Is this a good moveset for my Aggron? I thought it was pretty good, but I want to know what the people think.

Aggron @ Leftovers
EV's-252 Attack, 252 Defence, 6 Hp ( I think that adds up)
Moveset-Metal Burst
Stealth Rock
Roar
Rock Polish

I was going to put him at the front of my party, so he could use Stealth Rock right away and then Rock Polish to make sure Roar goes first every time. Metal Burst because I didn't know what else to put there.

Please give me your thoughts, and thnx in advance.

Aggron @ Leftovers
252 HP / 252 Attack / 6 Speed
Adamant
Stone Edge / Iron Head
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Toxic / Roar

I wouldn't lead with it, so you can come in on weak physical attackers choiced into one move. From there, you can set up your rocks and hit stuff hard with whatever attacks you choose.

Aggron doesn't need any defense EV investment, HP will actually let him take hits much better. Max attack for obvious reasons...I wouldn't use this outside of UU as it's outclassed by many other physical walls that don't have a horrible 4x weakness to ground and fighting, two incredibly common attacking types.

Cant choose my starter?!

I finnaly got Platinum and its the first game i will be EV training on. Im going to do a quick play and blow through the game with 1-3 pokemon so i can beat the E4. After i beat them i will start breeding and EV training my team, problem is i cant choose my starter who i will breed a new one of later for my EV trained team.

So I want to pick either Piplup or Chimchar. Can you guys give me some opinions on who you like and why? Also advice on how to use them in a competitive team

Thanks

I'd pick Piplup since it has a great Defenses and Sp.Attack while speed being far from "awesome" (+ it has easier time in gyms not named Gardenia), but if you llike a fast glass cannon (great attack and crap defenses), Chimchar would be for you (but it's going to be dying much more than Piplup would)

both are great overall imo, so choose what you prefer - but if you want to sweep through without dying so quickly, you should choose Piplup

Is Pikachu good? It has great speed and sp. attack... only thing it lacks is hp, defense and sp. defense.... As long as you can protect Pika, can it be a wrecking force or is Raichu it's only hope for survival?

pika doesnt have great sp atk or speed but pika come out with a surprise sweep at times, heres a good set

pika@light ball
hasty or naive
152 Atk / 104 SpA / 252 Spe
thunder bolt/volt tackle (i like volt tackle dew to the extra kick)
brick break
grassknot
sub

this is my own personal set

pika@light ball
hasty or naive
152 Atk / 104 SpA / 252 Spe
volt tackle
grass knot
sub
focuspunch

and

pika@ salac berry
hasty or naive
152 hp / 52 def/ 52 sp def / 252 spe
knock off
wish
endure
protect/charm

i like this set as its good for destroying none swords dance physical sweepers garchomp and ttar or heracross knock off is for getting rid of focus sash from infernape and wish is good for restoring skarmory (as you can switch in safely against physical sweepers as they are likely to power up.
hope that helps

i think that pika wouldnt defeat raichu in battle (i think) but pika is much more flexible and because of light orb he can be a more deadly force than its r
elative

The latter set is done by Raichu much better, there is no reason to EVER make a support set out of something with 35/30/40 defenses.

A set for a Manaphy @ Leftovers (Uber ladder)
252 Sp Atk / 252 Speed
Current set:
-Surf
-Aqua Ring
-Ice Beam
-Psychic

How should this set be tweaked?

1. The move Psychic sucks in ubers. Hence why even when STAB'd its of little use there and is never used.

2. Aqua Ring is garbage, if you want a healing move use Kyogre support + Rest for a 100% insta heal.

Manaphy@Leftovers / Life Orb
80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tail Glow
- Rest
- Surf
- Ice Beam / Grass Knot

Standard Manaphy. 308 Speed to beat most Kyogre, Groudon and Ho-Oh. Although you can use 216 speed evs @ timid to beat max speed jolly Rayquaza or even max speed to speed tie with max speed Palkia.

Ice Beam has better coverage whilst Grass Knot beats Kyogre. Ice Beam is better though usually hitting Rayquaza, Lati@s whilst maintaining neutral coverage on Dialga etc.

Rest heals you 100% in rain with no drawbacks, so as said use with Kyogre support.

Manaphy@Leftovers
252 HP / 36 Sp.A / 220 Speed
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Surf
- Tail Glow / Calm Mind
- Ice Beam

Sub attacker, same as before really but doesnt rely on Kyogre support as much. 404 HP = 101 hp subs to hide behind to boost your special attack behind. 101 hp subs also beat s-toss bliss, but that isnt common much in ubers since they usually dont pack s-toss there.

