RuneScape VS WoW

    I saw this thread and a mod said someone could revive it... so here goes.

    DISCLAIMER: I no longer play either of these games, so I don't care what **** you post to try to make me mad just because I favor RuneScape and you think WoW is better. I DON'T CARE. I have played BOTH games and I made a non-biased decision.

    I was outraged at some of the posts in the last thread. People were like "WoW owns, I've never played RS but I heard it sucks so no..."

    I'm not gonna give a biased opinion like that. I have played RS and WoW. Here are my lists.

    RuneScape: Pros
    PKing IS BACK (someone in the last thread said that it was a thing of the past, wrong. A few weeks ago Jagex put it back in the game with minor changes to prevent RWT)
    Nicer community (see WoW cons)
    your not tied to one skill/profession/race
    the gameplay is simpler and more refined
    lots of fun minigames like castle wars
    lots of skills, i dont remember the exact amount, but there has to be 20+
    PHREE (even though to get the full experience, get members)

    RuneScape: Cons
    Sub-par graphics (they do have RS HD, but my comp is slow so i've never tried it)
    the grinding can be boring (however, this isn't so bad in my eyes. if everything was fast and easy, the game would be boring, it would have no sense of accomplishment when you finally got that 99 skill)
    the updates from december of 07 weakened the games community (by that i mean there arent many veterans from before that time, it's mainly people who have been playing for a short time. At least they have manners unlike the WoW people.)
    you have to be human, no race choices

    WoW: Pros
    better graphics
    more of a community (more players)
    training is less boring
    different worlds, so your not stuck to the same landscape 24/7
    mounts (horses you ride, for those who haven't played WoW)
    different races
    wayyy more quests (20,000 vs around 200-300)

    WoW: cons
    the high leveled players are stuck up (if your not above level 50, you get noob every 3 seconds)
    the interface is too complicated IMO
    the game controls are touchy and hard to follow
    there is so much content, it's hard to keep track of. the bad interface doesn't help either.

    Based on this information, I like RuneScape better. Please read the disclaimer before you post. Thank you.

    I vote in Runescape. The quests and skills are the best. I have many friends playing this game.

    I love pking :P

    Runescape, sure i hate the game now and i think its rubbish as i grew out of it.

    But when i was playing it i spent alot of time on it, you get lost but it was quite funny exploring new places. and plenty of things to do.

    With wow i found they just put you on the game and said here's how you kill now go away, i had no where to go after i did the easy quests and no sense of direction. everytime i went someone i got manhandled. all i did was end up mining, whats the point in that?

    I just found WoW so dam boring and i don't know how anyone can take an interest in it.
     
    I'm still in the opinion that they really can't be compared. Apples versus oranges, and all that.

    World of Warcraft is a massive game with a huge budget. Runescape is tremendously cheaper (and not just to play it, but the money put into developing it). There's no contest; WoW has more features all around. It's impossible for Runescape to be close on a purely subjective view of feature listings.

    Sure, you may claim "WoW is too big," "Runescape has nicer people," "WoW gets boring," or "I have to pay for WoW," but all of those are opinions. From a completely un-biased point of view, there is no way Runescape would ever touch WoW. It's not a bad game, but it's not in the same league as WoW. Runescape may lead the minor league, while WoW is dominating the majors, but they'll never be faced against one another.

    It's like taking a Welcome to Texas pamphlet from a rest area and comparing it to War and Peace. They are technically both reading material, but one is free and the other costs money and had about a thousand times more effort put into its creation. But you may like the pamphlet more as "War and Peace is old," or "War and Peace is too long," or even "I just think Texas is nicer." But it's bloody obvious which is better from just glancing at them.

    And if anyone complains that "WoW is too expensive," I will get quite angry as I'll have to write up another rant about how much you waste on entertainment in other ways compared to if you just played WoW.
     
    Well I currently play WoW, but I used to play RS way back when (Back when Zezima was still top dog xD, hell I remember playing RS Classic...)

    I'm not going to lie, RuneScape was my VERY FIRST MMORPG. Back when I did play RS, I thought WoW sucked caused it was $15, and RS was the sh!t, I rememeber coming home from school, getting on my computer, then mining, traveling back to uhhh...Lumbridge? (I can't remember) and then smelting the ores...3 years later (which would be 2 years earlier from this post) I played a 10 day WoW trial....I fell in love with it (I bought a month and then my time ran out. I hadn't played WoW until my mom got it for my Birthday this year xD After 2 weeks I've gotten to level 33, and I like that level 30s get mounts now). And about the community being nicer on RS, I really think it's about which server you're on, I remember that in RS I'd be called a n00b ALL THE TIME, but I hardly ever get called a n00b in WoW. (I know I probably didn't explain my opinion clearly, but w/e, I'll get to the main point) I like WoW more! Although I did like RS when I played it, I don't think I can go back to it anymore >.<
     
    I enjoy Runescape much better. I've made nice friends on that game, plus I'm a veteran so I know my way around it.
     
    I have played both for a couple years each, starting with Runescape.

    RUNESCAPE
    Pros:Lot's of skills to level up
    Fair questing
    Easy-to-use interface

    Cons:
    People in there all act like 8-year-olds, with the constant name calling and profanities
    Grinding skills is boring as hell
    You walk to slow, and can't run long enough
    No matter what, your character looks really stupid
    Terrible combat system

    Overall: 4/10

    WoW
    Pros:
    Extremely friendly community (I dunno where PlatinumDawn got that idea from)
    Loads and loads of fun quests
    Control armies, tanks, turrets, and dragons
    PvP
    Mounting (ride loads of different animals)
    Ginormous environments
    Group questing
    Dungeons
    Raiding
    Wonderful interface (just hard to get used to)

    Cons:
    Fairly hard to get used to

    Overall: 9.5/10
     
    I tried playing Runescape twice but It was really boring and didn't know wut to do my first time playing it... lol I use to play WoW for 6 months maybe, but now nope... I prefer WoW over runscape! sorry runscape fans...

    Runescape: I like it because it had diversity to its quests and stuff like that

    Wow: Better graphics, mounts, but the quests are REALLY repetative. Mostly killing or collecting quests which can be boring
     
    well i've never been a fan of WoW, i played Runescape back in the day, and i played the hell out of it. i got pretty good too. I had a green mask, high skills, i had found fun people to play with. but then jagex really started messing it up and i just couldn't handle it anymore. taking away PKing, setting a prices to each item. it just got so damn strict it was hardly even enjoyable anymore.
     
    Wow, I can't believe you're comparing something that a team of monkeys made, compared to a giant video game company. For starters; runescape HD has graphics that are still fugly and horrible to look at, and sure if you think it has a nicer community, why do people get tricked into PK areas and getting PK'd? Not very nice is it? Not once in my time of playing WoW have I been called a noob, I never asked questions without searching first. So if you're going to ask "How do I attack?" you might as well go back to playing pokemon for the easier interface. I have no idea how you find WoW's interface complicated, it's the most easiest interface I've ever had to use and Runescape's interface is a lot more harder and limited to only a few things. And at least you'll have a better chance of surviving against a PK attack in WoW.

    [true fact]Scamming is a lot more harder to do in WoW mainly because most players have a brain unlike 99% of runescape players. Just use a cheating app to make it look like you have 1mil gold and trick someone into giving you a l337 item on Runescape[/true fact]


    And that's my 2 cents on this comparison
