Saddest Anime Ever?

Hm, if movies count, then Grave of the Fireflies certainly.

For anime series, I'd say either Air TV or Simoun.

Full moon wo sagashite for me it was very sad.....but very good as well

Well so far It's Myself ; Yourself for me.
Spoiler:

ANYTHING by Key animation and Sai Kano. Also Bokurano and finally I have to say School Days was sad (What happened to Kotonoha).

Death Note when Kira died, yes I know he was a crazed maniacal murderer, yet you feel so sad when he dies ;<

I would like to second that as the saddest- as for series... I don't want too many anime series but...
Arc the Lad was pretty sad at parts. Arc the lad anime series

Now and Then, Here and There for certain. Not only is it sad, it's horrifying and disturbing as well, all while remaining mostly realistic.

I haven't watched many anime series but the last episode of Code Geass was sad. You see it coming but it still affects you when it happens.

I guess Five Centimeters per Second was kinda sad-ish.
and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to drown in tears because of Clannad: After Story, but it's not finished airing and stuff yet, so it doesn't really count.

shrug

Most Key anime will get me to cry, AIR TV more so than the rest. Looking to see how well Little Busters will do in that department

Judging by the responses, I should really watch this AIR TV. Anyway, so far the saddest anime/movie I've seen was 5 Centimeters Per Second. Some might say the ending is more optimistic than you might think but the overall tone was pretty sad. Made me all...hollow inside. (;~;)

...who says it ends on an optimistic note? it kinda didnt, but yeah, at it was sad, but hey, thats reality, sometimes you don't get the girl, thats the way it is

Man, I'll never forget that one scene when the soldier comes after her (the one that offers her water) and she goes crazy. I was literally cheering at the end of that.
