Screen Burn is a thing

I remember Tsutarja/Zach said "screen burn is still a thing" in my screen saver thread when I said "who even deals with screen burn anymore"? And now I feel stupid because I am actually experiencing screen burn that's worsening on my Google Pixel 3 that I bought used.

I have a Google Pixel 3, and in less than three months of having it, my bottom status bar and Google Chrome had already burned in. As well as the Genshin Impact ui (that you literally cannot clear off the screen while playing) slowly, but surely burning into my screen entirely.

OLED sucks, but anyway.

Has anyone ever experienced screen burn in/screen ghosting? Be it back when screensavers were necessary on Windows 95 machines or be it your OLED/QLED/AMOLED phones or tvs. Because, I googled "google pixel burn in" and wow, it's very common, how dumb.

Not asking for advice, as it's already too late to reduce the burn in, tbh, although, I do want to hear your guys burn in stories if you have any.

so idk about oled and all that but i got a tale for y'all

this was years ago, my grandmother would play dr. mario on the tv in the living room bc it was bigger than the one in the playroom. well my grandfather doesn't rly like video games lol so he was always annoyed when she would play on that one. but you know in dr. mario, he just kind of chills on the screen right. lmao she played so much that dr. mario was burned into the tv screen. my grandmother noticed immediately and was just like "oh well ig" and so they're watching tv later and my grandfather is squinting at the tv and he's like "...what is that? that right there in the corner?" and my grandmother's just like "oh, you're just seeing stuff" dskalfdjs

I had severe screen burning with my old Galaxy S8+ which started to show symptoms of it after barely 8 months of use. I sold it and got a brand new LG V50 which I've been using for almost 2 years with no burn in issues. (LG has a bad reputation with burned OLED screens but I'm still in love with my phone)

My Huawei Nova 3i (last phone I had before my current one) had ridiculous screen burn at 2 years old. I could perfectly see the lower rows of my home screen icons while I was in an app lmao. 'Twas the result of keeping my screen on for too long while doing nothing with the phone (i had the "never sleep while charging" mode turned on so i didn't have to fingerprint unlock everytime).

It was kinda funky ngl but never really bothered me all that much. My new phone's still an OLED so there's a good chance I get to experience that again, and I can't wait lol.

I usually don't have burn in issues besides the status bar location on my phone, but I try to keep it moving around or moving icons around to try and keep the burn-in minimal. It's happened on my Samsung S7 and Huawei P20 Pro but it's something I live with because it's in a part of the screen I usually don't look at all the time.
