1: The Lost Sea Symphony 1: Grimoires and Dragons
"New training partner, new me
Everything is about to change, I
Will become better, stronger,
More powerful.
Onwards to getting stronger
No one will stand in my way
This is my time
How could they keep me waiting for six months?
Now I'm all weak
Each and every day
Without training, I'll get
Even weaker, Your Majesty!
Ripe for the picking
Amongst the bottom of the barrel!
I doubt you want that, do you, Your Majesty?
Hahahaha, need to get stronger
And more powerful, there's
Various obstacles in my path, don't you see?
Every day I
Am doing your diplomatic affairs is
Not doing anything! And you don't want that, now do you? In the
End, you only
Want me to become
The most powerful soldier,
Right? And that's
All I'm good for,
Isn't that how it is?
Now I see!
I understand completely!
Nothing like being a pawn! I'm a
Good little soldier aren't I?
Perhaps I would be if
All those
Ridiculous and garbage
Tasks of monotonous
Nothing disappeared!
Everything would be on the
Right track, don't you see?
Nobody benefits if
One single soldier is
Weak! All of this
Is a waste of time!
Why prevent the
Inevitable, Your Majesty?
Look, I know you took me away from my home for my brain!
Listen, I know that's what you wanted me for: my shark
Brain, I know that already!
Especially lately! It
Couldn't be anymore
Obviously that's why Her
Majesty whisked me so far away!
Everything made sense awhile ago!
Because what could she have
Even wanted me for besides
That? Nothing, of course,
That's for sure!
Egregious. Absolutely, positively
Ridiculous, all of it.
So, am I of use
To you now that I have a Vision? I got it
Recently, you know!
Oh, only six months ago, and
Now, you're
Giving me a new training partner?
Easily your worst decision
Regarding this long wait?
Fight, fight, I shall fight them
All, and become
Stronger! So, bring on
The training session,
Right here, right now!
I'm just a pawn, after all, aren't I?
Well, I would be
If you hadn't
Let this time slip by!
Listen, skill can become rusty!
Can't you see that? I've become
Rusty! And you Your Majesty,
Ultimately, you're to blame!
She should
Have found someone
Eras ago! I am
Very much a sitting duck!
Everyone is more useful than me you should be more
Rigid with all of
Your useless
Orders for me!
Now I'm finally getting action!
Everything comes together!
Wait, what am I even saying?
Ah, I felt a spark just now
I shouldn't let
Those violent thoughts eat me.
No, I need to suppress them, this isn't like me.
One, two, three,
Take a deep breath
Heave, ho, heave ho.
And, I believe with
That, I am back.
I don't know what's gotten into me,
Sometimes, I feel a
Wild spark and I'm just gone, I
Remember what happened
Obviously, but I
Never like it when I
Get all sparky.
Why did the doctor do this to me?
He's to blame, don't
You see? I need to
Depart from the Fatui someday.
I know I probably should, but I
Don't know when would be best
I leave.
Sooner rather than later?
All and all, I have
Yet to come
To such decision,
However I know
At some point in
Time, I will leave.
Just need to plan perfectly,
Ultimately, I know betrayal leads to death
So, I cannot act hastily.
The key to being successful is
Not getting caught,
Or exuding stealth
Well, I am clearly
Not ready. I am not strong
Enough, I am
Very much too weak to
Even dream of ever leaving, it is
Rather too soon
Maybe I should pause this thought
I know it's definitely
Not the time, so back to work
Diligence is key to successful living."
Three days have passed since the hyena had met his new training partner Naofa. Nothing of especial happenstance had occurred. Diplomatic affairs of nothing overtaking the seventy-two hours, nothing had been out of the ordinary within the frozen northern land.
But, the unordinary would soon return with a vengeance.
The sound of morning alarm bells yodeled on the mountains like a goat screaming out to absolutely no one. As the alarm bells continued their rampage for minutes on end, hundreds of Fatui soldiers groaned in a cacophonous chorus. The alarm bells were right on time, as usual. But, despite such protest about, every soldier remained loyal.
The groans in an echo were more than enough to awaken Siorc from his especially deep slumber. Never being made aware of any sort of alarm bells, the chimera let out a groan. Was it just his imagination, or had everyone been extra loud today? Knowing there was no time to waste, the chimera rose from the uncomfortable bed. The time had come to begin the morning routine of dressing the body.
But, as the hyena had removed himself from the rocky covers, an ear piercing sound overtook the entire military barracks. Flinching, the soldier dashed off towards the barricaded window. Multiple Fatui recruits doing target practice in the snow, the early adult could feel a vein pop within him. Couldn't these soldiers put silencers over their guns? But, he knew there was no fat chance of such a thing ever happening.
Attempting to tune the noise out to the best of his ability, the early adult put on his layered shirts. As he put on his winter jacket, he could not help but wonder. Was he finally going to get stronger? Spark popping off in his brain, a twisted smile appeared upon his face. He needed to get stronger, faster, powerful enough to crush his enemies.
The hyena snapped himself out of it. What in the world was he thinking? Crush his enemies? Why would he do such a thing? That would not be happening, not a chance. He needed to throw out these violent thoughts brewing inside him and throw them to the bottom of the ocean forevermore.
Taking a long deep breath, the chimera clicked the weaponized hairpins and earrings into place. Adorning matching black hearts in his hair and ears, the chimera stared off into space. Was this truly what he wanted? Turning his prized possessions into weapons? Rational brain on, at the moment, regret flowed through the hyena. This was not what he truly wanted. He should not have ever acted on such a violent impulse.
Dendro Vision hooked upon his uniform pants, the early stared down at the yellow-green orb. Just how much stronger was he at the moment? He was most certainly a work in progress before he was a soldier worthy of being put on the battlefield. He knew he was a long way off before he was picture perfect.
Heelless shoes on, and rations devoured, the early adult stared off into space. What does he want, truly? He did not know. But, a thought soon placed down the chips upon the betting board. Perhaps, just maybe, he should start considering his departure from the Fatui.
But, the hyena threw such thought off a bride. What in the world was he doing, letting the lynx chimera get into his head? Don't let what it said solidify itself into place. Work mode switch flipping upward, every other thought within had been discarded. No more distractions. Fixing his buttons, and glasses adjusted, the hyena had finished the morning routing of dressing the body.
Hearing the louder than ever before sound of the Fatui Agent boots marching onward with a fervor, the hyena turned his attention towards the door. Time was up. The hourglasses' sand had reached the bottom. Volume of footsteps eventually reaching zero, the chimera put on the most diplomatic face possible. The time had come for his workday to begin.
"Diplomatic Soldier Siorc," the Agent called out on cue. "You will be heading to the Faded Castle underneath Petrichor and find the fallen kingdom of Remuria to finish the lost symphony." The masked Agent gave unseen eye contact with his subordinate in arms. "But, first you must find all the hidden and misplaced Grimoires." He soon continued with one last hurrah. "Before all that, soldier, you must head to Palais Mermonia and write a report about the events that transpired in the past six months." Another day, another separate affair.
The early adult flinched at the information provided to him. He has to do what now? Write a report about the past incidents that had occurred in the previous six months? What in the world was this nonsense? He had never had to something like this before. Why now? What use would this be to Her Majesty?
The chimera stared off into space. Writing a report, absolutely ludicrous nonsense. This wasn't a school. What was he, Her Majesty's top student in Fatui Academy? How ridiculous. He was a soldier, not a scholar. This was garbage, and a waste of time, for sure. There was no way she would even read it.
"Diplomatic Soldier Siorc!" the Agent called out again. "Did you hear me? You will be attempting to finish the symphony, and writing a report today!" There was an irritated tone in his voice. What could possibly be on the soldier's mind besides work? He could hardly fathom it. "We don't have time for this dawdling, get a move on!"
The soldier's heart skipped two beats. Right, he was on the nonexistent clock right now. There was no time for thinking. Her Majesty's words were absolute. Write a report? No problem. He could write ten of them, if she demanded. One after another.
"Yes, sir," the hyena responded autonomously. Arm out in front of him, the chimera awaited the gripping prison to take him away like it always had.
"Good, we're leaving, soldier," the Agent responded. Arm out in front of him, the masked Agent gripped the limb into a firm grasp. "Your report must be a minimum of five pages. And, you must use a typewriter to complete it." Escort towards Fontaine soon beginning, the early adult let out a barely audible sigh.
A typewriter? Why?
He had never used such a thing in his life.
***
"Well, this is just swell, practically overnight everyone
Has suddenly gotten extremely
Angry. You know, I'm gonna be honest,
This is really killing the vibe for me, you know?
I don't know where this anger is coming from,
So much for Petrichor being a peaceful seaside town.
Get this, so up in the sky is this large red
Overcast cloud.
It can't really be seen, but it's there
Now, if you ask me, it's about to
Get so much worse, and I can't be
Optimistic with all this
Negativity floating around.
Especially with all this fighting. I thought this place would be a
Very peaceful, and laid back
Experience, and things would be all good and dandy after building
Rab's lab towards the back of my new house, but
Yeah, no, it's all anger and rage.
Oh, for cryin' out loud.
Now people are just screaming,
Error, does not compute,
I am convinced that
Something has gone terribly wrong
Since that prophecy fiasco. People are shouting
Obscenities at each other now,
Agh, could ya'll keep it down?
