Simply put, are there any name brand products/services that you don't trust for whatever reason? Either because you've had bad experiences with them, you've been told they're of poor quality, or you just don't plain like their looks/logo/etc.

    For me:

Super 8/Days Inn/Holiday Inn: Had bad experiences at all of these lodging chains. The first two were just plain filthy and nasty, while one Holiday inn tried to scam us by double-billing us for our (mediocre) room.

Kia Motors/Nissan: Kia is essentially low-end economy crap. Nissan is better quality wise, but their designs are so ugly I wouldn't be caught dead in one.

Acer/Gateway/eMachines: My current eMachines netbook has a busted headphone jack, battery that won't fully charge, and is painfully slow even with Google Chrome.

    Burger King: Their fries? Nasty.

BP/Texaco: My parents have always avoided their gas stations because they said that the fuel never worked well in their vehicles. I guess I just kinda assumed that to be true xD

Sanyo: Used to be trustworthy until I bought a DVD recorder of theirs. The stupid thing would fail to eject discs, corrupt discs (thereby wiping out the data and turning the DVD into a coaster) and the front display panel died. Then the whole thing died. I haven't bought a DVD recorder since.

Geek Squad: When you have to wait three hours in a Best Buy to get your laptop back after it was supposedly ready to be picked up after repairs... and when you found out they lost the AC power adaptor in the process... there's some obvious problems there.

    That's a lot of negativity. :(

I don't generally remember brands/chains for bad things, especially if it's something that can change from store to store. For example, there are some McDonald's where they have food sitting out for 7 or so hours, then there's great ones like the one in Atlantic City or the one down the street where they sell Big Macs for a buck.

Yeah, I really can't think of a single brand that I recoil at. There are some that I like more than others (i.e. I would buy a Pepsi before I bought a generic soda at the same price), but no brands that I wouldn't buy anything from.

What?! Burger King fries are amaaazing! But I don't eat at fast food restaurants much, so those as a whole are something I'd have to say that I don't trust. The healthiness of them is something that makes me very nervous. They also don't have vegetarian friendly menus...

I refuse to go grocery shopping at Tesco, just gross food.

Actually now I think about it, I don't tend to trust any of the big brand names. There's nearly always a better/cheaper alternative out there; especially when it comes to technology.

I'm pretty open, and there isn't anything I dislike just from the brand name. The quality of service depends on the branch you're at, and blah. I don't let a bad experience ruin what could be a good one.

There are stores/brands/names that I prefer over others, but off the top of my head I can't think of anything I outright hate so much I'd never buy from them. I used to know a lot of the sub-companies under large tobacco corporations and would try my best to avoid them, but it's hard to remember a hundred different brand names and who owns what.

Any deli meat that's not Oscar Meyer. The was some brand I had last year...the meat was like...rubbery and chewy. It was disgusting, needless to say. I also dislike knock-off Oreos. idk you just can't be better than normal Oreos! Great Value mandarin oranges are also gross. They fancied up their peaches, but the oranges are like...they taste like the plastic container they're in, if that makes any sense. I also dislike third party gaming accessories.

I guess you could call me a name brand guy. I typically dislike anything that's not name brand, haha. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part, I better be having Oscar Meyer, Nabisco, Dole, and Nintendo. :P

On the subject of BK: they have great fries! But their pies...are to die for. <3

I'm completely on board with the whole 'Burger King fries are nasty' statement. It's one of the many reasons I go to McDonalds if forced to go to a fast-food chain of that ilk. Their fries are just sooooooo good, especially in comparison to BK. But, I digress...

Converse shoes have a tendency to fall apart (both times I've bought Converse shoes, this has happened within the space of two weeks); Windows operating systems have always found a way of crashing on me eventually (and NO, it's not because of the websites I go on, thankyouverymuch!); BEKO televisions break within a year... erm, I think that's it for brands I now don't touch with a bargepole. There are many others that I probably don't go to as much, but those three are the ones I really dislike.

Tons of stuff, most notably grocery produce and meats. Unless otherwise marked there's been genetic & chemical engineering applied to everything "fresh". Local farmer's markets are cheaper for better-quality product.

Chicken in a can, deli meat in tupperware containers.

Those off-brand items that are packaged in color & designs very similar to major brands, though that's less of a mistrust thing and more of a lazy-coattailing-useless-bums thing.

The only thing I can think of is this one brand of milk that we used to get, called "Producer's Dairy." There was like, a month or two there where every gallon we bought went bad like, three days after we bought it. :\ And they didn't even have any other brands at that time. >__< Eventually the store started stocking Sequoia brand milk, and it has lasted us much longer. xD

Oddly, we love Producer's Ice Cream. xD

To be honest, I'm not wary of any brands, just of the condition of a particular restaurant, store, or package, at least when it comes to non-technology based purchases. When it comes to food, name brands tend to be higher quality in flavor and higher quality overall, but I don't mind the store brands, because they're closing the flavor and quality gaps quite rapidly in this day and age.

I'm a bit wary on technology about certain brands, but I'm more wary of certain price ranges than anything now, since quality among the cheaper devices fluctuates quite often, while every brand's high-end devices are typically highly reliable.

I don't like RoseArt stuff, or at least didn't when I was a kid. (Don't buy art stuff now.) It was always so cheap and not great quality. And then I'd feel bad for disliking cheap stuff. :( I was always most upset with their gel pens. Granted I can never find a good gel pen from *any* company that would last as long as I'd like. It's why I don't even bother with them anymore. </3

There are probably food brands I avoid but off the top of my head I can't think of them. In general, these days I buy name brand if I can afford it, and look to off-brand depending on my mood and if it sounds like it'd be decent.

Currently, I'm more concerned about price comparisons rather than brand comparisons, in most products. Not the best way to go, but the most necessary for me.

Sometimes, I don't mind at all, though. Things like Cola VS Pepsi or Mc Donalds VS Goody's are just ruining the whole product mood. Just eat/drink and pipe down.

In Australia, we have a pizza company called Eagle Boys Pizza. One time I got food poisoning right after eating their pizza, and even though it was not their fault - but rather the fault of the undercooked chicken I'd eaten the night before - psychologically I can't make myself trust that company anymore... and I have not eaten Eagle Boys Pizza since :P

A couple of fast food places, McDonalds is one of them and I won't buy poultry from some supermarkets, only places I do is Sainsbury's and Waitrose.

taco bell.. always messing up my orders about 99% by leaving something out >_>

Nokia. I hate their phones, my sister got one and it broke on the second day >_>
And also the grocery store at the other side of the island, most of their candies are expired :x

I feel sorry for you buddy.

Food poisoning is not fun at all.

I used to like eating Spinach & Cheese Pides at those kebab take-aways, but after getting one that has tomatoes in it without me knowing, I'll never touch a pide ever again.

These days, I vie for Indian food.

Also, I never eat supermarket homebrand food cos I think they taste terrible.

My mother always buys Coles homebrand milk and that could explain why yogurt and cheese are the only ways I get dairy intake.

Such a shame that I miss out on milkshakes because of my homebrand hatred.

And TV wise, I watch the ABC a lot when it comes to Australian TV. I used to love commercial channels but since the ABC launched a 24-hour news channel and better shows, I discovered that most commercial channels in Australia play too many American shows (I'm looking at you, Big Bang Theory!) so I decide to only watch commercial channels if they are airing any shows I have interest in. If they have boring shows, expect me watching something on the ABC.
