on leaf green if played for 70hours+ but havnt run into any im starting to lose hope.has any1 noticed tat shinys appear more often on ruby and sappiha??
 
I started a new game on the LG and the very first Pokemon I ran into was a shiny Ratata. I didn't have any pokeballs to catch it with, but it's a worthless little runt anyways...

It's completely random. Each time an egg hatches, you have a 1 in 8192 chance of finding it. But it remains that ratio no matter what... some people believe that the more you hatch/the more you encounter, the higher your probability of finding one. Not true. That only counts if there's a limited amount of Pokes, and each time you kill/run, it disappears from the pool. For example, if there were 100 Zubats (and ONLY 100 Zubats), and one was a Shiny, then you have a 1/100 chance. If each time you kill one or run from one, that one will not appear again (ie, only 99 Zubats left), then your probability of finding the shiny increases to 1/99. However, this isn't the case... so mathematically, you essentially have a no-way-in-hell chance of finding one.

But theoretically, you have to hatch 8192 eggs to even remotely have a chance of getting a shiny.
 
The only shiny's I've ever gotten was a shiny Zubat in Silver, my brother's shiny Machop he traded me when he was starting over LeafGreen, and most recently my shiny Charmander which took about 3 days of breeding Charmanders, and I've been playing since the day Pokemon Red came out.

Oh, and it seems I didn't post it here, so I might as well. At the beginning of the month, I bought a shiny Abra at the Game Corner. It took 2473 Abras bought there to get a shiny one. He's Gentle, and now EV trained at L44. I haven't gotten the chance to evolve him to Zam yet.
 
Theres a hacked game called pokemon dragonstone of ruby, when you start a new game on the vba you can find a shiny ponyta on route 2 or 1 ( the first route you come to )

I just downloaded that and played some today. There are a lot of errors in it, and the uber starter is lame...
 
Pooey.. I just ran into Shiny Catepie I caught it but I don't like it.. Should I stil keep it in my team? I also heard you can use a gameshark for all the shiny pokemon throughout the regon to be shiny!@_@

Butterfree can status pretty well with its trait, but there's not much else it can do. I say evolve your Caterpie and throw it in the PC.

Yeah you can do this if you want please. I want a Shiny Flygon. It's cool. But how do you want to send the Trapinch?
 
I have seen a shiny in every version except Leaf Green and Fire Red it makes me mad >.< but I am SRing for a shiny Mewtwo
 
I'm still looking for my first shiny in my Diamond.

I have been playing since was like 10!!! I have dreamed of a shiny Poke but no such luck. never seen one.... :(

Well, you've only been playing for 4 years. What do you expect?

I've never seen shiny pokémon either. I'm starting to question their existence.