Ngh, sometimes when I
Get annoyed, I
Really dial into pop's drawl.
Yikes, this is not the vibe,
Honestly, what's making all these people so
Enraged? If it's 'cause the sky is
Red, grow a pair.
Err, 'grow a pair', that is
So juvenile of me.
Oh, Archons, all of this racket is
Making it too hard to think.
End this nonsense,
This is making me want to go back to Fleuve Cendre,
However, I will not be doing that.
I am not a quitter,
Nor am I
Gonna let some little noise bother me.
Just let in the cool vibes
Unleash the
Super neat and uniform
Tool of: ignoring it.
Something I should have done from the start, I have some
Unpacking to do and stuff to go and
Dust, and I
Don't want to let these
Enraged people kill my vibe.
Nope, can't go and
Let them do that.
You know, I ain't about to go and
Have a cow. Whatever that
All means, Rab's told me that's a
Preposterous saying, and to
Please not say that,
Eh, alright, I won't say that.
No more of those kinda phrases. Gotta
Empty my mind of stuff like that
Don't add more fuel to the fire
Or anything. But, I
Very much feel like this is just getting
Eerier by the minute. The
Rage the people are experiencing, is not
Normal. Not at all
In any way shape or form. There's a
Giant foe, and it's
Hiding in that hidden red swirl cloud up above,
Though, I don't have
Any way to prove that, and I know it's
Not the truth, likely. So, I
Dunno, I don't think
That I'm on to something, or anything,
However, I'd like to think I am at least
Entering into the right conclusion,
Entering into the right conclusion?
No. I am far from reaching
The right conclusion.
I am far from
Reaching that point. There is no meets to the
End, just a lot of arguing. Worth
Noting, I am of the opinion that it'll
All just fade away after
That cloud exits.
If it goes away, that is,
Of course, I don't know
Nothin' bout how the weather works,
Or anything,
For all I know, the Archons are
Fighting each other again,
Or something. Well,
No one would know but
Them. I don't even know if the
Archons know one another,
I have heard that some
Nations do not even know who their Archon is in person.
Err, or so I've heard.
Well, Rab has told me that
In Natlan, their Archon is out and about with
Their citizens, and all that,
However, in places like Mondstadt their archon is like hiding,
Or something? I dunno.
Not like I've met anyone from Mondstadt. Seen some passerbys
Every now and again and all that, but
Eh. Why would I go and strike a conversation with them? I'm more
Xeno to them than they are to me. They'll see my wings when they're out and
Croak like a scared frog.
Either way, I don't care about all that.
Perhaps it's better I don't care about all
That. But, I dunno,
I guess my hypothesis is wrong.
Oh, the conclusions we'll leap.
Nah, that sounds like some dumb light novel,
In any case, I probs
Shouldn't try and make
Educated guesses on what might be going on here.
Nope I don't think that is a
Recommended strategy in all this
At all. I ought to just not make any
Guesses, as I know it's likely I have already made a ton of
Errors, one after another, so I
Don't want to dip my toes into the water.
I would rather not take that risk and
Dump out assumption after assumption after assumption,
Unless I do reach the conclusion that might be correct. For
Now, I shall leave it at that I don't know, and I that I do
Not know anything.
Over the course of
Time, mayhaps I will,
However, as established,
I clearly have work to do
So, you all know this goes at this point.
I will tune out all this
Stupid racket and move on
With my day, and
Everything will be a-okay.
I won't let them kill my vibe anymore.
Remove the noise and
Don't let it get me down. These
Viscous red cloud will go away
Eventually. These
Red clouds won't be around for long,
You know? They will pass. Good
Vibes, good vibes, all good vibes.
Everything is better with just a little chill, or
Rab will be caught up in the bad vibes, too.
Yes, good vibes is
Where it's at. And just like it goes in other situations.
Eyes on the prize, finish Rab's lab, and
It'll all be smooth sailing from here.
Right, eyes on the prize, don't let what's going on get me all
Down in the dumps. This vibe ain't it, but I'm tuning it all out, for now."
Upon reaching the desert edges through the teleport waypoint, the hyena stared off towards the harbor from afar. Had the Agent worked out the teleportation ban yet? It had already been half a year since he had gotten a majority of these missions. But, he had been dragged down the mountain before he could think any further.
Placed in the wooden vessel, the vehicle of human movement soon cruised forward. Hearing an unusual crack of thunder out of nowhere, the chimera flinched. Had there been a storm brewing in Fontaine? What was going on? But, as he tilted his head upward, there had not been a cloud in the sky.
As the boat kept moving forward, the soldier could not help but wonder. Why couldn't he teleport around Fontaine anyway? Had it been some sort of crime? He supposed it had to have been if he was not allowed to do so. He had heard Fontaine had quite some nonsensical and unusual rules. Had this been one of them?
Reaching Romaritime Harbor before he knew it, the chimera's thoughts had been cut in half with a scissor almost immediately. Dragged towards the stairwell, the Agent informed him something will be done about the teleportation ban. Hearing such, the chimera crossed his arms firmly across his chest. Why even bother at this point?
Satchel slammed on his backside, more information had come his way. Told he will need to boat to Petrichor as it had been quite far off from the rest of the nation, the hyena blinked. Had this been why he had not received orders to head to this area until now? He supposed that could have been possible.
Agent soon departing from the area, the chimera let out a sigh. He had his work cut out for him, didn't he? A castle underwater, a symphony and a report? What was he, in some rules of three world? But, he shook his head. Maybe not. That wasn't it. He supposed it didn't quite matter. Work was work.
Throwing all his thoughts away, the chimera ascended the staircase. But, as he did such, he could hear yet another crackle of lightning. Ignoring it, the hyena took the glass lift. Why was he paying attention to such noise? He hardly had any time to worry about that. But, further noise engulfed the area almost immediately.
Line stretching from side to side in the waiting area the early adult placed himself at the end of it. It had been quite busy here today, hadn't it? Fontaine had gone back to normal. That had to have been a good thing, right? But, he supposed it was entirely possible there had been bad omens all around, lying in wait.
Aquabus arriving shortly, everyone barreled on one after another. Melusine tour guide begging the crowd to slow down, the soldier slapped his palm across his face. Fontaine was back to normal, alright. Back to normal indeed. Waiting for the chaos to dissipate, the hyena sat upon the opposite end of the crowd.
As the vehicle of automatic movement left the station, the early adult stared off into space. Why in the world did he have to write a report anyway? What was going through Her Majesty's mind? But he threw such thought off a bridge. What would he know? He could never possibly fathom anything she was ever thinking.
Vessel cruising past Poisson Tunnel, the questions kept on rolling. Why did he have to use a typewriter, of all things? He hardly knew how to use such a thing. Why now, of all times did he have to write a report? It didn't make any sense. Wasn't Her Majesty always watching him? She would know what's going on with him at any given time.
People chattering about a big storm brewing, the early adult gazed upwards towards the sky. Was there really a storm coming? Nothing looked out of the ordinary, as far as he was concerned. But, he supposed the locals knew better than he would. He was not a Fontaine native. And, never would be.
Reaching the Capital City of Fontaine before he even knew it, everything ran off the Aquabus like someone had been chasing them. Aeval begging everyone to calm down, absolutely not a single person listened. Shaking his head, the hyena glared at the crowd from afar. These people were a bunch of fools.
Knowing he had to head to Palais Mermonia, the early adult prepared himself to head upon the northern pathway. But, another crackle of thunder soon overtook the area at full power. Hearing such, the hyena jumped four steps back. What was with this sudden weather? It was bright and sunny out. Had the Electro Archon been visiting, or something?
But, another storm had been brewing upon the streets of Fontaine. Multiple citizens looking quite angry, the hyena blinked. What was with this heavily sour atmosphere? Had something happened here? But, the soldier shook his head. Maybe their expensive shoes had been stepped on, or something.
Moving right along, multiple generic nobodies crossed their arms and let out an irritated noise. Hearing such, the early adult stared at the rich people. What was with all the indignance in the air? Had something gone wrong at some elite club? He supposed that could have been possible, but that was hardly his business.
Shouting matches occurring everywhere upon the streets, the hyena attempted to plug his ears? Could these people be quiet? If they were having disagreements with one another, keep it indoors in their own home where no one else could hear it. Why let everyone hear this? It was taking the atmosphere down, and killing it.
Arguments only getting more intense, the early adult gazed upwards towards the sky. Was there some kind of noxious poison in the air making everyone lose their marbles? Surely, by now such noxious problem had been resolved. It had to have been. Air can heal, can't it?
Shaking his head, the early adult attempted with all his might to tune everything out around him. He couldn't hear it. His hearing had become selective. They were trees falling in a forest for not a single human to hear them. But, the chimera threw such thoughts under the Aquabus. Now was not the time for these such jokes.
Fights only getting louder as the seconds paraded onward, the early adult whimpered. Someone, stop this madness right here, right now. Why was everyone so loud and obnoxious today? Had someone in one of the rich elite groups ruined something for everyone? That had to be it. It couldn't have been anything else.
Rage dying down a smidgeon, the hyena puffed a sigh of relief. Was everyone finally done? He sure hoped so, or the Nation of Justice would soon have to change its name to the Nation of Agitation. Surely, that would have been a terrible look for the country. Focalors needed to do something right here, right now.
