Sorry, I Gotta Cut My Fingernails...

    They grow on your fingers everyday, and sooner or later, we decide to cut them. There your fingernails!

    Here are a few Questions:

    1)How long are your fingernails right at this moment?

    2)Do you like them long or short?

    3)How often do you cut them, and with what? (ie, clippers, scissors, etc)

    4)Have you ever chipped a nail?
     
    ...Mine are long. I need to get around to cutting them, I'm sooo lazy, but I can't deal with short nails well, so I leave them long for as long as I can (like, not normal long, TOO long.) I usually cut with clippers aaand sometimes they chip ;;
     
    This is interesting. Right now my fingernails are about 17 cm long from the nailbed. I'm getting into hand-modeling though, so they have to be a little longer than average.

    They're all snazzy and taken care of though :p
     
    Super duper short. I'm sad. But I bite my nails obsessively. So much that they end up hurting and I have to put bandaids on them so I stop for a few days. When I had braces I couldn't bite my nails, so they were always long and pretty. I like them better that way. Sometimes I'm able to stop biting them long enough for them to grow a little, but they're almost always really short. :(

    Because I'm a guy, it's not like I'd ever grow them long anyways. :P
     
    My nails are short. They kind of have to be because of my job, where I'm tearing open boxes and carrying heavy cartons. So if I keep them long, they'd get broken easily anyhow. I don't really mind though, since I do actually prefer them short. I always did.

    When it comes time to cut them, I just use nail clippers. I used to bite them, but then they'd be uneven and would get caught on fabric, which would be annoying. So I cut them with nail clippers and file them down.

    As for chipping them, quite some years ago I did try growing them out. But that was the year I decided to be outside the majority of the time cleaning up my yard, so they'd get broken easily. That's why I don't bother anymore.
     
    I'm the kind of person who likes their fingernails long. Or, at least, I was, until I started working at a pizza place. Flour will get under your fingernails in no time flat. So, typically what happens is that they grow out a bit, then I'll notice and clip them off with my nail clippers at home.

    I've cut them somewhat recently, so they're short, for the moment.

    As for chipped nails, of course it's happened. It drives me nuts, let me tell you.
     
    My fingernails are somewhat long. Mainly because I do tend to have various uses for them, so I only tend to cut them if they get too long. (usually I never let them get longer than 5mm)

    Right now they're about 3mm long so they're perfect. (not too long, not too short and perfectly useable) XD

    Pretty much nonexistent. You can't really even see the whites. They're just a thin band.

    I tend to, uhm...pick them when they get too long -.-;
    Nasty, but it's what I do.
    I can't be bothered to carry around clippers and scissors.

    Only when I wear fake nails.
    And I only wear fake nails when I want my nails to be long.
     
    I like them short. I cut them whenever I noticed. Maybe once a week, or every two weeks. For fingernails. My toenails can go for months. They take forever to grow.
     
    I bite mine for practical reasons; they break even if there is any length whatsoever to them, I can't stand the feel and imprecise nature of clippers, and them being this short (not my hand) means nothing can get under.
    I'd accept one to call it disgusting, but unhygienic? Hardly; since no dirt can actually get under them, no fungi/bacteria have a place to multiply.

    I use my teeth to open cans and the like.

     By my standards, they're pretty long at this moment, which means maybe 2 or 3 millimetres (at least I estimate it so) of white.

    Actually I don't really care about them, but I try to keep them short. Because it avoids stupid comments.

    Every two weeks or something like that. With nail scissors.

    I keep mine pretty short, barely past the edge of my finger.

    I can't stand keeping them long most of the time because they seem to get in the way when I play the piano (so like everyday) and when I do feel like letting them grow out they break easily. TT_TT
     
    I'm one of those people who constantly bite their nails. XD
     
    My fingernails are pretty short and I try to cut them as often as possible cause nothing feels more awkward than long fingernails to me. XD; I should keep them long for guitar, but I don't. :)
     
    I'm a biter. I like my nails short, but I should really get out of the habit. Its annoying though, cause it makes my fingers look like rubbish. That said, it may be the biting of the skin around them that does that.
     
    I have to have mine short for playing the piano and stuff, so I cut mine at least once a week. I can't stand the feeling of them being not-short (not even long at that point), so I keep them trimmed fairly well, and I don't bite them or anything.
