Sinnoh Journey Journal v.2 - Share your travelling stories

i have been trying to get a shiny lucario forever by breeding lots of eggs i have bred 129 riolus and so far have been unsuccesful. i dont have an action replay so i have to do this till i get one. eventually i got desperate that i thought if i bred a pokemon holding a shiny stone it would lay an egg that would hatch into a shiny pokemon.

If I had access to Wi-Fi more than once every two weeks I would gladly mod you a Riolu egg so that it hatched shiny. If you're interested (and don't mind a bit of a wait) feel free to add my instant messenger name and we'll work something out, honey.

Right now im randomly breeding Eevees for the fun of it lol =P

Wow, made my team feel really weak... I just passed through there myself, with a team of...

Lv 24 Staravia
Lv 25 Graveler
Lv 29 Kadabra
Lv 26 Monferno
Lv 27 Budew (can't figure out how its happiness isn't max yet :()
Lv 22 Luxio

I've been doing fine, and my moves are rather balanced, so I'm not too worried about what I'll run into.

Edit: Holy... I really should've trained them more... after that dual battle with those Ace Trainers, I was left with my Budew... I couldn't get through them without having my Graveler Selfdestruct... even my Luxio got crushed. :(

XD, all of my poké's fainted, too! Beside Luxray and Shieldon. But, since I've found my Diamond, I let my friend borrow Pearl. His report: He just beat the 6th gym leader Byron, and none of his my poké's are level 40 yet. There goes my overtraining.. But on Diamond, I bred a promising Zubat, with Hypnosis. Going to max out its speed ev's, and get it into a Crobat.

Pokemon Pearl Journal

October 13 – 27, 2008

Once again I've been keeping busy, so I haven't kept track of too many specifics within the pokemon realm. Mostly, I've been training my Barboach and Golbat, preparing them for both contests and gym battles.

Both have worked very hard over the last few weeks, and have each earned an Effort Ribbon in Sunyshore City. Also, when we passed by the beaches near Pastoria, the man living near there saw the bond that had formed between Golbat and me, and awarded it the Footprint Ribbon.

I also entered Golbat in its first few winning contests. It won a Cute Ribbon and a Tough Ribbon in Hearthome, and a Snooze Ribbon in Sunyshore. Barboach added a Smile Ribbon to its collection as well. That makes 16 ribbons for Barboach, and 5 for Golbat.

Once I had my fill of being a coordinator, I went back to training my team for the Sunyshore Gym. I found Volkner, the Sunyshore Gym Leader, at the Vista Lighthouse. From the lighthouse one could see the tall towers of the Pokemon League headquarters. Volkner said he was considering challenging the Elite Four and the League Champion, since no challenger has managed to beat him lately. He said he would accept my challenge, and after he beat me, he'd challenge the league. As if that's going to happen.

So, I checked out my current roster of pokemon. Mr. Mime and Hippowdon both already helped me in gym battles before. That leaves Steelix, whose ground-type should be a great benefit against an electric gym; Pachirisu, being electric-type itself, should be a good match-up; Barboach, who wants payback after its defeat at the last gym; and Golbat, who seems excited to test its mettle in a gym, even with a disadvantage.

So I went out to do some training, and then entered the Sunyshore Gym. My pokemon easily beat the trainers inside, although what the heck is an Energy Ball using Mr. Mime doing in an electric gym? Anyway, when I had Golbat battle, I found out it learned Poison Fang! That should help against the gym leader. Plus, it might look great in a pokemon contest as well.

So, a little more training, and it's time for that gym battle!

Well I'm deciding on making a well off team to enter pokemon contest, so far I have beautifly, glaceon, ambipom, and primplup...but I still need a pokemon for the cute section...plus I need to breed these pokemon to get the right natures for the type fo berry...being a coordinator is not easy work...but it is different and fun as well...lol

I know what you mean. I'm currently working on my shiny espy and my vaporeon for contests. I'm planting durin berries for espy but it seems like it's taking forever. I have petaya berries for vaporeon but her moveset leaves something to be desired so I don't know.....if only she was as good as absol. He has three beauty ribbons and is competing in the master rank but a lass he doesn't do too well in the dress up category. Being a fellow coordinator as well as battle trainer, I admit it's definitely hard work.