Arguments kicking themselves right back up, the hyena flinched. It sure would be nice to be allowed to teleport right now. The city was loud, painful, a rampant mess of doom and gloom in a pocket. Western pathway looking further away with every step, the world blurred.
Continuing to move upon the northern path, the soldier could not help but wonder. Just what in the world was going on around Fontaine? Was there even more problems about to be afoot? If there was going to be, why couldn't the Archon do something about it already? This was getting out of hand. People were going to harm others, guaranteed.
Gazing at the citizens as he moved along, the early adult kept on thinking. Something terrible had to have happened for such a high level of rage to be rampant in the city. But, what could it be that could have occurred? A bad court case? An extremely important person found guilty on all charges?
But, the early adult could hardly fathom an answer to such. Humans will be humans. They'll get angry at anything. He could not begin to understand them. Although, there had been something he had heard in the past. The element of Hydro had been strongly tied to emotions. Could that have been true?
The hyena threw such thoughts out the window. That couldn't have possibly been true. Why would it have been? That was just an assumption thinly strung together by multiple rumors buzzing around like a virus. There couldn't have possibly been any sort of connection, not a chance.
Hearing another loud crack of thunder, the soldier could feel a dark energy in the air. What was with this sudden overwhelming sense of doom he was feeling? Something wasn't right here at all. But, the chimera snapped himself out of it. What was he doing, giving into the storm?
Forcing himself to focus, the early adult dialed down his thoughts. Angry humans were angry humans. There was nothing he could do about them. He was not a mediator. They could solve their own problems. Moving onwards towards the westward path, the cacophony only got worse.
But, everything had begun to double in problems as he cruised through the area. Hostilities reaching a critical boiling point, the soldier hopped into the grass hedges off towards the side. These people were relentless balls of rage. Couldn't they just settle their differences in court like it's always done?
Generic nobodies attacking one another beside the Adventurer's Guild demanding commissions the early adult rolled his eyes. Even the Adventurers were causing problems? What absolute nonsense. These people should have known better. The society should revoke their licenses right here, right now.
Mechanical receptionist trying to quell the situation, shots had been fired. Covering his ears, the chimera's legs erupted into a sprint. Things were getting too violent too fast. What was going on here? Why resort to such tactics? Everyone needed to calm down. Bloodshed and carnage was not the answer, no matter what.
Running past Chioriya Boutique, the soldier swore he could hear the owner scream no good behavior, no service. Hearing such, the soldier couldn't help but agree. Finally, someone had been making sense. Pushing right along, the chimera kept on running towards the southern path.
But, an annoying obstacle had soon been in the hyena's way. Earl walking around the path in pure glee, the soldier turned towards the opposite direction. New mission, same old garbage. Why was it, no matter how often he was in Fontaine, he had to run into this annoying fly?
Seeing Siorc walk through the chaos of the city, Earl could feel himself get all floaty. He was so brave for being able to navigate through all this discord. He was the perfect future husband for him. He could hear the wedding bells already. There was not a single bad egg in the basket to speak of.
"Hi, Siorc!" Earl greeted. "Don't mind the citizens! There's just malice in the air!"
Pest of a penguin mentioning malice, the early adult let out a loud audible groan. Great, there had been something in the air after all? Absolutely fantastic, even more problems for him to deal with. This was not his battlefield. If he had a shield, he would turn it inward, and go back in time to before the rage could be induced. But, a grating voice had once again brought him back to reality.
"But, don't worry!" Early exclaimed. "We'll do all we can to solve it!"
Shrugging, the hyena moved onward. If he wanted to deal with the angry citizens, that was on him. It was his funeral. Moving right along, the soldier took a long deep breath. It was time to head towards Palais Mermonia. Jumping back into the hedges, the chimera had been in stealth mode.
Descending the staircase, the hyena swore he could hear a series of shouts engulf the area. But, the chimera attempted to drown them all out. Why couldn't the citizens be quiet already? He gets it, they're angry. Couldn't they stop already? But the rage dialed itself up to eleven and then some.
Multiple citizens throwing bottles of wine, the chimera let out a scream. No, not this, anything but this. Couldn't they resort to something else? This was not the way to go, for sure. This had to stop. Enough was enough, but the nobodies kept going over and over again without a stopping point in sight.
Rose win bottle thrown across the street, a bitter memory of horror flashed through his mind. Her Majesty appearing within his closed mind, the soldier let out a scream. But, he snapped himself out of it. Now was hardly the time to get tormented by the past. Such event had occurred years ago. He needed to get out of here.
Running as fast as he could, the wine bottle throwing games were out of sight, out of mind. Whoever was in charge of cleaning up the city, they would most certainly have their work cut out for them. He needed to remain strong, and not let the chaos eat him up and spit him out.
Speeding up his running speed, the soldier let out a scream. Everything was breaking apart at the seams. Pushing on to the best of his ability, the hyena ran up the stairs towards the Aquabus Information Station. Goodbye, first floor, he was out of here. Running towards the glass lift, the doors soon opened.
As the glass lift ascended upward, the soldier let out a huff. What could the malice be in the air that was causing everyone to become such enraged? Whatever it was, it needed to be found right away. This was too much, and if it were to continue, this would be an obstacle to deal with forevermore.
Reaching the fourth floor, the hyena attempted to make a run for it. Multiple Melusines trying to deescalate all the tensions going around, the soldier leaped towards Palais Mermonia Opening the doors to the most important building in all of Fontaine, the chimera's heart thumped like a jackhammer.
Palais Mermonia completely devoid of people, a heavy wave of confusion flowed through the hyena. Where was everyone? But, he supposed the Iudex had banished everyone from the offices until they got their emotions sorted out. Such was a good move, if such were the case.
Knowing he would need permission from the Iudex to borrow the typewriters in the office rooms, the soldier knocked upon the closed doors. Important man's voice exclaiming come in, the soldier gulped. Could the Chief Justice of Fontaine have been engulfed by the malice, too?
Mountains upon mountains of paperwork seated upon the Iudex's desk, the hyena stared at the most important justice in all of Fontaine. No wonder this man's hair had gone gone white. But, the chimera threw such thoughts away. What a ridiculous assumption, on his part. Eyes soon on him, a question had come his way.
"Greeting, Monsieur Siorc," the Iudex greeted. "Is there something that you require?"
Question coming his way, the soldier nodded. Placing his hands out in front of him, the early adult's finger's fluttered on the air as if an invisible machine had been in front of him. Sweating, the chimera could feel laser eyes on him. Did it look like he was playing charades? Maybe he should kick it down a notch.
"You may use a typewriter in the office," the Iudex responded. "No need to ask for my permission, monsieur Siorc."
Iudex telling him permission was not needed, the chimera blinked. Did he really not have to ask permission to use it? He didn't know why, but that felt too good to be true. Leaving the Iudex's office, the early adult headed off towards the western wing of the Palais Mermonia.
Empty offices in front of him, the soldier stared at the foreign object in front of him. What was this contraption in front of him? Large device with keys with letters on them, the early adult could feel a wave of cultural shock flow through him. Toto, looks like he wasn't in Mondstat anymore. But, the chimera shook his head. What was he even thinking?
Seating himself by the foreign object, the soldier gulped. This thing, how was he suppose to use it? He had never seen this contraption before in his entire life. Why couldn't he just handwrite his notes, like always? Surely, it didn't matter how he went about doing the work.
Staring at the new enemy in front of him, he blinked. How does one use a typewriter? This device was for the rich and privileged to take a shortcut. He was neither of these things. Was he invading the money maker's territory right now? He had to have been. He had to tread carefully, for sure.
Cracking his knuckles, the hyena stared down at the typing device. Surely, it had to have been as simple as pressing a button or two, or three, or twenty six. Placing paper into the feeder, the soldier took a long, deep breath. He can do this. He can type up this report.
Click clacking away upon the typewriter, the soldier had begun writing the report. Typing this and that, the soldier broke out into a sweat. Five pages minimum, he needed to at least reach halfway to double digits minimum. How many words was that? He did not know. But, he knew if he were even one single word too short, he was as good as dead.
Continuing to type up the first page, the soldier stared as the sheet of Dendro creation kept getting longer and longer. Seeing such, a wave of fascination flowed through him. Was this his work in motion? What an interesting thing to see. But, he snapped himself out of it. He needed to focus. No time to get distracted.
Taking a deep breath, the early adult kept typing up a storm. First page spitting itself out of the typewriter, the soldier flinched. Was this what happened when one page was done? How terrifying. He would need to remove it with his own two hands. Sheet in front of him, the chimera looked it over.
"Over the course of six months, various incidents had occurred around the Nation of Fontaine that is governed by the Archon, Focalors. At the start of my mission, it had been brought to my attention there had been some monsters that had been in their incorrect habitat. Something of which was not a reason for concern, at first.
However, that was the beginning of the root of all the problems across Teyvat, and perhaps beyond. I had been found Breacher Primus in Liyue, which do not live outside of Elynas. Upon completing this mission I had an encounter with two mysterious hooded individuals that I thought nothing of, at first.
But, as it turns out, they are very dangerous people whom aligned themselves with the abyss, and my encounters with those then strangers would continue to only grow and grow. There were times I wondered what they might be after, and for the first couple of months, their activities were hardly enough to scratch my head at.
