Special Privileges?

For the past month I guess, I've been noticing that the staff has been changing their names frequently and not within the required six months. At first I thought this was a joke, but now, some staff seem to be changing their names twice? None of the admin name changes are even in the Username change list. I'm just really confused...are these names going to stay or are they going to be changed again? Is the six month rule just invalid towards all staff? If it is, it just doesn't seem very fair to me... If it isn't though, isn't it against the rules, even for staff to do this?

Eh, my guess would be that since they're staff, and they can change their own name, they can do it since it won't require any extra work from anyone. For normal members to get their name changed, it requires the staff to work.

The name changes were part of something the staff was doing. We had switched genders and tried to act as a guy (if you were a girl) and a girl (if you were a guy). We were allowed to change our names for the competition, but some staff members made actual name changes at that time as well (such as Kylie-chan going to Hiyori-chan).

You could always do as Andy had done and just make a whole new account for the opposite gender if you want to. XD

It's not that. We're actually in the middle of a contest, and some of us chickened out because we assumed something like this would come up, but were convinced to come back somehow. These name changes are in no way permanent, but for the sake of our little contest.

I know it's the same process, but they don't have to bother anyone else to get it done. Atleast, the ones that have ability to change names.

Honestly, for all we do, the least you can do is let us have our contest for a little fun. We organise competitions, change your names, put up with one heck of a lot of crap from the members and then when we try to do something, we're always "above the rules" in the eyes of you people. We earned our positions, we should be allowed to have some fun with them every so often.

Some of these names are only here for a little bit, but for a lot of staff, they used this as the chance to go ahead and have their name changed.

To me, the deciding factor in whether this was right or wrong was whether we were actually hurting anyone; one of the major parts of the contest is to see who can endure the shame and awkwardness that comes from their gender being switched and their name changed to something that, under normal circumstances, none of us would ever consider changing our names to. The principle of it is perfectly rational in my opinion; I doubt any respectable member here would want their name changed to ShihenyRaqzauqaTrainr3000, for instance, given the opportunity to change their name; it negatively alters others' perception of them if they choose something so haphazard and n00bish. In the same way, none of us would, given the choice, change our name to any of the names we've selected for the moderator competition if the name change was a standard six-month change. They are done for humor and self-deprication, and, despite the fact that many members (as with many of our other good-natured jokes) don't find it funny, our motives harbor no arrogant assertations of superiority and are innocent and humorous.

I'm not talking as much so about the contest if that's what you all are thinking, but I'm talking about changing from Kurosaki>Serra>Kurosaki>Flonna and the same type of thing with Geometric who then becomes (of all things) Geometric-sama. I mean, just more that one 'name change, name change back' instance. I don't really care about the game at all really. :| You change others names so often, right?

The flat point of it is that aside from their administrative duties, staff should be considered members, and have the same rights, privalliges, and rules apply to them. Life is tough sometimes, no matter how much you hate to hear it. I don't expect others to share belief in this fact, but it should be said. I'm done now. ;3

I'm not ticked off. There might just be someone else here who is, but I said before, I'm not talking about the name changing contest thing, but the multiple name changing things. x.x I think you all were expecting this so much you were ready to defend this prior to when a thread was going to be made. In short, I just want to know why staff is changing their name more than two times, not like Chairman Kaga>Asuka Soyru> Chairman Kaga. Guys, hush. I'm not kidding, I'm really close to losing it. I'm sitting here watching everyone yap about the Staff having a little fun. This isn't about name changing, this isn't about the contest it's about someone trying to bring down the Staff over nothing. And I'm fed up with all this crap. Does anyone really know what we do for PC? I mean you guys don't have a darn clue. If it wasn't for the Staff PC would have only one layout. If it wasn't for the Staff PC would be spammy, flaming and everyone would get bashed over every little thing. If it wasn't for the Staff no one would get help when they need it. If it wasn't for the Staff none of you would have gotten a name change, Chibi wouldn't have got one, Virtual Headache wouldn't have got one, Shiney wouldn't have got one. But here you guys are yapping about the Staff having a little fun. We got to do all the work on PC where you guys sit back post and do almost nothing (I'll say some reports posts and tells a member not to break the rules but that's it). Get over it guys, get over the whole "The Staff is above the rules!!!!!!" crap, because I'm totally fed up with it. If it wasn't for the Staff you guys wouldn't have a forum to go to and complain saying the Staff are above the rules.
