Here are my answers! If you don't understand one of the questions (like the dropping a book one, maybe?) read mine and hopefully you'll understand!
1. Do you read books for entertainment? Yes!
2. If yes, why? If not, why not? I tend to enjoy it more than watching TV or movies.
3. What type of books are your favorites? What are your least favorites? Fiction is my favorite! Biographies are my least favorite.
4. How long does it take you to read a page? It takes anywhere between a few seconds to a minute, tops.
5. What is your opinion on people who say "I don't read?" I think they're ignorant and trying to look cool in front of others. I see these all the time on the favorite books section on people's Facebook profiles, and I just can't help but think that they're displaying a sign of lesser intelligence. I don't know where in society it became a bad thing for younger people to read, but that needs to be fixed. There's nothing wrong with reading.
6. From when you first start reading, how long does it take you to see what you're reading? It usually takes me roughly three minutes to be able to imagine what I'm reading from the point I pick up a book, if I'm in the mood to read. I keep that the entire time I'll be reading, though, which is good. I know of a few people who can instantly see what they're reading, but lose it halfway through a chapter. Where-as for me, I tend to keep it until I stop reading for a long period of time.
7. How fast do you typically go through a book? I generally like to read rather long books, since I find them more interesting. Since it takes me about a minute to read a page, I'm going to go by that and say each page would count as a minute. So since I read books that usually have 400 pages or more, it takes me about 400 minutes to finish a book.
8. Do you find yourself reading slower than you normally do when you're reading a book? I'm a fast silent reader, but a very slow verbal reader. I read books silently but when I read them, I read them a lot slower than I would, say, a history book for school. I find it more enjoyable that way, and it lets me be able to imagine everything that's happening, which is my favorite part about reading.
9. Do you have to be in the right mood to start reading, or can you start at any time? I have to be in the right mood to start reading efficiently. I can pick up a book and start reading it if I'm not in the mood, but it will just end up not registering at all with me. I'll instantly forget the sentence I read beforehand. The right mood for me tends to be a majority of the day, but I don't usually know until I start reading. After a few minutes, if I'm not picturing what's going on, I'm not in the mood.
10. Ending your reading session in the middle of a chapter. How do you feel about that? I cannot express how much I dislike stopping in the middle of a chapter, even if it's just for a few seconds. Once I start a chapter, the only way I'm going to stop, is if there's an emergency. Even if I have to go to the bathroom, I won't go until I finish reading the chapter.
11. Counting the pages left in a chapter while you're reading. Do you do it? I do this allll the time and I don't even know why. Sometimes I get this ugh feeling when I see that a chapter ends in thirty pages, but seeing as how quickly that goes by, I don't know why I do it. Sometimes I check to see how much longer I'd be there, but I don't think that's it most of the time.
12. When you finish a book, what kind of feeling do you get? When I close a book after finishing it, I close it with a regret readers feel only after experiencing a good story.
13. "I'm halfway through this book, and it is getting progressively worst. I'm not reading this anymore!" Ever drop a book? Usually when I pick up a book, I end up finishing it. I've only dropped two books, and I've since forgotten their names.
14. Re-reads. Do you do them? I've not once read a book I haven't read at least twice.
15. What draws your interest in picking up a book? I am guilty of judging a book by it's cover. In saying that, I do tend to read the back and the inside cover of a book to find out what it's about, but I'm more inclined to pick up a book to do so if the cover is something that interests me aesthetically.
16. If you were an author, what condition would you like your books to be in? I'd love to walk into a house, find a book I wrote, open it, and find the spine completely cracked and hear the sound of it when I open the book. I'd love to turn a page and find that the page itself has that rather hard feeling to it that books tend to get after they get wet. I'd love to see coffee stains on the pages and dried up tear marks. I'd love to look at the book closed and see faded colors of food or spills along the ends. That to me would mean that my job is one worth while.
17. Do you prefer reading a series, or just a single? I loveee reading series. It gives me something to look forward to, where-as, single books have that it's over feeling after finishing them. Granted the last book of a series has that too, and it's usually a lot worse, I think it's worth it more when you've experienced a story that's more than just a book long!
18. "OMG CHARACTER DIALOGUE!! so much more interesting than descriptions!!" Do you agree? I always find myself glimpsing down a bit and catching dialogue when I'm in the middle of a really long paragraph. I don't know why, and that's why I tend to try to cover up the parts I'm not at yet, because I tend to spoil myself that way. But dialogue between characters is my absolute favorite thing to read!
