Hey... how far exactly do you have to advance to unlock the ability to mix records in Sapphire/Ruby?

Also, to battle the trainer in the mixedrecord secret base, do you have to already have beaten the Elite 4?
The mixed records area upstairs is up and running once you hit Mauville.

As for your other question - NO. All you have to do is have gotten to Mauville and have mixed records. Now, if your friends SB location is somewhere you haven't gotten to yet, then you cannot battle there until you get there, of course.

Especially getting the ability to catch Ho-Oh and Lugia in-game.

Well actually, we have Colosseum and XD for that, so I don't think it's necessary for that reason.

Yeah, but those aren't very reliable sources if you are the type of person who tries to get Lugia/Ho-oh with good natures/IVs or shiny(I'm both). Ho-oh you can't even soft reset for, you must keep playing through Colosseum(which is a rather ok game imio), and Lugia can be soft reset for on XD, but it is very complicated, and takes a lot of effort to do so. I do plan on huntin for a Lugia this way, but by the way I'm making progress on XD, it doesn't seem likely I'll get there until February/March...

I do. Consider those that don't have Colesseum or XD or even a Game Cube. Now compare the cost of getting all of that to getting one cart that you can catch both on (resetting once of course). No comparison. That remake would be solid gold, imo.

When are the distinguishing features(natures, other values, shininess, etc.) of one-of-a-kind pokémon set? At the beginning of your game, or when you first see them?

If you are referring to when the IVs, Nature, Ability, Gender, and Color are set, it is when you first encounter them.

When you are breeding, in RS/FRLG, all of that info is set the moment you take the egg from Daycare Dude. In Emerald, everything EXCEPT the IVs are set then. You can still manipulate the IVs by saving before you take the egg, walk and hatch the egg, level up the egg using Rare Candies, and checking the IVs using an IV Calculator. If the stats aren't what you want, you reset and repeat.

Actually, I think it's a bit earlier than that--I think that it's all set as soon as you see the guy standing there...or perhaps even as soon as the egg is available, regardless of if you know yet or not. I say that because I tried saving right in front of the guy standing there before getting my egg and every time I soft reset I got the same stats, same nature, etc. I also went to the Battle Factory while the parents were in the breeding center once and when I got back, the egg was there, but each time I soft reset (I didn't save after the mandatory time) I again got the same Pokemon.

That is exactly what I am saying. Everything EXCEPT the baby Poke's IVs are set as soon as the Daycare Dude steps out with your egg. You can soft reset to change the IVs, but that is it. To get different nature/ability/gender, you have to either accept or reject the egg and wait for the Dude to have another egg for you.

This might be a stupid question, but can anyone tell me the location of the Move Deleter and the Name Rater? =(

Move Deleter - Lilycove City, house east of the Department Store.
Name Rater - Slateport City, house west of the Pokemon Center.
Move Tutor - Fallarbor Town, house west of the Battle Tent.

Thanks so much! I thought I once saw a Move Deleter in a Pokemon Center once, but I guess that was another game.

How can Swampert learn Curse? I know it's an egg move but what needs to be bred in order for Swampert to obtain it?

First you have to breed a male Torkoal that knows Curse (Lv7) with a female Wooper/Rhyhorn/Spheal until you get a male Wooper/Rhyhorn/Spheal baby that is born with it. Then you breed that male Wooper/Rhyhorn/Spheal that knows Curse with a female Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert. The baby will be born with Curse.

Hm, couldn't you just breed a male Torkoal with a female Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert? Why does it have to go through the Wooper/Rhyhorn/Spheal first?

Because Torkoal belongs to the Ground Egg group, while Mudkip belongs to Monster and Water 1 Egg groups. You have to use Wooper/Rhyhorn/Spheal because they belong to both the Ground Egg group and either the Monster or Water 1 Egg groups.

Okay, I gotta ask this... I've been wondering about it since I first got to Lilycove.

In Emerald, what's up with the Favor Lady in the Lilycove Pokemon Centre?

She says she's the favor lady, and then tells me about her current fetish (lately she interested in "sticky things"), and then asks me if I would share anything that's "sticky" with her. Does she give me something if give her something sticky? And if so, then what item is "sticky"? I can't think of anything.

The Favor Lady is lame. What you do is give her somethng that closely matches what she wants and then if you mix records with another cart and that cart has the proper TrainerID required to also have the Favor Lady, she will describe the item that you gave her and if they guess correctly they get it.

Something "sticky":

Energy Root
Full Restore
Max Potion
Dire Hit
X Accuracy
Guard Spec
Watmel Berry
Leftovers
Tinymushroom
Rare Candy
