Rocks Vs. DSI?

  • So i was on yahoo today and i checked out there news section and
found out that someone from floridia had a birthday and his present
was a new Dsi, but when he opened the box up he found
some rocks and a chinese newspaer.

The kid mom went back to walmart where she purchased the new dsi and
they wouldn't give her a refund. They said contact nintendo of course
nintendo did nothing about it and walmart gave the mother a 20$ gift card.

The news report copyied from yahoo:

    April 27 2:53 P.M.
Jodi Wykle knew her son would be thrilled when she gave him a new Nintendo DS for his birthday.
    Instead, he was rocked.
According to WTSP-TV, the confused teen opened up his gift only to find bunch of stones and a rolled up Chinese newspaper in place of the popular handheld.
    Rocks Vs. DSI?
All I got was a rock.

Needless to say, mom was equally stunned.
"When he opened it, he was pulling the seal off, my sister-in-law carries a pocket knife and she opened it and that's when he pulled it out and it was Chinese newspaper and a bunch of rocks," she explained.
The troubling discovery prompted the Florida woman to contact the local Wal-Mart where she bought the curious box and complain, but reportedly workers there told her it wasn't their problem and that she should contact Nintendo instead. Of course, Nintendo told her roughly the same thing, leaving mother and son with a $138 box of rocks.
"They don't want to do nothing. They want me to keep the box of rocks. I'm not buying a box of rocks for $138," she said.
Amazingly enough, however, Wal-Mart soon caved after learning that the same box of rocks had been previously returned by another disgruntled customer. How exactly it made it back onto store shelves remains a mystery, but for her troubles, Wykle was given a full refund and a $20 gift card.
It's not the first time Wal-Mart has gotten into hot water for selling a questionable handheld. Earlier this month, a PSP system bought at a different Wal-Mart store in Florida was found to contain a memory stick filled with pornographic images.
    Rocks Vs. DSI?Buzz up!

So i want to know how do you feel on this? Have you had any problems with your dsi or anything nintendo has made?

No i haven't but I once got the the Zelda GBA SP and it wasn't in the box, the clerk at the store forgot to put it in. They apologised, gave me my console and a £15 voucher for the trouble.

Never buy your electronics at Wal-Mart, kids.

I honestly feel bad for the guy. I yet to have a DSi, and I'd hate to open up my package and discover junk inside of it. I would have flipped out for sure and demand Nintendo to do something for me.

  • That's quite insane. I hope the one who's replaced the original contents will be cursed.

And a USB with porno images? WTF?!

  • I agree, I buy my video games at either at Game stop or EB Games. There was another report at walmart where this kid payed for a psp and on the memory stick there was porn XD.

Edit: Yeah what he said ^^.

They do the same things, honestly. Almost every nation-wide store chain has done some shady dealings in the past with resealing products without actually ...ya know... being sure the products are in the boxes.

My roommates were browsing PC games at Wal-Mart once and were about to buy one of them, but as they picked the box up, they figured it felt rather light. A quick shake revealed there was nothing moving inside and a squeeze confirmed nothing was packed in the plastic-sealed container.

I've only bought two games from Wal-Mart for my PS3. Will never do it again; way to much money, espeically when I found out that my local GameStop had a discount for certain games...

i bet some employee there opened and took it for himself then just filled the box with rocks and a newspaper to make it feel like something's inside, its what i would do :)

  • I want a box of rocks! >:O

Seriously, Wal-Mart, or the person who packaged it, was either playing a practical joke or they're just plain stupid.

  • We don't even have Wal-Mart in Brazil.

But this reminds me those parents that put a bunch of rocks and clothes inside an Xbox 360 box and gave it as a Christmas Present, lol.