Pokemon Pearl Journal: Sunyshore Gym, Part 1

October 28, 2008

My pokemon and I made our way further into the Sunyshore Gym. The trainers there had an odd variety of pokemon, such as Psychic or Fighting-type pokemon who knew electric-type moves. It really gave my team good training before facing Volkner. Soon, we were ready to face the over-confident gym leader!

Sunyshore Gym Challenge: vs. Volkner

It was a 4 on 4 battle, no time limit, substitutions allowed. Up to 1 Full Restore or lesser recovery item may be used by each side during the battle. Hold items allowed.

"I hope you're the trainer who'll make me remember how fun it is to battle," Volkner said in a very uninterested tone of voice.

"You'll remember, because you're gonna lose!" I said as I pulled a great ball out and enlarged it. I decided to start out with a defensive powerhouse. "Go, Steelix!"

Volkner sent out his Raichu. In theory, I have the advantage in this matchup.

And so, the battle begins!

"Steelix, Crunch, let's go!" Steelix lunges its massive body forward with its steel jaws wide open.

"Raichu, stop it with Brick Break," Volkner said as his Raichu jumped in the air with its arm raised high, lighting up.

Brick Break? I wasn't expecting a Raichu to know Brick Break. As a fighting-type move, it will be super-effective against my steel-type Steelix. But, luckily, most Raichu don't have a lot of attack power to back it up. So both pokemon's attacks hit, doing moderate damage to each.

"Raichu, Light Screen." Volkner was trying to block special attacks.

"Steelix, use another Crunch attack!" This time, it did even more damage. Raichu's defense must have decreased from the first Crunch. But the contact with Raichu left Steelix paralyzed!

"Hang in there, Steelix! Use Dragon Breath!" Not the best move to use with a Light Screen up, but I was hoping for its secondary effect. And it worked! The Light Screen may have prevented damage, but it left Raichu paralyzed as well!

"Great job, Steelix!" Steelix roared in excitement. Volkner used a Hyper Potion to heal his Raichu's damage. Steelix moved in for another Crunch attack. Volkner commanded Raichu to use Brick Break again, but it couldn't move from the paralysis! Steelix connected with its Crunch, then Raichu managed to get off a Brick Break before Steelix finished it with one more Crunch.

"Raichu is unable to battle. Steelix wins the round!" said the judge.

I returned Steeix to its great ball, waiting to see what pokemon Volkner chose next. He sent out his… Octillery? In an electric gym? I am still pleasantly impressed by how diverse the Sinnoh Gym Leaders are, since you never know what surprise will be up their sleeve next.

Just came back from the battle tower with an impressive victory. It was unexpectedly an eon team that did it. I have two eons currently on my main team roster. their so called newbies so for this particular battle, I went and got an old friend, my glaceon. So Shiny espy, vaporeon, and glaceon took the tower until they finally made it to palmer. First up Dragonite. I'm like oh crap he's first this time so I swipe out espy for vaporeon for decoy since she doesn't know ice beam yet ( I know cruel but she took one for the team) he one hit ko'ed her with dragon rush. I brought out glaceon. I thought my glaceon would be faster than dragonite but no, another dragon rush and it almost killed glace, but he hung in there and one hit ko'ed the big jolly with ice beam. Next up, rhyperior. Ice beam to the head and yay cleared him........but wait, he hangs on by a thread! Kills glace with flamethrower. Crap................let's go espy! Espy gets in there and takes him out with grass knot. Let's go get that big snake! Okay my espy's pretty fast so I use grass knot, but guess who's faster......you got it, the snake. Hypnosis! CRAP, CRAP, CRAP! I try to use grass knot but it uses hydro pump. Man I'm a goner. I use grass knot again, Espy wakes up and critical hit we win! AWESOMENESS! The newbies were rewarded with the ability ribbon, sadly glace had one already but I couldn't have done it without him. Now let's go for the next ability ribbon!