For awhile, their identities had remained largely unknown. I continued my missions across Fontaine both above land and underwater. But, these enemies had remained vigilant, and wherever I went, they'd appear. Usually, their interference would be more dangerous than the last.
It wasn't until I had been tasked with a mission in the Elton Trench that I had seen what these two were truly capable of. This duo are highly dangerous, and have the ability to bend reality to their will. I suspect that at the snap of their fingers, they could take out entire nations.
At some point during my mission in Annapausis, I had learned the identity of the opposing force constantly getting in my way. They were known as Kelebek and Izzet. A group of two dangerous fawns that aligned themselves with the abyss order. And, our paths would cross multiple times across multiple nations.
I suspected for quite some time all the peculiar happenings around Fontaine were caused entirely by this group, and this group alone. And, for the most part, this was almost always indeed the case. Wherever trouble were to be, they would follow. My paths would cross with them rather frequently.
I thought after some time, they would stop acting. But, then their schemes had taken a turn for the petty. A couple of times, they would commit crimes in an attempt to frame me. This plan had been thwarted, and revenge had been exacted upon me. I thought nothing of this for awhile, assuming it to be empty words."
The soldier flipped the sheet over. Seeing the second page typed out on the backside, a culture shock zapped the soldier into a tizzy. This machine was able to print onto both sides of the paper? Absolutely fascinating. Technology was incredible. But, he couldn't help but wonder. Would this only count as one page? It probably did. He would need to write an extra two just in case.
Placing his fingers upon the keys once more, the soldier had begun to click clack away. Detailing his experiences with the abyssal gazelle's revenge and the various times he had been with the Magic Troupe, the soldier growled as he typed such. He was fuming reading this over. Continuing to type away, he was seeing red.
Second page soon reaching its completion multiple typos had graced the page. Seeing such, the soldier shook his head. No, this won't do. If his report had any grammar mistakes, he would get a bullet to the torso. He needed to rewrite this page, pronto. Retyping everything, his rage had been thrown out like a used paper plate.
Reading the page over once more, the chimera sighed. Was mentioning that the gazelles had the power to create monsters even worth mentioning? He did not especially think so, but he knew he couldn't leave out any details. Her Majesty expected perfection. He should not aim for less. That was not the answer.
Cracking his knuckles, the soldier prepared himself for the next page. Recording information about the atrocities Fontaine had started facing towards the second half of his journey, a sudden big blur appeared in his memory. Was he forgetting something important? He didn't know why, but he felt like there was something that had slipped his mind.
Fourth and fifth page dedicated entirely to the large list of crimes committed by the enemies, the early adult stared down at the words upon the paper. Was mentioning any of this at all even necessary? It didn't feel like it mattered much in the grand scheme of things.
Taking a break, for a brief moment, the hyena could not help but wonder. What was the point in writing all this anyway? Wasn't he wasting his time writing this thing? Her Majesty was always watching him. She knew everything. She saw all, heard all, knew all. Why did he have to do this? She knew everything, didn't she?
But, the chimera shook his head. Don't question it. His orders were absolute. He had no choice but to write this article. Disobedience equals death. He knew he had no choice but keep on writing. Two pages to go, he could do it. He still had the brain juices running.
Sixth, seventh and eighth pages detailing the rest of his Teyvat missions over the course of the half year, the soldier kept reading them over, for a moment. Was this getting a little too long? But, the hyena perished the thought. The backsides did not count as full pages, did they? He knew it was better to be better safe than sorry.
Continuing to click clacky away, the noises had begun to bounce upon the walls. Hearing such, the soldier blinked. Perhaps he had been typing too loud. Maybe he should tone it down a notch. Pressing on with all his might, the double sided paper plopped out of the device at full speed.
Two final pages done and dusted, the hyena puffed a sigh of relief. Seven pages were done and ready to be thrown into a pile with the rest of them, the soldier prepared himself to read the final two sheets written up upon the automatic writing instrument in front of him.
"When everything had been said and done, these two dangerous individuals tried their hands at attempting the unbelievable: trying to kickstart the prophecy in Fontaine. This lead to widespread nearly irreversible damage to the Nation of Justice. Had it not been for the effort of multiple parties involved, this country would have been underwater permanently.
The narwhal was defeated, and the gazelle's reign of terror had come to an end. Duo tried in court, they were found guilty on all charges, and imprisoned in the Mare Jivari for the rest of their lives. It is unknown at this time if they survived. It can be assumed they did not.
At this point in time, they are not a threat anymore. I do not think I will ever encounter them again. The Mare Jivari is a place of ashes. And, they are no longer an obstacle to get in my way. Henceforth, this is the end of the former Abyss Order leader's reign over Teyvat. They will never rule again."
The soldier banged the papers upon the desk. He had written seven pages. How many words was that? He did not know. But, he hoped such had been enough. Removing himself from the desk, the soldier soon exited Palais Mermonia. I was time to depart for Petrichor. Ginger Fatui waiting outside, her palm had been stuck out in front of him.
"Hand over your report," the ginger Fatui demanded. "Now, soldier."
Handing the papers over to the ginger Fatui, the early adult could feel sweat mounted upon his forehead. Had he written too much, or was seven pages too little? Maybe it hadn't been enough. We he about to be told to take this mission seriously? Perhaps, he was. He would get an earful any second now.
"Seven pages?" the ginger Fatui asked. "Excellent work, soldier."
Hearing such, the hyena puffed a sigh of relief. He had done a decent job? He did not know why, but he had not seen this outcome coming. Had it been some sort of mistake? He had to have been hearing things, for sure. But, the chimera snapped himself out of it as the voice called out to him again.
"You will be writing more reports while on this mission," the ginger Fatui said in a powerful tone. "So, get used to using the typewriter, soldier!"
Ginger Fatui soon leaving the hearing, the early adult let out a sigh. He was going to have to write more reports. Ho hum. What was he, officially enrolled in Fatui Academy now? Absolutely ridiculous. Accepting his fate, the soldier dashed back towards the glass box. It was time to get out of here and head to Marcotte Station.
Reaching Marcotte Station after about twenty minutes, something had been terribly amiss. Every single passerby embedded with deep seeded rage, the chimera backed ten steps away. No, not this again. Where had everyone's anger been coming from? He did not know; next to nothing was adding up.
Melusines the only group not seething with rage, the chimera could not help but wonder. Had the sea denizens been completely unaffected by whatever malice had been in the air? He supposed such had been the case. Perhaps, just maybe, this was something that only affected humans.
Continuing to run south for awhile, the soldier stared upwards towards the sky as another sound of thunder crackled. Why wasn't he affected by this malice? He did not feel a single drop of rage within him whatsoever. But, he supposed chimeras had always been an anomaly amongst nature.
Reaching the southern most edges of the Morte Region area, a bed of water that did not look diveable in any shape or form awaited the hyena. Boat waiting for him, the soldier had come to a realization. This had been were the elevation of Fontaine had ended.
Rowing forward, the soldier's thoughts had begun to wander. Why had it taken this long into his Fontaine missions to be assigned work in Petrichor? It was almost as if, in the world of Teyvat, outside forces had prevented such area from being explorable until quite recently. But, such fact had been unknown to the entire population.
But, as the hyena continued to move towards the isolated island across the sea, and intense wave of discord stronger than ever before overtook the soldier. What was this intense feeling of dread? Something wasn't right here. Something wasn't right here at all.
Hitting shore after about an hour of rowing, the early adult disembarked the vehicle. Stepping foot upon uncharted territory, the chimera could feel a wave of unease. Why was the wave of discord only getting stronger? Any second now, and the rage world would engulf him.
Reaching uncharted territory, the soldier observed the area around him. Finding himself in a small seaside village with a strange statue, the houses here had been like no other. Had this place really been a part of Fontaine? It most certainly did not feel like it. It must have been somewhere else entirely. It had to have been. Spotting a cave off in the corner, and a small beach, his observation soon ended.
However, something had not been right here, in the slightest. Anger wave even stronger than before, the soldier could hear everyone arguing back and forth with one another, the soldier's heart had begun to race. What is going on here? Where did this sudden rage come from? But, he knew he had to stop repeating that question. There was another job to be done.
Hearing incredibly loud construction up ahead as well, the early adult attempted to tune the racket out. Why was everything trying to distract him today? Begone, noise. If he had earmuffs, he would wear them right about now. Walking around the town, he had immediately stepped within range of two familiar faces.
Rabiu and Lonan building something in the back of their shared house, the soldier blinked. The researcher jackal had moved in already? That was fast. It hadn't even been a week. But, he supposed it was better to get something done quickly rather than putting it off to tomorrow. Work halting for a moment, eyes were on him.
"Surprised to see you here, Black Fish Steak Bro," Lonan greeted. "Don't mind the noise. We're building Rab's lab."
Greeting coming his way, the soldier placed his hands out in front of him, Inquiring about the heavy indignation around the city in silence, the chimera studied the hawk and jackal chimeras in front of him. They seemed completely unaffected by what was happening around them. Were they immune to this malice?
"Um uh, why are the citizens so angry, you ask?" Rabiu asked, lip quivering. "Um, we haven't, uh, um." His words stopped for a moment, but he attempted to get himself back on track. "We haven't found the cause for it yet other than some disturbance in the air."
