Speedrun tips?

Using only one Pokémon instead of a full team because:
1) You KO everything in one hit.
2) You don't really have to make tactical considerations.
3) It doesn't ask "<trainer> is about to use <Pokémon>. Do you want to change Pokémon?" the whole time.

Furthermore, I'd say you refrain your attention for picking up items at hard to reach places unless you really need them.

I've only speed run one game, but let me take a crack.

- Turn off battle animations.
- Use set battle style.
- Set text speed to fast.
- Don't fight every wild Pokemon or trainer once you're at a certain point.
- It helps to already know the region and story you're playing through so that you know where to go after you're done in one area.
- Don't use Pokemon with annoying evolution methods (trading, certain items, friendship at certain times of the day, etc)
- No side quests.

I think that's all I got. Best of luck.

I've seen several speedruns of Generation I, so if you wanted to do that then that would probably be your best bet. You might want to watch videos on how they do that so quickly, though. Either that, maybe Generation II, or BW.

Pretty much what everyone said, but also:
- Shorten the name for faster dialogue.
- Change options (fast text speed, battle style, etc) BEFORE starting the game.
- B for every 'No'
-
- HM Slave ASAP
- If you HAVE to battle a trainer and there's no way to avoid them, talk to them instead of having them notice you, it cuts the time dramatically.
- Repels, repels, repels.
- Trade in a Pokemon and/or attach a Lucky Egg to get the boosted XP so you won't have to worry about grinding.
- Focus on storyline -- don't go out of your way to get anything unless it's needed.
- Lastly, make sure you know the storyline well. Otherwise, you may get stuck and waste time.

That's all I have. Good luck to your speed runs!~