WOW...awesome job sounds really close and exciting...and yeah I don't deny you on before coordinating for these contests are not easy...I do wish they were like the anime though, now that would be AWESOME! lol
Anyway, I have been doing a couple of WiFi battles with my newest team I was working on and I have to be honest, they are the top of my list...my new team got me out of the most stickiest situation ever...
Here is how the ending was like:

I had two pokemon left Shuckle and Milotic. My opponent had a Milotic and tyranitar left...
I send out shuckle he send out a poisoned milotic, his milotic had a critical hit surf on my shuckle and fainted it...GREAT!
Now I'm left with one pokemon and he has two..I send out my sleeping milotic, he switched into Tyranitar, my milotic actually WAKES UP and uses sure...gets tyranitar on below half, he switched back to milotic(who is now on low red because of the poison getting worse and the stealth rock I set up at the begining, puts me to sleep, sends out tyranitar and uses stone edge on milotic, gets me on red, next turn milotic wakes up amd finishes tyranitar with surf (talk about luck). Then he send out his milotic but got finished with stealth rock...I WON! wow that was a great battle and I had fun...I have to say it kept me at the edge of my seat...LOL

Reminds me of a sticky situation I got out of, except Shuckle survived.

I was against an opponent. I had Shuckle and Gengar. Shuckle used Power Trick, and next turn, Gengar fainted. I was thinking that I was going to lose. Luckily they ignored Shuckle, and because of Pwer trick, its ATK was now 558, it used Earthquake and knocked out the enemies Sceptile and something else.

I'm amazed at you and quick kid's adventures! makes me feel like we are part of the anime! I can't wait to hear more of you guys adventures! I'm currently working on my arcanine and my vaporeon as far as battles go. Espeon is working on contests battles and ribbon collecting. He's sitting on 13 right now without any contests done. So once I get him prepped for contests, we are going to take the master rank by storm!

I haven't entered too many contests myself in DP but I just got the idea that I'm ready to take them on with full force! What do you think of this idea Treecko-kt...Glaceon for Beauty and Beautifly for Smart? I'm still re-doing things...but ever since RSE I've been in love with contests and now I'm going to get serious about winning them....but yeah I have had some very great battles...Turtwigtoon and I had a few battles as well, but we yet have to come to a close ending match...but I now found out that I have an adamant rampardos with 31 IVs in atk, sp. atk, and spd...which is really cool!

I especially love the glaceon beauty idea. My glaceon has a total of I think 23 ribbons. I loved him so, but he was making my overall team weak due to his weaknesses.....I'm thinking about breeding for a female glaceon that knows yawn, I think that might come in handy. What types of berries are you going to use for beautifly? I'm using durin berries for espy. I'm hoping I can max out his smartness but he likes to eat everything so it maybe hard......

Well later on I shall start breeding for the right nature that is great for blue poffins...I'm planning out everything to be PERFECT...I want to take down the master rank with a bit of ease...

Well I just got out of another battle a few minutes ago and my pokemon really pulled it though for me I had two pokemon left and he had three pokemon left while I had two...he had scizor, umbreon, and metagross...while all I had was my alakazam and arcanine...oh boy was it a close one...but I gotta say stealth rock, roar and flare blitz can do a lot for you...along with leftovers...lol

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, I won the battle with great strategy...WOO HOO...

Well as of now on wifi i battled Quick_Kid and it ended up in a draw.....that's it lately..

Paid a visit to Pal Park to see Prof. Oak.
Received Up-Grade from Prof. Oak in Eterna City.
Caught a Glameow.
Looking for a Ditto using Poke Radar but no success.