Not to sound like a noob, but why is there nothing on double battling in PC Strategies and Movesets Forum?

I mean really nothing can top the fast paced, hard hitting battling found only in Double Battles
Am i right?
Just curious, and please, honest answers only, nothing mean or riduculing
thanks

Because no one does it and really no one takes it seriously, pretty much.

Great idea thanks

Though I guess I shouldn't have Groudon on the same team

Could I get a set for a Drifloon and Frosslass? I fail at making sets, but I want to EV Train certain Pokes. I want to start out with these two. Just any good set will be fine, prefferably Sweeper sets, walls, or stallers. Thanks!

Empoleon?

Ok so once i beat the E4 and start EV training i am going to breed my starter, yes i got a female, so i can use it on my competitive team. I as the title says will have an Empoleon. What do you think of what i have here?

Empoleon @ Hasty
item-Leftovers/Quickclaw
EVs-252 Spe/ 80 HP/ 176 Atk
-Earthquake
-Ice Beam
-Roar
-Stealth Rock

Ok so Empoleon will end up being my lead. Stealth rock is self explanitory. Roar im not sure on but its defensive for forceing a switch of oppnents lead. Earthquake to take out opponents lead, if it cant thats where Roar would come in. Ice Beam is just a STAB move with some coverage ability.

Also as you can tell ill rely on speed to beat other leads, hopefully.

This is my first attempt so if it sucks well im a noob haha

Now GO! Tell me what you think, good or bad and recomend anything you think will help

Lead Froslass
Froslass@ Focus Sash
Nature : Timid(-Atk, +Spe)
EV : 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Spikes
-Taunt
-Destiny Bond
-Ice Beam / Shadow Ball

I've never used Drifblim that much but Double Status seems a pretty decent set.

Drifblim@ Leftovers
Nature : Calm(-Atk, +SpD)
EV : 80 HP / 252 SpD / 176 Spe
-Hypnosis
-Will-O-Wisp
-Shadow Ball / Hidden Power Flying
-Destiny Bond / Explosion

Hope I helped ^____~

I also wanna use Skymin but have no idea what to do except Leaf Storm

No no no :P You can just use a basic sweeper set

Skymin@Life Orb
Serene Grace
Timid Nature
252 SpA/252 Spe/4 HP

  • Seed Flare
  • Air Slash
  • Earth Power
  • HP Ice/HP Fire
Dual STAB moves are obvious (Plus the SpD drops and Flinch hax with Serene Grace are nice), and Earth Power adds coverage. HP Ice for Dragons, HP Fire for levitating steels that otherwise wall you (Mainly Bronzong).

I also wanna use Skymin but have no idea what to do except Leaf Storm

Leaf Storm=no, seed flare is better.

Shaymin-S@Life Orb / Choice Specs
Timid Nature
252 SP.ATT / 252 SPEED / 6 DEF
- Air Slash
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Fire/Ice]

All out attacker.

Shaymin-S@Life Orb / Leftovers
Timid Nature
252 SP.ATT / 252 SPEED / 6 DEF
- Air Slash
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Growth

Growth sweeper.

Shaymin-S@Leftovers
Timid Nature
252 SP.ATT / 252 SPEED / 6 DEF
- Air Slash
- Seed Flare / Leech Seed
- Earth Power
- Substitute

Sub attacker.

Quick Claw is banned in competitive play if that's what you plan on using it for :O

Hasty is a pretty horrible nature for Empoleon, but it can pull off a lead set pretty well:

Empoleon@ Chople Berry
Quiet Nature
252 HP / 238 SpA / 20 Atk
Hydro Pump
Aqua Jet
Grass Knot
Stealth Rock

Credit to Vance and D_A for this set. With a combination of Hydro Pump and Aqua Jet, you can take out many common leads nowadays. Grass Knot sends Swampert running for cover, and Chople Berry protects you from fighting attacks. It's actually bulky enough to survive an Earthquake from Swampert or Metagross.

You generally don't want to rely on Empoleon to outspeed stuff, as its base speed is rather poor, unless of course you're running an agility set. But since you want to lead, bulky is better =P

No one does it?-last i checked i can still get a doubles wifi match on PBR
No one takes it seriously?- go to youtube and you will find quite a few battlers who actually build double battling strategies
