• Well, that just secured Mitt's position as the Republican candidate (Not that there was much question to begin with.) They're both terrible, but I suppose Santorum was the worse of the two, so I'm glad there's no chance of him winning now.

• It looks like America's headed towards another "lesser of two evils" election.

I may not agree with all of Santorum's opinions, but he's come off as brutally honest, which is something rare amongst politicians these days that's worthy of respect.

Romney and Obama, while both capable leaders in their own rights, are hard to read since they seemingly change face every day. :/

• Okay, I am a little bit unhappy with this.

At first I thought it was a post on April Fools Day. I heard nothing about it on the news tonight, Darn you FOX.
Apaarently I had endorsed Santorum, but is there a reason to quit?

• The last thing this country needs is a hardcore religious president that doesn't understand the rights of its citizens. The fact that santorum won even a single poll is scary enough. I mean a man that thinks the laws of his religion out weighs the rights of the American people? Praise the "lord" he's out.

It's bittersweet, because, on one hand, I wanted to see this farce of a GOP crash and burn as much as possible, but on the other, we no longer have the risk of this man becoming president:
The man who said "I don't want to make black people's lives better".
The man who promotes income inequality.
The man who supports discrimination for pre-existing conditions.
The man who called President Obama a snob for wanting everyone to have the opportunity to attend higher education.
The man who vehemently wants to bomb Iran.
The man who believes that Global Warming is a hoax and "political science" as opposed to climate science.
The man who found it remarkable that Obama is Pro-Choice because he is black.
The man who made it a main point of his presidency to battle porn.
The man who wanted to throw up at J.F.K.'s speech on separation of church and state.
The man who felt that women aren't suited for front-line combat because they invoke "emotions".
The man who feels that contraception is "a license to do things".
The man who told rape victims that the possible resulting pregnancy was a gift from god (their rapist).
The man who claims that single mothers breed more criminals.
The man who wants to abolish the food stamps program because of the obesity problem in America.
The man who says the high price of drugs is justified by the money people dish out on iPads.
The man whose stance on marriage equality is that marriage is X, not Y. (napkin, paper towel; water, beer; tea, basketball; tree, car)
And of course, the man who compared homosexuality to bestiality and pedophilia.

I may not agree with all of Santorum's opinions, but he's come off as brutally honest, which is something rare amongst politicians these days that's worthy of respect.

Being brutally honest about one's bigotry and willful ignorance ain't something one should be proud of.

My point was that with Santorum, you know what you're getting off the bat as opposed to every single other candidate, who change face every time they make a speech, so you don't exactly know what they really believe.

Besides, it's not as if Santorum could even legislate any of his loony opinions even if he was president. America has a system of checks and balances to prevent just that.

• Ohmagoodness people, we should be more worried about CISPA, and not what a presidential candidate is doing wrong...

Although I do believe everyone should have a more-or-less equal income, and equal rights to education. He's off on my list of nice people. Yay Mitt Romney! (Actually, none of them really)

SO HAPPY SO HAPPY SO HAPPY SO HAPPY.

Have I mentioned I'm happy? I cannot stand this guy or his views and I would not be thrilled under his presidency so thank goodness he dropped out of the race.

For what reasons, out of curiosity? It can't possibly be the "smaller government" thing that conservatives and tea baggers are constantly calling for, because most of those reasons would give more authority and power to the government if anything. Most of it under the pretense of bigotry and "religious freedom" [to impose viewpoints and choice of lifestyle on everyone in a communist (aka far far left) fashion]. If you are someone who truly feels that religious, sexual, and racial bigotry along with willful ignorance and anti-intellectualism are endearing and respectable traits in a person, then k.

• *phew* You guys sure dodged a bullet there.

I don't think he would have stood a chance against Obama to begin with. But thankfully we don't even having to worry about the possibility of a Santorum presidency anymore.

Not that much of his ideas would have actually come to pass, but why would you want an idiot as president? Again.

Now we just have to worry about robo-Mitt

• This is sad. He would have made an awful candidate and Obama could have walked all over him. Now the Republicans are going to stop most of their bickering with each other and turn on Obama. Oh well. Had to happen eventually. Adios, Rick.

Before Santorum entered politics he was okay with abortion. Now he's vehemently opposed to it in every way. I would guess that he's as much a fake as anyone else you could name and that the only difference is he's better at convincing people otherwise. (And with regards to his not being completely honest I also suspect that he and Rick Perry have something in common, if you know what I mean.)

Yeah... that generally happens. In the last two elections he ran in, McCain is like a different person. As the years go on the base of the party goes further and further to the (anti-)social right. And the closer someone gets to securing the nomination the more and more they try to appeal to that base. Every year the Republican base draws a line in the sand further and further to the right, so that "to meet in the middle" actually is not the middle.

Which is not to say Santorum did not hold such strong views. I'm sure he did. Just, to his credit, he doesn't seem to have ever run on them. I never really researched the matter, but his camp put out a while ago that he hasn't ever voted against contraception, for example, despite how he may feel about it.

I did not like his policies (socially or economically) or the person he put out on displayed (what the hell was with that 'snob' comment?). But, he seems to have dropped out to concentrate on his daughter and her ailments, so good on him I guess.

His time as flavour of the month lasted waaaay to long.

• I am honestly happy he's out; he was lucky to even get this far.

But that still means Mitt looks to be the de facto Republican candidate, who isn't all happy sunshines and farts himself. Still, watching how this whole Republican nomination race hs been going, Rick made it watchable on television...hell laughable.

• I was pretty upset because he was the guy I was crossing my fingers for to win the Republican nomination. Because I really wanted a real conservative representing our party, not someone who has an R by their name but they are really liberal. This was part of the reason I didn't bother to vote in the primaries. While we had one or two good candidates, most of them were wither not really conservative or they didn't really have the intellect to run the country. I was actually rooting for Bachmann in the primaries because one, she was a Tea Party candidate and two, if there was ever to be a female president, then she would have to be conservative and she was interesting. However, I started to have doubts about her ability to run the country, but nonetheless, we share the same views. I guess Romney wins, I mean there's no way in hell Ron Paul is going to win and I don't want him to be president anyway.

I guess I can say I'm willing to give Romney a chance, tho I think he's a liberal with an R by his name. Nonetheless, anyone but Obama...