"But, don't worry 'bout all that Black Fish Steak bro," Lonan said in a chill tone. "Someone's gonna take care of all that." He shook his head as he continued. "So, what brings you around these parts? Didn't expect you'd to this remote little area."
Inquiry coming his way, the early adult placed his hands out in front of him once more. Spelling out the word grimoire with his fingers, the chimera made a pew pew sound under his breath. But, the hyena covered his mouth upon doing such. Why was he doing that? He was making a fool of himself.
"Huh? Grimoires? Um, what?" Rabiu asked, puzzled. "Um, Siorc, apologies, give me a moment to process this." There had been a long pause between his last word and the next. "Oh, uh, um, are you talking about the symphony? Uh, those books, they should probably be around Petrichor." His lip continued to quiver. "Um, if not, uh, they might be in the Faded Castle. Um, I am far from an expert of Fontaine history. I am not native to here."
"The faded castle? Black fish steak bro, dunno now if you know this, but you should be careful before going down there," Lonan warned in a stern voice. "The drop down to that place is pretty deep, and if you fall, you'll end up hurting yourself."
Hearing such, the hyena froze in place. A far drop down? One wrong step and he was as dead as a doornail. He would need to be as careful as possible moving forward. Steeling himself, the soldier prepared himself for the book search party to begin. It was time to get up, get ready, and start hunting.
Turning his head towards the right and left, the chimera had noticed something in particular. Spotting various platforms behind multiple houses, the chimera couldn't help but wonder. Could there have been books hiding behind people's homes? He supposed it was worth a try.
Rage continuing to boil eggs the early adult proceeded with caution. If he were to be spotted right now, debate clubs would go flying, and then some. Sneaking around the back, the early adult looked high and low for any possible magical books hiding for no one to see.
Not finding anything in the small space behind the multiple houses, the early adult shook his head. Why would anything be hiding behind there? If there were tomes lying around, they would be out in the open, for sure. This wasn't it. He was off the mark here.
Shrugging, the chimera stared off at the pillar in the center of the area. Perhaps, just maybe, some of the grimoires had been hiding up there? Surely, that could have been possible. Multiple people screaming at him from every angle, the chimera tuned them all out.
Reaching the top after about two minutes, the hyena scouted the area in front of him. Could there have been something here? But, there had been nothing. No Grimoires, not a single one. Angry citizens shouting at him to get off the pillar, idiot, the soldier growled. Could these people quit it?
Searching everywhere within the city, not a single book had made their presence known within the isolated seaside town. Realizing such, the early adult could feel the hourglasses' sand drop down faster. He was running out of time, for sure. He had to narrow down his searches.
Waves crashing in the corner, the soldier dashed off towards the beaches. Perhaps, just maybe, they had been buried beneath the sand. That had to have been it, surely. Closing his eyes, for a moment, the chimera's currently human hands had been transformed into hyena paws.
Digging up a storm, a treasure chest had been uncovered beneath the sediment. But, nothing of note had been discovered within the trove. Purple crystals he had never seen before falling out, the soldier lowered his eyes into a squint. What were these things? Throwing them back in the trove, the chimera shrugged. Nothing to see here. Time to move on.
Not finding anymore troves of treasure, the soldier returned himself towards the townstead. He had wasted so much time looking around here, didn't he? There was absolutely nothing, no grimoires; none. But, he supposed it was no fault but his own for looking around here in the first place. He had chosen poorly, without a shadow of a doubt.
Cracking his knuckles, the early adult turned his head towards the cave. Perhaps, just maybe there could have been some secret grimoires awaiting him in the nearby cave. That had to have been the case, surely. But, perhaps it hadn't been. He would not know until he tried.
Running off towards the crevices in the corner, the soldier prepared himself for disappointment. There was no way there was anything here, was there? It was all about to be the same. He should not have dragged himself back here. He was wasting his time, guaranteed.
But, the soldier snapped himself out of it. What was he doing, trying to give up? He could not fail this mission, or Her Majesty would be disappointed in him. Such scenario should not occur, for any given reason. One more slipup, and he was a goner. His chances were being used up, one after another.
Searching everywhere he could, nothing stood out to the soldier. Nothing of note whatsoever, the early adult could feel his will begin to drain away. There was no books here. None, zero, zilch, nada, a bagel. But, the hyena soon searched the cave once more. Surely, there had to be something in there.
There had been absolutely nothing. Not grimoires, not a single one. Motivation dropping like a fly, the soldier waved the white flag upon the invisible battlefield. The surface world was a book bust. Did the people in this town read? Perhaps they did not. Stepping out of deep crevices, the chimera could not help but wonder. Could the magical tomes simply be hiding in plain sight?
Remembering the statue he had seen towards the town's entrance, the chimera walked towards it. Overwhelming wave of intense energy getting stronger as he approached it, the soldier gazed at the statute. What was wrong wit this memorial? Something wasn't right here, not one bit.
Blinding flashing light soon engulfing him, an unknown world had soon been presented to him. Seeing a large kingdom, the chimera's head had begun to pound. What is this? Had he been transported to a hidden space? Watching an entire kingdom fall apart, the hyena let out a scream.
Seeing dragons, and other unknown entities, the sharp throbs intensified. What in the world was he seeing? He could not make sense of any of this. Blinding light soon returning with a vengeance, the shouts returned in full. But, frantic footsteps soon came his way.
"Um, Siorc, is something wrong?" Rabiu asked, concerned tone of voice. "I heard you scream."
Brought back to reality, the chimera turned towards the researcher jackal. Had he disturbed him? He needed to apologize immediately, if so. Lips quivering, the early adult attempted with all his might to drop an apology out of his lips. Right, he had to apologize for disturbing the peace.
"I'm sorry, sir," the hyena apologize, voice shaking.
"Uh, um, no need to apologize, you're fine," Rabiu responded, shaking his head. "Um, have you not searched the faded castle yet? I'll guide you there, if you need."
Nodding, the researcher jackal soon lead the way. Guided towards a large hole near a small ruins area, the soldier scratched his head. Just how deep underwater was this castle exactly? Slipping on his diving equipment, the chimera closed his eyes, for a moment. Mind synching up with his diving soon, he dropped downward. Riding the current, the turbulence guided him.
Finding himself in the entranceway of a strange hallway that looked like a the corridors of a castle in a storybook, the chimera turned his head off towards the right and left. This was the faded castle hidden deep beneath Petrichor? He did not know why, but he felt like he had stepped deep into a fantasy world. Windows showing the ocean bed, the questions rolled the dice. Just how far down was he?
Spotting a myriad of flying books on the premises, the hyena could feel everything click together. There they were, the lost tomes. He needed to gather them right here, right now. Tomes moving away from him, the hyena removed his diving equipment. The hunt was on.
Tomes floating away at the speed of a Hilichurl, the chimera brushed his foot against the ground. These books thought they could pull a fast one on him, did they? Not happening. He was going to catch them. Dashing towards them, the soldier attempted a somersault.
But, the books had tricks up their cover sleeves. Floating away even faster, the soldier let out a scream. What was going on here? Why were they getting swifter? Did these grimoires have a mind of their own? But, the chimera quickly disregarded such thought. No way. This had to have been the work of someone else.
Grimoires floating off towards the ceiling, the hyena let groaned. Curses, they had fallen completely out of his reach. How could he hope to reach such a thing? Gazing towards the bookshelves, there was no crawl space up above to reach the top in any shape or form whatsoever.
Huffing a breath, the hyena kept running through the hallways. These tomes, he had to catch them. Why were these books avoiding him? How incredibly annoying. Whoever was controlling these books was a prankster, for sure. He needed to find the culprit as soon as he possibly could.
Books floating off towards multiple staircases, the hyena could feel his energy begin to die. Why had these tomes been so quick to flee? His will was bending, twisting, turning. Forcing himself to continue, hours upon hours kept passing. Tome failure laughing at him, the chimera dropped to his knees.
Getting back up, the hunt was on. But, as he ventured deeper into the faded castle of time forgotten, he could see a rather peculiar group of strangers walking by throughout the area. Seeing such, the soldier backed off towards the side. There were other people down here? He should have known. He wasn't alone. Had he made a disturbance? Strangers staring at him with heavy intensity, the hyena observed the two unknown faces.
Standing to the left had been a giant of a woman who had been at least three-quarters of a meter taller than him. This lady, she had to have been at least two hundred twenty eight centimeters tall. How was that even possible? Did she have some sort of growth spurt in her formidable years? Short, radioactive light green hair pulled into a vey low bun touching her chin, dragon scales touching her cheeks, panther ears, brown eyes, and dark skin, something peculiar stuck out the chimera. Large, bright green draconic wings peeking out of her bright green dress, and dragon claws for hands and feet, confusion looped on repeat. Was she a dragon or a chimera? Was it even possible for the two to mix?
Observing the person to the right, the chimera could hardly believe his eyes. Standing on the opposite side had been much shorter woman who had been slightly taller than him. Long green hair going down to about her waist, he stared at the woman's face. Red dragon scales on her cheeks and draconic eyes, he couldn't help but wonder again. Was this lady a dragon, or a chimera? He had no idea at this point. Green outfit, red dragon claws and tail, the chimera ended his examination. Nervous look on her face, the hyena returned such in tandem. Who in the world were these two?
