Ahahahaha. Yeah, most of the latest entries are great. I'm still having trouble picking which one to vote for :P

Anyway, since I'm too lazy to think of anything creative, this week's theme is Pokémon.
 
Well I will have to enter for the first time in SOTW so look out for my entrant! =P
 
Sometimes I tend to forget that this is a pokemon forum D:

Lots of entries in Swords/Blades.. I expect more entries in this week's contest =)

Well I am yet to make a Pokemon banner so this will be interesting..
Or ugly, I'm not sure really..
 
YOOM-TAH, the rules are you cannot use a previously made banner meaning you have to make it for the SOTW... Unless the rules have been changed, that's how I remember..
 
And there's also the fact that your banner says neither Pokemon nor SOTW. May want to change that before submissions end.

Wow, Pokemon this week? I'm really surprised. I sometimes, like Twinx, forget that this is even a pokemon forum. XD;

And woahtf at the amount of entries in the Swords and Blades. :oo
 
Lol there was a lot of entrants...
So remind me, is the rule that you need to have either SOTW / Pokemon or Your Username in the banner?
 
Dumb in MY opinion. Maybe I'm more used to graphics forums. It's just most of the time if you have to put the theme or "sotw" on there, it ends up lowering the quality of the tag in some way. For example, I know the one I entered wasn't allowed anyway, but say it was. No matter what I do to add "Pokemon" or "Sotw" on there, it's going to look worse than it does.

Anyway, like I said, not a big deal, I'll just change it once I think of which pokemon I wanna use. Leaning toward Lucario at the moment, but he might be used a lot.
 
Are we allowed to put the Pokemon's name instead of "Pokemon" on the banner?
It will be easier to fit in and is kinda the same thing..

It's not necessarily dumb though, in sub-GFX forums like these, we usually have a harder time weeding out stolen tags than in actual forums, so it's easier to designate that the tag was yours to begin with if we require something consistent on all of them... Is my best guess as to why we even have to have something on it in the first place. :| Eh, can't contradict your opinion though, since I agree, in a half-hearted kind of way.

Oh well. Just do what I do and get rid of the text outside of the entry. xD Nobody really cares about 'SotW" or having the theme name in the banner when it comes to the competition anyway.

And I've learned that following the theme seems to matter more than the graphic itself. :/ Which is irking, but so says the masses, so says the artist.

You're probably right about the ripping thing.

But I wouldn't go so far as to say that people don't care about the text on there because look at the current one being voted on. There were people who didn't vote for Phanima's because of the text, which was clearly only there because it had to be.

As for the last statement, I suppose that's true, but to me that makes sense, to an extent. I would say it ultimately comes down to what sig looks the best, but if one sig is graphically better than another, but really doesn't do much to fit the theme at all, and the other does way more, and it's close enough graphically, I'd say it should take the cake. Case in point, again, this week. I think Capitano's is the best graphically but it pretty much almost says nothing to me about blades. The way the render's cropped you can barely even tell that it's even a blade in there. Phanima's on the other hand is not far off in terms of graphicality, but it fits the theme WAY better. The focal point is the blade itself (and the effects around it, which are awesome IMO).

(BTW not arguing with you, just discussing. :) )

True. Just look at my insanity entry. It's a hell 0 when it comes to actual graphics and design, yet it fit the theme perfectly. (Short by a vote D8< !?!?!) *shot* So yeah, I would agree Lowkey.

I'm also surprised with the theme. I would of sworn Macy would select profitz. :P Maybe I can jump in with another paint banner. *shot again*
