i think he should. we know pika is the mascot, but at this point i think we've had enough. i'd really like to see a real bond between ash and the future starters he's gonna get. any thoughts?

What a ridiculous suggestion. The whole point of keeping him is showcasing their whole "partnership" and the bond that Ash has with his first Pokemon. To even suggest that Ash should send Pikachu to Oak, while practical from a training perspective, just does not fit with how Ash's character is portrayed.

but shouldn't new generations showcase the future starters and the region as a whole? pikachu should be oaked imo, at least for one region. if he can oak zard, he can oak pikachu.

they did the same with jessie's wobb, they got rid of it for unova. i know pikachu is the mascot, but come on. let other pokemon shine.

Hopeless Masquerade got this spot-on, on why Pikachu has never left Ash's team. It's his first Pokemon and his most precious partner and to see it leave Ash is just not how his character works.

You can't really justify Pikachu leaving Ash's team like this. If they weren't interested in showcasing more Pokemon they would have either ended the anime with Kanto or just kept Ash's team the same since then. There's a reason he starts fresh every region (except for Pikachu), and it isn't so they can justify him losing again.

I just want to say WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU Pikachu isn't just Ash's Pokémon but Pikachu is apart of his personality if your gonna get rid of Pikachu might as Well replace Ash, Pikachu helps shape Ash. Ash could've turned completely different if he Oaked Pikachu, the Point is if you get Rid of PIKACHU nobody would watch the Pokémon Anime (Unless maybe they Replace Ash which some people would want), and also Ash has had Pikachu since the Start he would never get rid of Pikachu if he wanted to get rid of Pikachu he would've just handed him over to team rocket (I just had an Idea you'll see it on my Pokémon episode Polls 2 :)). So no Pikachu no Ash.

The title of this thread is hilarious! Nah man, I thought the same thing for a while but then I put myself in Ash's shoes. If it was me as the trainer, I could never do such a thing. Pikachu was my first friend in Pokemon and would mean more to me than any of the other Pokemon. Pikachu is symbolic to the day I became a trainer and we've gone through so much together that if I gave him to oak then things would never be the same.

Also, the show would get so much crap if Ash did this. :p

Honestly, if they're going to keep Pikachu, they should certainly stop with the whole "level resets" they constantly do to him. I'd rather have a Pokémon who is an actual demonstrated powerhouse for continuity's sake than have him be depowered to such an extent that he loses pathetically to starting trainers/rookie Pokémon/retired trainers.

I agree, it would always piss me off the first few episodes when Pikachu would lose to like a caterpie-leveled Pokemon. Like how do you go to losing to Cateprie to almost beating latios in the Pokemon League?

This thread it totally wrong, it should be more like "Should the writers oak Pikachu", which we all know they wont because of Pikachu's relationship with Ash and the fact that it's the mascot of the entire franchise. The writers already handle the showcasing of new pokemon from the new generation if you haven't noticed. Ash always ends up with 2 or 3 of the starters native the the new region, same with the most common Flying-Type of that region. The real thing that should be brought up is why do they keep level resetting Pikachu.

Pikachu will most likely never be removed and I don't mind that. A lot of other people brought up a similar question when "Ash-Greninja" was announced. They thought "If Pikachu wasn't mascot or a veteran of the team, Greninja would be replacing him as the new 'Main' Pokemon"

Not going to happen, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.
