Suggestion: Show off your Emblems

I was thinking, can you make it so that your emblems can appear below your usertitle?

As you can see, the GT8, PC Veteran and Commited Emblems are displayed. If there are too many maybe a "see more" would do the trick?

Note: I am not claiming any of the emblems shown in the image. Except the GT8 Mint Emblem thing,

This is unnecessary negativity tbh. :( If you read the post thoroughly you would have seen that he said with more emblems there would only show a few with a "See More" option.

I could see this as just one emblem displayed, with an option for the user to pick one to show off. But where would you suggest it go in Legacy, where everything is on the left side of the posts? Below the usertitle doesn't really work, as that's where the avatar is and it would look rather strange.

Another option for showing off is to have the option when you go into your avatar settings to have your emblems as avatar default, to remove clutter with multiple images squished in there. Although you could do that yourself, but still. :3

Yeah, I think that's what he was getting at. Anyhow, I support this idea 100%, since it's probably the closest thing we'll have to a badge system like Smogon does, unless this suggestion goes through and displaying emblems adds a bit of uniqueness to each member's postbit.

Some people with only these types of emblems would be frowned upon, and I don't really want to see members in that sort of state.

Those emblems can just removed if you ask though can't they?

I'm all for this idea, it sounds great. I've never really seen the fun of emblems, since most people never take notice anyway, but this would be a cool idea if you ask me.

I am sure emblems aren't given to members who break rules so having the "Nonono" emblem or "I aksed to be a Mod" emblems isn't a bad thing. Emblems are for fun and I don't think staff would reward a member with an emblem if they've done something wrong so really, it just solidifies the fact that they're for fun. I honeslty think good on them, they've earnt it and it's nothing to be ashamed of in my opinion.

The postbits would become really ugly (unless it was optional to turn off other member's postbit emblems since really, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't enjoy seeing avatars and then a random emblem in the postbit considering they're 80 x 80 anyway and would stand out easily - and even if resized it wouldn't look thaaat nice) :x

Other than aesthetics, there's the fact that emblems aren't even meant to matter much in the first place, and as a result only appear on a profile tab, do we really need them displaying in every post when it's not that hard to find the profile tab? :(

But hey that's just how I see it, if it goes ahead then really a disable option would be good.

I don't see the harm in this idea; its actually quite nice; there could be a option to toggle whether to hide or show the emblems whenever you'd like to. Also, maybe an option to only pick a few select emblems to show off?

I'd also think that maybe the sizes can be different; like...80x80 is a little big. Maybe 40x40? Or 20x20?

What about like a badge like the moderator / supporter "tier" badges but with the number of emblems that person has. It could even be like the really small badge that people with two titles have. That wouldn't be as intrusive, it shows off like the collective side of emblems.

However, I realise as people gain emblems they would need to be updated, but perhaps not that difficult?

It wouldn't work in legacy post bits to be honest. But we also have the emblem tab for this, on profiles. I don't really feel that we need more, but a good idea I guess, but I don't think it would work too well.

Furthermore, I don't think emblems need such emphasis anyway. Maybe this would work well for certain emblems such as competitions the member has won.

If you really wanted to show off your emblems, you'd set it as your avatar (or put them in your signature). There's no use in increasing load-times and adding more clutter to the pages. Really.

That would place value on the number of emblems, causing most people to probably ask for more emblems so they could get a higher number to show off to others, as it is now it isn't that bad cause people don't care that much about the numbers. And to actually update a number in every badge assuming it's a graphic each time there's a new emblem, yeaaah considering how often emblems are given, it would be too complicated to do/keep track of. :x

In my opinion in theory it's fantastic but when e try and evaluate and think about putting it into practice, it reveals quite an amount of flaws; which can be worked on I guess.. I like the odea but then I contradict myslef and think well emblems were just a side thing like Nica mentioned, if we do this it sorta makes things 'official' which I don't really like tbh; it'd take the fun, silliness out of the emblems.

I see this more as unnecessary than anything else to be honest. It would just make the post bit of users look a bit too cluttered and unprofessional in my opinion. I prefer the slot it has on our profiles a lot better than bringing it out to making it seem like a huge part of the forum ─ which it isn't. Not to mention, resizing some of the emblems would leave some of them looking very distorted or low in quality, which again, would just make one's post bit looking cluttered and unprofessional.

I also agree with Nica when she said that emblems aren't meant to have much importance on the forum. It's just a nice way of rewarding users for partaking in events on the forum and giving them some sort of recognition for the fun of it.

Looking at it from a technical point of view, it would certainly increase loading times and look cluttered in Legacy, so yeah, it would be a problem :\ Otherwise, I wouldn't mind finding a balance, because the idea sounds nice after all- maybe adding a link to their emblem list on the dropbox you get when you click on someone's username or something like that.

Yes, but there can be an option whether or not you would want to show your emblem. So if you really don't like having your emblems showed off you can just set it to "Off" or something...

That's beside the point. It wouldn't solve any of the aforementioned problems, only diminish their number (though, not by much).

This idea sounds kinda nifty. But I would feel bad for the people that don't have emblems and be left out. =/

But there's already an Emblem Showcase on your profile, and if people care so much they can just view others emblems there. And like people said above, it might make loading even longer, and I don't want that. D:
