Time and time again, I've come up with this idea, so I've finally decided to post it.

In the ROM Hacking section, there is the Team Discussions subforum, but usually, people who post on threads there are ones who want to stay with a team and work for them on multiple occasions.

Sometimes, I feel as if a subforum could be made for Hacking Specialists, where people could post their Hacking Profiles, and be asked to accomplish a single task that certain people are not able to.

These include inserting tiles, changing the titlescreen, changing the World Map, providing a single script or ASM routine, changing trainer backsprites, etc. This way, a PM could be easily sent to a specialist, and get a job done quickly. The creation of this thread would likely result in a resurgence in the production of hacks, and possibly prevent certain hacks from being cancelled or put on hiatus.

The subforum could also include requests, for those needed tasks that needed to be accomplished but could not be found in a hacking profile.

Threads could be indicated by the [Profile] and [Request] tags.

Thank you for reading and considering this idea.

I'm not sure if I would be of any use... all I can do is make .PKM files. This seems rather technical.

A simple thread might work, but not a subforum. However, you could turn things around. Since your problem seems to lie with team member consistency and exclusivity, you could just ask for elasticity on team threads and let some people in for a single task, then out of the team. Hired (pixel) blades, if you catch my drift.

I guess a single thread could work. But asking for those tasks in your Team Discussions thread might not work, as it will take time before the actual person you are looking for sees you thread - if at all. The purpose of this idea is to have a very convenient and accessible "hackerbase" to aid you in your hack. This would be helpful especially for those tasks that are essential for every hack. I've seen many occurrences of people not being able to follow tutorials correctly.

I, for one, don't see a problem with this. It seems like a pretty good idea to me! But I think it might end up with a lot of people begging for help from certain people and never really accomplishing the task of making a hack on their own. Instead of learning what to do... every time they hit a hitch they will just have someone else get them over it--without understanding how. And that doesn't benefit anyone.

I like this idea actually. I don't really hack anymore, but I would have definitely used it back in the day. This should definitely be just a single thread though, considering the relatively small number of people that would probably use it.
