helpful to the staff.
