  • Hoenn was fine until you got past Lilycove. The amount of surfing they forced upon you just totally killed it. There is nothing more annoying in Pokemon than constantly running into a Tentacool just about every five steps.

  • I prefer Sinnoh

Am I the only one who pronounces it (out of those of us who played DP in Japanese first, before the English version came out) "Shinnou"? I just can't get over it. It's a little annoying because I sometimes misstype it with an SH. ...I also still forget some English Pokémon names in the Shinnou (DAMMIT) Sinnoh region like calling Shinx "Kolink"

I never really ended up calling it Shinnou (spelled it Sinno for awhile though), but I did (and sometime still do) tend to say a few of the Japanese names, but for certain ones. Naetoru, Pochama, the Mukus and Greguru. Kinda. (I ended up mispronouncing that Gregul, and it stuck. xD)

But I really do like Sinnoh. The gym leaders are crazy I just loved the design and layout more of Sinnoh.

lol xD you got stuck on the same Pokémon I did. especially with Pochama and Greguru

The only thing that DIDN'T stick were the towns names (except for the starting)

  • I prefer Hoenn.

    Why? Mainly the amount of water, areas, and everything overall. Hoenn basically has an Ocean. Sinnoh? A couple of water ways. :/ And I just disliked the whole mineral feel it has. Hoenn you had secret bases above ground and I loved every inch of it. In Sinnoh I dislike quite a few places. o_o; I'm just not a big fan of the Sinnoh region, while I feel Hoenn delivered of my favorite regions of all time. (Behind Johto) I replayed RSE thousands of times, DP? Not once, I didn't want to go through that ingame storyline again. >_>;

  • Sinnoh seemed... darker.

That's why I will never like it as much as the other games, I think the semi-3D of the game sort of ruined it a bit. To be honest, the first time I played through Diamond I didn't finish it. Sure, Hoenn's got the annoying amounts of water, but Sinnoh has all this god damn snow!

Hah hah, yeah I never got the city names stuck. I didn't remember them really in the first place!
What about the Gym Leaders? I never took notice to Fatina because I didn't really care too much about her (besides she was NEVER THERE) but when I started to see her in the anime I've called her Melissa more. I switch between Shirona/Cynthia, but the rest stay in the english names.

I didn't quite like the semi-3D at first, but I did get used to it after awhile. xD I forgot about the snow! Oh yeah the snow was cool until you got into the deep shtuff. It makes me feel like Sinnoh has such a non-static region and I had favorite towns, whereas Hoenn I didn't really care about any of the towns. :[

In-game I prefer Sinnoh, because the towns actually were populated unlike Hoenn which had like 8 people in Oldale, and probably just about 15 or less in Mossdeep.

Also the seas. Too much surfing. It's all I remember in Hoenn.

That aside, I liked the diversity in Hoenn. Sinnoh is too narrow; two Gyms with almost the same type, and it was a pain geting around before Fly. In Hoenn I actually enjoyed running through the desert routes and the rain. Fortree bugs me, though.

  • Emerald is the game that I have spent the most time on and had the longest (had Blue way back when - but lost it!), so I like Hoenn. Although I always struggled with the Electric Gym.

    Hoenn.
I was addicted to R/S/E (and I still am)
I always liked how there were lots of places to go in the region of Hoenn. In Sinnoh There's not many areas and there's only a couple water routes.

This should have really been turned into a poll post...

honestly Hoenn is my favorite hands down, it is at the top of my list compared to all the other regions...but between the Sinnoh and Hoenn, ( hoenn still remains my number one) they just both have their ups and downs...that's all...

  • Well, I like them both for different reasons...but in Hoenn, you had to surf for hours...
I guess Sinnoh, it was more fun to explore in my opinion, and had a variety of terrains, like snow and marshes.

in hoenn, the landmarks are incorporated better into the plot of the game, but johto is still the best.

  • Sinnoh had better pokemon. The shape in general was awesome as it was based on Hokkaido unlike Hoenn. I thought the layout was a bit more thought out.

I prefer Sinnoh over Hoenn. Why? Well, Sinnoh has more of a 'cold' feeling as oppose to Hoenn's 'cool and wet' feeling.

I also prefer the snow that appears when your trying to reach Snowpoint City (Excluding Platinum).
Hoenn is filled with far too much water, which makes is annoying to travel without encountering several wild pokemons (Fortunately, there's repels).

    Overall, I prefer Sinnoh.
