Between HeartGold, SoulSilver, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, we've had a total of nine roaming legendaries: Raikou, Latias, Latios, Entei, Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres, Mesprit, and Cresselia (if I'm forgetting any, feel free to post here!). Out of them all, which ones were you able to successfully capture? How difficult were they? Have you trained them, or left them in your PC after catching? Of the ones you've captured, which ia your most favorite and why?

I still need to catch Mesprit and Cresselia to transfer to White then X and Y! Considering I insist on catching all legendaries in pokeballs (or in Giratina's case, dive balls) this could be rather difficult what with them being roaming and all!

I was able to capture Suicune, Raikou and Entei (yay!) in Heart Gold if I remember correctly. I had so much trouble trying to catch them in Gold it wasn't funny. In fact, I don't think I ever caught them in Gold, haha. I've also caught Cresselia, Mesprit and the legendary bird trio, which were surprisingly not that hard to catch! The eon duo though I've never captured. They for some reason just won't stay in the ball when I throw it at them while they're a) asleep/paralyzed and b) on literally 1HP!

Oh well, you win some you lose some I suppose haha.

I know for sure I had caught Suicune and Raikou in one run of SoulSilver, and one run in Platnium I believe I caught Mespirit. I usually got too frustrated chasing them around. Entei was the one that tended to frustrate me the most, though.

Over the course of there respective releases I believe that i have caught every one of them exsept for eather latios or latias. I remember trying to catch mespirit in platinum and having a fit everytime it fled. When a friend told me to use mean look i couldn't have been happier. The rest of them were a snap to catch after that.

I don't believe i trained many after catching, just having them made me happy.

When where the birds roaming O.O I didn't know they where. Those are the only ones I didn't catch, then. I trained some of them. The beasts, and Mespirit. The other I never trained. Just boxed them and transferred them.

A lot of them were pretty easy for me to find, the problem was catching them!

In my experience, the hardest Roaming Legendary to catch was Raikou. I would always run into Raikou but I could never successfully catch it. I never had a Pokemon with Mean Look so I had to keep running into it and try to attack it with a faster Pokemon, one that wasn't going to kill the Raikou. It's a lot harder than it sounds. Catching it was even harder. It would never stay in the ball and it always end up running away. I really didn't want to use my Master Ball because I was going to save it for something hard to catch, like Mewtwo. I did catch it however, I caught all of them before. I never used Raikou, or any of the Legendaries for that matter, which means that I never trained them either.

Latias is very cute, which is why it's my favorite Roaming Legendary. It's also pretty powerful as well.

Iirc, the birds started roaming after you get the National 'dex in Platinum and talked to Professor Oak in Eterna City?

It's been a really long time since I've chased after any roamers, but I do recall catching the birds, Mesprit and Cresselia on a past file of Platinum and I think just Entei on a past one of HeartGold. They're really frustrating to chase all over the map, so it always takes me forever to catch them...

The only one of those games I've ever played legitimately was Diamond, which was with one of my friends, since he was the one who owned the game. Anyways, I still remember our frantic search for Mesprit, since we thought something was gonna happen in the cave in Celestic Town, once you'd caught all three of them. Of course I later found out that wasn't the case, but we weren't successful in catching it either. A few years later we were playing through the game again though, since there was a bunch of stuff we hadn't unlocked, due to not having seen every Pokemon in the regional dex. But while on our way to catch the Friday Drifloon, out of nowhere, completely to our surprise, Mesprit suddenly appeared. Since we didn't want to risk having it get away, we used our Masterball to catch it, and instantly afterwards went to catch Uxie and Azelf, to check if anything was actually up with the cave. And while Uxie was a breeze, Azelf for some reason chose to be super difficult that time, and we didn't end up actually catching it xD We never played that version again together, since he sold it a while afterwards, so we never got to know for ourselves if anything was actually up with the Celestic cave haha. Oh well :D

In HGSS I would use my Masterball on one of the roamers and would let the other one just run around forever. In DPPt though I found it easier with the Poketch to track down the roamers so Mesprit and Cresselia weren't too hard to get. I always try to get Cresselia. Really neat design, although I was, at the time, disappointed by its poor offensive abilities. I don't think I ever got the legendary bird though, because I could simply transfer one up from Gen III.

After a lot of suffering I caught 'em all. Cresselia was the biggest pain next to the roamers of the 4th gen and I have so many awful memories trying to catch them. xD; But like some others, I toss the master ball at the first roamer I see and figure out methods to try and catch the rest. Mean Look works wonders.

Most just sat in the PC box after. Collector here. :D

    Caught all, trained all!!! Hehe

My favorite roaming legendary has to be suicune, he's just plain awesome!
