Is there such thing as an item clause in competitive battling? If there was what would the rules be?

~Sentuk
There is an item clause:

Smogon's Article said:
All Pokémon on a team must hold different items. This is not a standard clause in competitive play, but it is used in Nintendo tournaments.
Some other websites say that no more than four Pokémon can hold the same item, others exempt certain items (choice/focus items), etc.

One more thing, Is it considered a bad move to use a single type team in competitive play?

I'm debating if I should replace one of my smeargles move for substitute

It has: Spore, Belly Drum, Baton Pass, Block
yeah, block is the only one i can afford to replace with sub. I've actually never used block with my smeargle, which is why im really considering to replace it.
Sub > Block imo, that means you can use Salac with pretty good success.

Yes, though Dragon, Steel or Water monotypes can be decent.

Also, Item Clause is not a standard in competitive battling bar random tournaments including the clause (which is rare). So, there's no need to worry about it.

You won't win very much but I guess if you wanted to, nobody is going to stop you.

So...to win I'm going to have to ***** myself out and use the same overpowered Pokemon everyone else is using?

If everybody used the same overpowered Pokémon, all of the teams would be exactly the same. There are a lot of guides on how to build a well-balanced team which you can easily build around your favorite Pokémon. Sticking to one type makes you weak to a ton of counters and essentially hurts more than it helps.

Hm. I'll look into it, thanks.

So I decided I would start breeding pokemon, for the Battle Frontier today. I'm trying to breed Heracrosses right now. So far I have one Jolly, one Adamant but they both have Swarm. Is there any way to make Guts be the ability more often or do I just have to go through a crap ton of eggs and hope for the best? Male parent has Swarm, female parent has guts. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, so imma put it in there to be sure.

Before anyone says "just sav them" its because I feel dirty if I cheat in the Battle Frontier, and Beachy would never forgive me. ;o;

I think that no one is quite sure if the Ability of parents has anything to do with the Ability of the child. I suggest using the Adamant one and teaching it Megahorn and giving it a Focus Band/Sash, or have it know endure. That should work with Spawn

You need to just hatch a load of eggs.

Sub Salac Swam Cross could work.

Heracross@Salac Berry
Adamant / Jolly Nature
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Trait : Swarm
- Endure / Substitute (need a even HP iv to use sub)
- Reversal / Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Megahorn

SD then nail everything with boosted Megahorns and/or Reversal at low health. Horribly powerful which ever options you choose but for a guess in Frontier priority and Tar/Hippow/Snover/Aboma/Quick Claw/Sash screw it lol. If you are gonna use it a weather changer could be cute, rain might be nice as it halves its fire weak.

So I'm gonna change my UU team to be HO completely (It has one special and one mixed sweeper)

So my team is:
DS Uxie
Swellow
DD Feraligatr
SD Absol
SD Sceptile (Was MixTile before)
Arcanine

All are holding LO and uses the standard 252 / 252 / 4 EV spread. I don't know how Arcanine will fit, and it lacks a good move like DD / SD to boost it's stat. Does anyone have a better thing to take that slot?

Well it gets Howl....Canine that is. Blaziken is better imo at that though. SD Blazkien is nasty and is seriously one of the only things in UU that shreds through stall pretty easily.

Blazkien@Life Orb
252 ATT / 252 SPEED / 6 HP
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Blaze Kick
- Low Kick
- Stone Edge / Quick Attack / ThunderPunch.

Stone Edge for Altaria, QA for revenge and Duggy and T-Punch for Bro/King.

I guess my Blaziken from Emerald could do. Thanks DA.
And by good move I meant +2 Atk or +1 Atk / +1 Spd. Which what SD and DD do.
I think I'll go with Fire Punch since after a SD it's still very powerful and I hate a move with even 1% less accuracy.

Thanks, I guess I can raise them for that set; I need to AR a bunch of TMs, but I'll give it a shot. I guess I'll just keep hatching since I really want to use the Flame Orb + SD Set in battle tower just to wreck stuff.

Going by this:
Impish Qwilfish@Leftovers
248 HP/152 Def/104 SpD/4 Spe
- Spikes
- Pain Split
- Poison Jab
- Taunt/Aqua Jet

Any ideas for what to put instead of Pain Split, if anything?
Reposting this because it looks like it got lost :p

Yay people are using my set. ^__^

Anywho, no Pain Split is for healing, it lets you set up Spikes and shrug off the damage so its needed. Kinda like how Froslass did.

Ffffff-, okay. I'll have to see about getting the BP on SS for it.

I'm looking to do something like this.

Glaceon@Leftovers
Bold/Calm
126 SP.Attk/252 DEF/126 SP.Def
Fake Tears
Icy Wind
Wish
Barrier

Kinda looking to replace Wish and maybe decide on a specific nature. Maybe change the EV's. I dunno what does anyone else think.

I'm trying to be ambitious and go for the longest streak in the Battle Hall with a Jigglypuff and the Frontier thread in the OP is closed, so I thought I'd ask here for some guidance. I'm thinking of going Specs with Hyper Voice and BoltBeam. 252 Sp atk is a given, but I'm not sure what direction to take with the other 258 EVs. Modest for max Sp. atk, but I'm willing to change if I can be convinced otherwise.

8RstuPId2Y / Jigglypuff @ Choice Specs
Modest (+ Sp. atk - Atk)
252 Sp. atk
~Hyper Voice
~Ice Beam
~Thunderbolt
~

Is basically what I have in mind at the moment. Hyper Voice is definitely staying because STAB, but I'll be willing to ax BoltBeam if better alternatives are given.