"Fancy meetin' you here, stranger," the shorter dragon said. "Seem gone and ran into you by chance."
"Hello, Malati?" the taller dragon asked in an annoyed tone. "He's definitely up to something here."
"I reckon not," Malati responded, shaking her head. "He's jus' book huntin'."
"One, Fatui uniform," Rashmi responded, annoyed. "Two, entered here without permission." She then turned towards the Fatui soldier. "Three, you there, explain yourself." Her dragon claw pointed at the intruder.
Suspicions coming his way, the early adult held back the urge to sigh. He supposed he didn't blame this dragon person from bearing thoughts of shiftiness. Fatui were not regarded with the highest of remarks. He already knew that. Wordlessly communicating that he had been hunting grimoires to restart the symphony, he could see the taller dragon roll her eyes.
"One, prove it," Rashmi said, suspicious tone of voice. "Two, don't believe you." She crossed her claws across her waist. "Three, people like you are straight up liars."
Hearing such, the chimera could feel himself take large amounts of mental damage. He supposed that was a fair assessment. He had been a member of the Fatui. He had to have looked like a bad person by default. He would have to get used to such looks of disdain. They were never going to go away.
"Rashmi, he's fine, I reckon," Malati responded. "Nothing wrong with him."
"You Fatui, one, got my eye one you now. Don't do anything suspicious here. You will be caught," Rashmi said in a disgusted tone. "Two, use this to stop the grimoires. Bye."
Handed a conductor baton, the soldier stared at it for quite a long while. This was the key to stopping the magical tomes? He did not quite understand this. What was some musical stick going to provide for him? He hardly knew, but he supposed there had to have been some magical spell encoded inside it.
Running towards the flying books, the early adult waved the baton with a fury. Multiple grimoires stopping in place, the soldier huffed a breath. That was it, really? This couldn't have possibly been real. Why couldn't Her Majesty have given him something to prevent this? But, he knew it wasn't worth his time questioning it.
Next set of tomes stopped in their tracks, the chimera could not help but wonder. How exactly was he supposed to restart the symphony? Surely, it could not have been as simple as getting all the grimoires back. Opening the books up, emptiness soon awaited him.
Blank score sitting in front of him, the soldier tilted his head. This book, why was it empty? Had some bookworm eaten up the words, or something? But, the hyena rejected such prospect immediately. No way that was the case. Why would it be? That was impossible, for certain.
Running around the area once more, musical notes floated around everywhere. Multiple notations sitting upon the air in unison, the soldier ran towards them. He had to catch these things and restore the score to its former glory. Waving the baton, multiple bars and measures soon had company.
Multiple lost score notes sucked back into the tome, the questions had begun to roll themselves up into a ball. How could something like this happen exactly? This couldn't have possibly been normal. But, as he traversed further in search for the missing puzzle pieces, a new obstacle soon arose.
Spotting a equestrian man stone statute in the middle of a large room, the hyena lowered his eyes into a squint. What was this monument here? Something wasn't right about it. Petrified creature removing itself from its state of chaos, a flaming saber had come his way. Shoulder and blade shaking hands with one another, the hyena could feel his humerus become an unfunny mess. World spinning around as the blood drop, the soldier's consciousness slipped away, in moments.
What was that all about?

"That Fatui, he's playing a dangerous game right now,
He's acting like he's the
Innocent traveller who just happened to
Stumble upon this place.
For crying out loud, one, load of bologna, two,
A load of garbage.
Three, know how these people operate,
Unless this one is only pretending to be one,.
It's reasonable to believe he is untrustworthy. No
Doubts. That's how it is.
Of course that's now it is. Rule one: trust
No one in a long brown winter coat. Rule
One and a half. If
They mention owing
This debt to some God
Regarding herself as 'Her Majesty,' red flag two.
Unless stupidity has eaten up braincells,
Shouldn't pretend like
There's any trust to
Hand out here. There simply
Isn't, never will be.
Malati is extremely wrong
About that Fatui
There isn't any way he isn't
Against the Faded Castle
Looking to sabotage it
Looking to completely capsize it.
Why do something lie this? Who knows.
It doesn't even really matter.
Look, he'll be removed in due time.
Listen, won't deal with his person.
Never make dealing with a Fatuus
Every single one uses someone then
Violently collects
Every single payment they are owed.
Relatively speaking, this is quite
Tedious to prevent.
Really ought to seal
Up the entry that say
Some people can't just waltz in around here and
Take over the place.
Ha, as if that could be enforced, as
If. Not happening
Maybe it would if
Every single annoying human up above were in some
Violent stupid mood right now.
Each and every one of them filled up with
Rage. Get over it,
Get over it,
Eh. They will simply not get over it.
That won't be happening,
Of course it won't.
Until then, have
To get this Fatuus out of here. Broadcast some shouts.
Get out, get out, get out, get out, get out.
Even if it has
To be shouted in an echo, it will be said again. Get
Out, get out, get out, get out, get out.
Unleash some more shouts come on,
This fatuus hardly belongs here.
Get out, get out, get out, get out, get out.
Eh, still here, does
This have to be shouted louder,
Or something. En garde. Get out, get out, get out, get out, get out.
Ugh, still not working, still
There. Get out, get out, get out, get out, get out.
Get out, get out, get out, get out, get out.
Eh, the more it's shouted,
The less impactful it becomes. Whatever. Get
Out Get out, get out, get out, get out, get out.
Ugh, this guy is just asking for
The wrath of the dragon, isn't he?
Get out, get out, get out, get out, get out.
Everything makes sense now.
This is what he's asking for.
Of course, one can provide it
Ultimately with flying colors,
This Fatui won't leave.
Oh, gods. Just get out of here,
Remove yourself from here,
Fatuus. Leave this place.
Ah, still not leaving.
Cannot contain this rage. Feeling completely utterly, positively
Enraged. Fatuus aren't
Welcome here. Get out, get out, get out, get out.
Rage, rage, rage, rage, rage,
And indignation. Get out of
This place, or be removed. There's guards deployed
Here everywhere. Get destroyed"
Coming to the next morning in the same place he had fallen, the soldier winced. What happened to him? Something incredibly sticky on his shoulder, he almost instantly remembered. Right, that equestrian statue person ambushed him. He recalled now. How pathetic of him. How could he let this happen? Dragon women surrounding, more hurt than comfort had come his way.
"You ain't the most careful guy of the bunch, are ya?" Malati asked.
"Let him learn that the hard way, Malati," Rashmi said, monotone.
"We can't jus' go and leave him to die, you know?" Malati responded, shaking her head.
"Whatever," Rashmi responded, as she said such, her claws slaughtered the statue. "There, defeated it. Bye."
Dragons exiting the area, the chimera stared off into space. hat was up with this Rashmi person? She was quite the sour bunch of grapes, wasn't she? But, he shook his head. Not his problem. He had a score to restore, and a symphony to restart. There was no time to concern himself over the small things that didn't matter to anyone.
Huffing a tired breath, the chimera shrugged. They hardly mattered. Why would they? He knew they didn't mean a thing. Spotting floating music notes everywhere, the soldier leaped into action. It was time. Time for the next round of catching notes. Conductor baton on him, the symphony of the lost was ready to begin.
Notes one after another dropped into their respective books, the soldier could feel a wave of tiredness flow through him. Obnoxiousness was quite the tiring state of affairs. But, he shook such off. No time for any of that. Keep going, keep getting the notes. He had to do this, he had to focus.
Baton waved, multiple notations had been halted in their tracks. Grimoires opening themselves up, he couldn't help but begin to wonder. How many notes had been left that remained lost from their original source. He had to get them all back now before it was too late.
Dashing across the castle, the soldier could see an unusual looking portal in the corner. Was that the pathway towards the fallen kingdom and the lost seas? It had to be, he did not see it as anything else. Nothing else fit here, that was the truth. Dashing towards it for a moment, he tried to hop in.
But, nothing happened. Face hitting concrete, the soldier scratched his cheek. Why wasn't the portal accessible? Backing away, he turned around. Maybe it would only be able to be accessed after collecting a certain amount of missing notes within the symphony. That was it, surely, it had to have been. Resolute on his decision, he ran off towards the next set of notes.
Notations all caught, the chimera slammed the books shut. But, such had been a terrible result with immediate consequences. Notes floating out of the grimoire and disappearing, the hyena let out a grunt. Did the score just fly out of the tome? How incredibly annoying. He needed to gather them before they were to disappear forevermore.
Running as fast as he were able to must, multiple notes in one fell swoop could not be stopped. Baton unable to perform its duty, the chimera grit his sharp teeth. Was some sort of Archon trying to play games with him? If they were trying to annoy him, congratulations, they had succeeded in such. What a nightmare.
Looping around in a circle, not a single note would return to the tome. Musical quartered numbered placements playing out a tune entitled Not Returning to the Book, the hyena's eyebrows twitched. Was this really happening right now? This was outright unbelievable. Nonsense to the core.
Running in another loop around the castle of forgotten era, the chimera kept on shrieking. This couldn't have been real. He had to have been dreaming right now. Pinching himself, the soldier flinched. He was awake? No, this couldn't have possibly been real. This was a nightmare, the matrix; a combination of both points.
