Actually Opals are found in quite a variety of colours, so you're not really wrong in saying blue. Most commonly they're white, like pearls but tinted with a lot of other pretty colours when hit by the light...

I've seen two types of Opals: White/Pink. Gosh, I'm stuck with two colors I don't like for my birthstones.
