Okay, we all know social netowrking sites a very popular and can be in some aspects very dangerous. Even though there are many ditsurbing stories that are shown on the news we still choose to use such sites, but why? Why do we use such sites that we know can be emotionally, physicaly and mentally scarring?

There are some of us however who don't use these sites. Why?
My final questions is this: Home many sites do use of this kind; are you scared for your saftey and the saftey of others?

I use Facebook and Twitter. There are times when I put myself at risk, as well as the safety of others, but that rarely happens, except recently.

I have Facebook and Myspace. I used to be addicted to FB, but now, it just doesn't interest me as it did before. Myspace is as such, too.

I use facebook. Nothing bad has happened to me over it as of yet. I used to be addicted but now I'm starting to get over it. It's really not that interesting to me anymore...

Yes, I used to regularly visit Myspace; back in the time where though I was cool and all hip and gangster. I look at it now and think of what a fool I used to be. XD
    Don't we all?

Me too, I used to be obssed with Facebook until I got sick and tired of those chian letters: "You will see a girl in your room if you break this message!", "Don't send this and somehting bad will happen.", "If you don't send this and you'll die!" Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah. Accoridng to these chain letters I have seen a girl in my room 3 times and have died about - my estimate - 100 times maybe more. Yet strangley enough I am still here, living an amazing life with my beloved family and friends. XD

Oh, I use Facebook. I used to be somewhat addicted to Friendster, when all of my friends used it but yeah, that site is dead. xD

I'm not addicted to Facebook though, and only have them since most of my classmates have one. But I do seem to be online there most of the time, but lol, I'm not addicted to it, I just open it for the sake of opening it. xD

I use Facebook and Twitter... Facebook is for keeping track of/getting in contact with people, and Twitter I use only 'cause it shows up on my PC profile, and I can talk to Sammyskitty though it~

I feel Facebook is pretty secure. And Twitter doesn't matter to me, it's basically like looking though my text inbox/at one side of a convo.

PC is about as social as I get online.

I have enough trouble remembering to check my several email accounts and the handful of websites I look at regularly. Social networking sites would drive me crazy with their need to be checked all the time. I just know that if I had a mytwitfacetube account people would only want to contact me through that and if I didn't respond right away they would think that I was ignoring them or something. Not that I'm great about responding to people anyway, but it's the principle, you know?

I don't use any mainstream social networking sites. It's not because I'm scared (who would wanna stalk and rape a 21-year-old male?), but because I just don't see the point. I don't have many friends to begin with, and I don't particularly feel like being dragged into a specific clique because I know someone who is tangentially related to that circle of people. I hate people and would like to avoid being associated with large groups of them if I can help it.

I use facebook, because all my friends have accounts there. When I need to tell something to, like, everyone I know, I dont have to call each individual and I just post it as my status. Also I wanted to make contact with my ex-classmates from elementary and stuff but didnt have their numbers anymore. So I just typed their names in FB search and found them all. Facebook is actually pretty sweet :3 And I dont share important info about me with it, so I guess Im safe.

I have a facebook. I upload a load of pics.. but I don't accept any people I don't have mutual friends with.. if they look iffy, y'know? I'm safe I guess, and I use it to stay in contact with my family, as I moved house and they no longer live anywhere near me, to keep up to date on people and... to stalk people!

i have two facebooks- one for my friends from school which has been deactivated out of intolerance for their compulsions to notify everyone of every trivial occurrence that takes place in their lives and another for the friends i want to stay in touch with. i follow a few celebrity twitters that i find amusing, but i dont have my own account. myspace tsh get with the times

and no im not scared for my safety facebook is p private

I don't really fear for my safety when it comes to the internet... I probably should, but I don't. I guess it's just that stereotypical teenage feeling of invincibility, lol. That being said, the only site I DO use is Facebook and even then I only log on once every couple of days to keep in touch with my more distant friends. I used to use MySpace a lot back when it was popular because it was way more customizable than Facebook, whereas on Facebook everything looks exactly the same no matter who's page you're on. It just lacks individuality, which I need in a site like that.

Twitter, on the other hand, is the bane of my existence. I don't know about other people, but I have neither the time nor the inclination to know what you're doing 24/7. Besides the fact that the concept just seems stupid to me, I had a really bad experience with it last year. Talk about "mentally scarring," it cost me my best friend who now wants absolutely nothing to do with me. ):

It seems like just about anything you do puts you in some sort of harms way whether it be physically or emotionally. I guess that's just life in general. People are going to do what they like regardless of the dangers. If we always kept away from activities that could possibly cause us harm the we'd all lead pretty boring lives. For example just driving around in your car is a danger, but we do it anyway.

As for your other question ~back in the day~ I was Myspace obsessed. I was one of the first kids in the grade to get one (5th grade) and I made sure to design it with all different glittery image junk. As I got older I went for a more simplistic design, but needless to say it was bad for a long time. Then one day I just stopped logging on to it out of boredom. It's been about five years since I last touched it and I plan on keeping it that way.

Nowadays I don't go on social networks just because I've lost all my interest. I really think I burned out all my enthusiasm on them from being overly obsessed with Myspace. xD The closest website I'm actively apart of now to a social network would be PC itself. Although none of my real life family or friends are members here (which I hope it stays that way<3) so I suppose it's a little far from being a true social network. In my case at least.

To this day I love Myspace, because I really enjoy making layouts for it, and I use it mainly for roleplay-related purposes. Other than that, the only thing I really use is Twitter, since I tend to dislike Facebook for whatever reason. The other thing I use a lot is OneWorldRoleplay, but that's so close to Myspace that it's not even funny. o_O

Does DeviantArt count? I use it too.

Facebook for my real life friends and really close online friends and Twitter for my online friends and like Drew said if DA counts then yea

I personally use Facebook and Formspring. The former I use for getting contact information of friends in real life (some exceptions) and the latter is just for fun and open to anyone. I check both a few times per week, or whenever I get an e-mail notification. I usually keep super important information on the down low (ex. address and phone numbers) so I'm not too anxious about having one of those.

Funny you should mention, Facebook is being REALLY annoying right now. But yeah, I use mainly Facebook and I also use Twitter. I'm careful what I do, so I go ahead and using it without worrying at all if some stalker is following me, because he isn't.