But, the soldier snapped himself out of it. He was awake right now, he had to deal with it. This was far from a dream. He had to catch the scattered notes once and for all, even if it was too difficult. Right, his objective was clear. He needed to wave the baton again.
Catching up with some of notations, the hyena moved the baton in a furious manner. He could do this, he could round up the lost notes like a lasso. Waving the stick in a chaotic rhythm they soon attempted to return to the tome. But, soon, a group of statues blocked the path in front of him.
Statues taking the notes for themselves, the hyena let out a growl. What did they do juts now? Was this reality? Monuments demanding a battle for the lost songbook's throne, the soldier rolled his eyes towards the ceiling. Really? Was this happening right now? Absolutely ludicrous nonsense. Wake him up from this simulated universe. But, the hyena popped such thought with a balloon. Wrong side of the playing field.
Finding an unusual greatsword with a large treble clef painted upon the hilt, the soldier couldn't help but feel a wave of confusion. Was this really a sword? It felt a little too light to be one, for some reason. But, he knew he couldn't allow for something like that to deter him. Right, fight the monsters, and the musical score shall return to him.
But, such battle had continued to be a failure for minutes on end.. Enemies reigning supreme, the soldier couldn't help but feel bewildered. What was he doing wrong here? Armor not budging even a little, his entire body twitched. Did these monsters have impenetrable armor? Great, that was just excellent, he was a sitting duck ready to be eaten.
Continuing to fail for minutes on end, the early adult's eyebrows twitched. What in all of Teyvat was he doing wrong here? Surely, these monsters should be easy to defeat. They were just stone golems. That couldn't have been too difficult. Slashing wildly, the failure spaghetti kept clinging itself to the wall.
Statues laughing, the early adult grit his teeth. These monsters were mocking him, weren't they? He needed to crush them, destroy them, have their heads roll off their bodies. But, the hyena snapped himself out of it. What in the world? That wasn't a solution. He really needed to stop thinking so many violent thoughts.
Letting out one last shout, the soldier tried once again, with feeling. But, battle continued to flop down like pancakes. These statutes they were too good for him. This greatsword was an utter failure at what it did best, slaying enemies. Hearing legs soon touch the ground, screams had come his way in a matter of moments.
"You're absolutely hopeless aren't you?" Rashmi asked in an annoyed tone. "Defeat the monsters in a rhythm. In. A. Rhythm. Understand?"
Rashmi flying upward once more, she had begun to a complicated rhythmic dance in the sky like it was nothing. Seeing such, the chimera's jaw dropped open. What was she, a sky dance? Pull a string, and she would fly up in the air. But, the chimera threw such thought away. What was he going off about? This wasn't a light novel.
Dragon continuing her dance, the statues had begun to get destroyed in their wake. Seeing such, the chimera blinked. How was this even possible? What exactly had she been doing that was working? Draconic people were on another level, weren't they? He was outmatched, outclasses, outdone.
"Rashmi, that's a nice battle style, and all," Malati said to the dancing Rashmi. "But, he ain't able to fly."
"One, windglider, duh," Rashmi responded, rolling her eyes. "Two, he can figure it out himself if he can't fly." She then turned towards the Fatuus. "Three, only helping with this batch. You're on your own now, bye. Malati move it."
"I reckon we stay and---?" Malati started to say, but failed to finish. "Nevermind, she's gone. Howdy tootin' better get out of here. Sorry, Fatuus, gotta go." She ran off as she said such.
Rashmi giving him aggressive advice, the soldier sighed. Windglider it is. Would this even work? There was barely a breeze here. This would go poorly, guaranteed. Running off towards the next group of note holders, he had soon been alerted of the answer to the portal to the lost sea opening.
Malati claiming if he wants to go to the Sea of Bygone Eras, the books of music must be filled up. Name Osse thrown around with claims of them being missing, the chimera blinked. Who was Osse? How did they go missing? He didn't know. And, perhaps, he would never know. He was definitely never returning to this place after the current mission were to end.
Dashing off towards the first set of enemies, the soldier groaned. It was time to get this aerial dance dance revolution over with. Whatever that meant. He had made such a phrase up. Taking a long deep breath, an up current had soon taken him away in a matter of moments.
Doing an aerial spin, the soldier broke out into a sweat. Was he even doing this right? He didn't nearly think so. Multiple notes returning as he did his first turn, he could feel his confusion only continue to grow. Why was this happening? This was so incredibly embarrassing. He was being watched, how awful.
Up current getting weaker, the soldier kept attempting to dance in a rhythm upon the air. He could feel the frustration eat him up like a plate of sliced up cubed fruits. Whoever was capable of doing this should change their name to Mary Sue. This was awful, he was losing steam, and fast.
Yoink.
Dropping down to the ground, the grimoire score books had soon been yanked out of his possession. Statues running off, the early adult could feel stress cling to him like a pile of rocks. These monsters, how dare they snatch his hard work. The book was nearing complete restoration. What utter nonsense.
Chasing after the creatures, the hyena screamed at the top of his lungs. Nope, no. No more of these games. These monument monsters are getting a taste of their own rocky medicine. He's going to stop them this time, even if he had to bet his entire life on it. Baton out in front of him, he waved it with a fury.
Stone creatures movement halted, the chimera could hardly believe his eyes. That was it? That was the way to stop them from moving? This conductor's baton, it felt like some sort of tabletop cheating device. There was no way this thing was fair. But, the soldier stabbed such thought with his greatsword. Who cares? He got them to stop moving. Yanking the book, he could hear ferocious wings flapping again.
"Fool! Some escaped into Petrichor!" Rashmi shouted. "Go back up there. Finish the job, Fatuus!"
"Rashmi, it ain't all that easy, ya know," Malati responded. "I reckon it's impossible to fly on a windglider through the water passage."
"This Fatuus is hopeless!" Rashmi shouted. "Going to fly the Fatuus back up to the surface. One, never expect this ever again. Two, invest in a water windglider. Three, failure, failure!"
Rashmi flying him back towards the surface, the soldier grit his teeth. What was this dragon lady's problem? What made her so angry all the time? He didn't understand her by any stretch of the imagination. Did she have some super berserk button always ready for pressing? Such had probably been the case. They would never get along.
Chasing the stone monument monsters all the way towards the cave in the edges of Petrichor, strange tile puzzles awaited the chimera. Seeing such a thing, the early adult let out another sigh. Not another series of little rhythmic nonsense. No more of this. But, the soldier shook his head. He needed to stop complaining. He had work to do.
Tile puzzle lighting itself up, a demand had been thrown his way. Yellow banner on the ceiling informing him to press the tiles in a certain pattern, one lit up after another in some sort of game where a person named Simon said stuff. Hopping to and fro from tile to tile to tile in a specific order, nothing made any licks of sense.
Moving right along, the second tile puzzle soon awaited the chimera. Same action as before repeated, the soldier could feel his energy continue to die. Dancing within a certain rhythm was a whole body workout, indeed. He could never do such a thing for long whatsoever.
Score soon returned to its full glory, the early adult let out a yawn. That should do it for the day. It was time to submit the book to its shelf and end this part of the mission. Restore the entire symphony in three days? That was impossible. It had to have been. He would need two weeks minimum, for sure.
Statues crumbling to dust, the hyena exited the cave. Rabiu and Lonan still hard at work, the hyena could feel a wave of concern flow through him. Had those two been working two days straight? But, the soldier shook his head. He barely had time to check up on them. He had to return to the Faded Castle beneath the sea.
But, as the soldier returned to the hole, a slippery slope awaited him. Heelless shoes sliding upon the soaked ground, the hyena had soon been upside down. Water hole crashing down upon him the water current took him away at rapid speed. Air cutting off, the chimera reached for this throat. His diving suit, he should have put it on ahead of time. What was he thinking?
Rapid stream continuing to carry him away, he had soon been pushed through the land hole. Lunged forward, a swordy gift soon awaited his torso across the walls of the castle. Slices dicing his belly a bright red, the meat was rare, cooked too short. Blade dragged one way and through the other, the world spun around as he fell to the ground in a dramatic matter. Eye closing, his consciousness had been snapped into nothing.
The drop down was pretty deep indeed.

Coming to the next morning in a place unknown to him, the hyena rubbed his eyes. Where was he now? Stomach completely bandage up, the chimera blinked. Huh, what happened to him? He can't seem to remember. But, he knew he couldn't just sit there. He had work to do. Attempting to lift himself upward from the bed, he had soon been caught by a little birdie.
"Black fish steak bro, don't move," Lonan said in a serious tone. "You got impaled right through the stomach. You need to be stitched back up." But, immediate defiance had come his way.
"I don't have time for this sir," the hyena responded, voice weak. "I have work to do. I need to go back to the castle." But, such point had been immediately shot down.
"Listen to me, black fish steak bro, if Rab hadn't saved you when he did, you'd have been a goner," Lonan said in a serious tone. "Don't be stubborn, kay? Gonna have to wait."
"It can't wait! I have to go back to work!" Siorc exclaimed, voice weak. "Her Majesty's going to kill me if she finds me here like this!"
"I know, bro, I know. Whoever this Majesty is of yours, she can suck on the eggs I can't lay. I'm not sending an injured man out onto the battlefield," Lonan responded in an even sharper tone. "So, hang tight. Rab knows what he's doing. You'll be good as new by the evening."