Flareon

Level: 62

Aerodactyl
Level: 57

Well like said earlier I did earn a draw against Lil_Miss...but it was an amazing battle at the near end...I had only had arcanine while she had Umbreon...an early toxic started weakening my arcanine badly...but I thought to myself at the end that my team has worked extremely hard for me and I wasn't going to disappoint them...so since arcanine is clearly faster that umbreon and both of us were down to red HP...I ended it with a critical Flare Blitz ending the long and fun battle in a Draw...man, I've gotta say my sister has gotten a lot stronger...Good Job Lil_Miss

I just finished maxing out my vaporeon's beauty for contests, and as expected she got the beauty scarf. It seems that my espy will miss the max by just a little bit. Which is good considering he will eat anything and doesn't get the boost for liking bitter foods. but it will be okay because I'm sure he will still take on the master competition. It's also kind of tricky because they are my battling team so I'm trying to get the movesets right for both competition and contests. After they both win in their respective areas, I'm going to train them to lv. 100.

I uploaded Gligar into my Pearl and got a Gliscor. : D

Pokemon Pearl Journal: Sunyshore Gym Battle, Part 2

I returned Steeix to its great ball, waiting to see what pokemon Volkner chose next. He sent out his… Octillery? In an electric gym? I am still pleasantly impressed by how diverse the Sinnoh Gym Leaders are, since you never know what surprise will be up their sleeve next.

"A water-type, eh? Glad I came prepared. Go get 'em, Pachirisu!"

I had Pachirisu start off with a Discharge attack, filling the battlefield with electricity. Octillery was using a barrage of Bullet Seed attacks against my Pachirisu.

"Pachirisu, get in close and use Super Fang!" Super Fang is nice because it will cut a pokemon's stamina in half. But it got too close, allowing Octillery's Bullet Seed to do some rapid-fire damage.

"Use Spark to get out of there!" I commanded. Pachirisu slammed into Octillery, knocking it back, but also taking more damage from its Bullet Seed.

Octillery was about to fire an Octazooka attack, but I had set Pachirisu up for a Last Resort since it used its other three attacks. Both powerful attacks fired and collided, damaging both combatants. Both pokemon were heavily damaged, and seemed as if they would faint from one more hit. Thankfully, my Pachirisu was faster, and used Discharge before Octillery could get off an attack.

"Octillery is unable to battle!" Two pokemon down, two to go. I had Pachirisu return and rest since it couldn't take much more.

"Luxray, power up!" Volkner said as he tossed the pokeball into the field. Wow, that's one tough-looking Luxray.

"Barboach, maximize!" Barboach appeared in a flurry of blue confetti, shining as it emerged from its pokeball.

Luxray used Crunch on Barboach, but my highly defensive Barboach was able to handle it. I had it respond with an Earthquake attack. It was super-effective, but minimally damaging. Luxray used another Crunch attack, and it landed a critical hit on my Barboach!

"Barboach, return!" I quickly recalled my pokemon. I sent Steelix back out.

Steelix and Luxray exchanged Crunch attacks, both landing powerful hits. Volkner had Luxray eat a Sitrus Berry it was holding, while I used a Hyper Potion on Barboach's pokeball. Luxray kept pounding away at Steelix with its Crunch attack. I had Steelix use one final Dragon Breath attack, hoping to cause paralysis, but no luck. Steelix eventually succumbed to the Crunches.

"Steelix is unable to battle. This round goes to Luxray!"

I returned Steelix to its pokeball for a well-deserved rest. Luxray is a powerful attacker, but maybe if I turn that power on itself…

"Golbat, maximize!" White streams of light exploded from the pokeball as Golbat appeared with a shine. "Quick, use Confuse Ray on Luxray!" The Confuse Ray hit, but Luxray was fighting its influence. It fired a Charge Beam which hit Golbat hard!

"Golbat, try Poison Fang!" The attack hit, but no poison secondary effects. Another Charge Beam from Luxray struck Golbat, this time much stronger than the first. Golbat fell to the ground, unable to battle.

"It's ok, Golbat, you did your best," I said returning it to its pokeball. And just like that, the match was tied at two a piece.