Hearing such, the soldier waved the white flag upon the battlefield. There was no way he was getting out of this one, was he? He was a bed prisoner, stuck here until further notice. Rabiu soon coming in with medical supplies, the soldier recoiled. It was time already? He wasn't ready. Surely, it could wait.
"Lonan, um, have you restrained him?" Rabiu asked. As he said such, he could her rope tied around something. "My cousin told me a while back he can be very difficult and stubborn sometimes."
"Yup, tied up all his weak points," Lonan responded, nodding. "He can't break free from this."
"Um, apologies, Siorc, but we can't have you bleed out and die," Rabiu said, words shaking. As he said such, he placed the thread through the suture. "This is going to hurt a little. So, bit something, if you need to."
Hearing such, the early adult almost bust a gut from internal laughter. Bite something? Absolutely ludicrous nonsense. What kind of suggestion was that? No, thanks, he was good. He had been stitched up many times before already. This precaution was utterly stupid. He was losing braincells by the minute.
As the suture poked through the stomach, the hyena's body throbbed. Tears streaming down his face, the chimera let out a scream. What was happening? Why was it stinging and throbbing? Needle intertwining with the epicenter of the wound, he had begun to squirm.
Sharp edges doing their dirty work, his screams only continued. Squirms intensifying, everything was thin ice. Someone, something please numb him right now. But, he could hear an apology. There was no tools to dull it. He was doomed, done for, a needlework project.
"Need to bite something?" Lonan asked. "Try this."
Rubber ball between his sharp shark teeth, the tears kept rolling. This was supposed to help? Nonsense, this wasn't helping at all. Trying with all his might to not pierce the rubber, the tears stained everything. Someone, please, numb him, take him out already. Why couldn't the Archons hear him? Archons, please listen to him.
"Shh, it's going to be alright, Rab's trying to fix you," Lonan whispered. "Please stop moving."
"It can't be helped," Rabiu said, shaking. "He got struck in a crucial area. No matter what, even if we could numb him, it'd probably still hurt."
Excruciating pain taking him over, the hyena could feel the world around him go black. No more, no more, he couldn't take any more of this. Sound beginning to dim, and everything pins and needles, the chimera could feel his consciousness begin to fade out.
Coming to sometime in the late evening, the soldier couldn't help but feel rather confused. Where was he, and why couldn't he remember the past half day or so? Lifting himself upward from the bed a wave of discomfort flowed through him. Huh? What was that tug he could feel in his torso? Lonan and Rabiu coming towards him, he could hear a loud tsk.
"Not so fast, black fish steak, bro," Lonan said in a stern tone. "You're not going back down to the Faded Castle alone."
"We'll bring you back there together, okay?" Rabiu asked. "And, um, next time, please remember to put on your diving suit before you are near the water hole. It could have cushioned your fall."
Hearing such, the soldier blinked. Right, right, he fell. He remembers now. That was his fault. How could he forget to put on his diving suit like that? His injury was his own doing. Fat, blubbery lard soon over him, he had been guided back towards the Fade Castle in one piece.
"You're probably thinking it's your fault right now, I bet," Lonan said, shaking his head. "S'not your fault. It's slippery over here. The citizens around here haven't done a thing about it. So, if anything we should blame them, not you. There's some weird storm cloud in the sky. But maybe finishing that symphony might help? Dunno. Rab and I aren't affected by it, so neither of us have a clue."
The hyena blinked upon hearing such. The citizens were still mad? How could they still be angry two days later? Something wasn't right here. Party of two ahead of him dropping down first, the hyena proceeded with caution. Dragged down the current, he could feel a heavy wave of fear. He would be a pancake again if he was not careful enough.
Reaching the faded castle after some time, the soldier couldn't help but wonder. Could completing the symphony reverse everyone's anger? Surely, that had to have been some sort of solution. He did not know, it had to have been worth a shot. But, he couldn't help but think back to what the hawk man just said. Lonan and Rabiu were not affected by this either. Were chimeras not considered a part of Teyvat at all? He could feel a sense of not belonging anywhere. But, the chimera threw such thoughts out. No, he's overthinking it.
"Dragon lady, come out, please!" Lonan shouted, hands cuffed around his face.
"One, that's Rashmi, to you," Rashmi complained, voice in a high pitch whine. "Two, don't know you, bird man. Why should someone who is a stranger respond to a summoning?" She rolled her eyes. "Hurry up, bird man, tick tick, speak. The generosity is hanging on the door. You just moved here, and look here, one dislikes you already. Good job."
"I reckon he's here for the portal to the lost sea?" Malati asked.
"One, okay, so?" Rashmi asked in an irritated tone. "Two, didn't ask, don't care. Three, bird man, this is hardly your business. Get out."
"Rasha, Black Fish Steak Bro needs to enter through here for his job," Lonan replied, pointing at Black Fish Steak Bro. "You seem like already knew that. Why are you so snappy?"
"Whatever, if Fatuus submits those stupid books, he can open the portal," Rashmi responded in an irritated tone. "Not like it matters, the portal won't work right now."
Sighing, the soldier could feel a heavy wave of annoyance flow through him. What was Rashmi's problem? Submitting the books into their shelves, the portal soon glowed a bright blue. But, the door shut itself almost immediately. Ah, he sees, the portal is open, but locked. Did he have to progress through some story to open it? But, he shook his head. What in the world was he saying? He wasn't some fictional character following some plotline.
"There. Door's open now, alright?" Rashmi said in an irritated. "But, you shall not pass today. Get out." As she said such she snapped her fingers. "Out, now."
Forced back upwards towards the surface world, the Ginger Fatui soon awaited the hyena. But, something had been off with her. Mask bright red, the hyena could feel a wave of unease. What was going on with her? Had she been affected by the anger miasma now, too?
"You're done this week, soldier," the Ginger Fatui said in an irritated tone. "Suspend your current investigation and go back to Snezhnaya now!"
Hearing such demands made of him, the early adult tilted his head. He had to go back to Snezhnaya now? But, he just opened the portal. How anticlimactic. But, he knew orders were orders. He had to go back, and that was final. Military Barracks Waypoint highlighted, the soldier closed his eyes.
Reaching the soundproof room after about ten minutes of walking, the early adult walked around in a circle, for a moment. That castle, just what was up with it, anyway? But, an immediate wave of tiredness soon overtook him. Everything soon removed, the early adult slumped into the rock hard bed. World of sleep taking him away, one last thought broke on through to the other side.
Is this symphony an omen of bad things to come?

"Oh, Archons, oh, archons, um what was that loud scream I just
Heard? Was that just now? Oh,
Gods, oh gods, oh gods,
Oh gods, oh gods, no
Don't tell he
Slipped and fell when
On his way back to the Faded Castle?
He did, didn't he?
Gods, oh gods,
Oh archons, oh gods,
Don't let him die from
Such a long and deep fall.
Oh gods, oh gods, oh archons,
He did, he definitely fell.
Gods, oh, gods, oh gods,
Oh Archons. No, no, no, calm
Down, calm down. Calm down. Think of s
Something. 'Um, Lonan, you heard that, right?' I asked.
'Of course, Rab. Black Fish Steak Bro fell, didn't
He? My hawk ears are never wrong.' Oh
Gods, Oh gods, oh, archons. How can he be so calm at a time like this?
Oh gods, oh gods, oh archons, oh gods. I
Don't have time to waste I have to go
Save him before it's too late and perform emergency services.
Oh gods, oh gods, something terrible
Happened to him. He's
Gushing blood. Oh gods,
Oh gods, oh archons. A hole in his torso.
Did a monster hide behind a wall and wait until he was vulnerable to
Strike? Gods, oh, gods, oh gods,
Oh, archons. This wound is pretty deep
How am I going to fill this in? Oh
Gods, oh gods, oh gods, oh gods,
Oh, archons my heart is racing,
Don't die, don't die! I
Should do something,
Oh, right, patch
Him up, patch him up,
Gotta stop the bleeding,
Oh god, oh god oh god, oh archons
Don't die, don't die, don't die,
Someone, anyone, any archon, perform a miracle and help me!
Oh, archons, my palms are sweaty, my
Hands shaking. Lonan places his palms onto mine. 'Steady now, bro. It's
Gonna be alright. You found him, right?'
Of course I did, but I can't hold steady like this.
Don't think about it as
Someone I want to st-- fr-- I have a c--, I admire very greatly. Yes, that's the one.
No, don't think
Of it like that. Just another patient in the Research Institute.
Now, steady goes, steady goes, steady goes,
Oh gods, El As, help stop the bleeding.
Now, spray down the
Oh, archons, my brain isn't working.
Don't fail me now,
Oh, archons, if I can't steady my emotions, I'll
Never make for a good doctor.
Oh, archons, breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe.
Take a deep breath. One, two, three, one, two, three. I can
Do this. I can save him.
I can save him from the bitter
End. I command El As again
Down the medical supplies goes.
Oh, the bleeding is stopping, I repeat the bleeding is stopping.
Now, the gauze is being laid
Onto the wound.
There's no way I can stich him up just yet, need to calm
Down, I need to calm down,
I need to calm down, I need to calm down. This isn't the
End, he's not going to die. Um, I know what I'm doing. I can fix this."
