[PokeCommunity.com] Spriters Showcase Thread

but i supose that i can make the dp ones anyway...
I'll just use these for something else.

omg Epsilon those are amazing!
i cant find anything wrong with them ^_^

blaster, those revamps are really food to.
i would add more shading to marowaks head though.

EDIT: Why is there a poll at the top of the thread?

[PokeCommunity.com] Spriters Showcase Thread

As of late I've been trying to improve my spriting and get onto making some sheets so c+c please. XD

...
come on guys.
i kno you wanna get comments on your stuff.
but take the time to critique the person above you.
nobody is getting any feedback on there work.

Firebird306: That sprite looks pretty dang good, the hat seems a little big though.

DragonFir3: Those revamps are really good. the spoons should probably be gray or silver... not yellow.

Kingdra: Thats a cute penguin thing ^_^
just a couple things. i would round the head and wings a bit more. they look kinda square.
and its right foot (our left) looks odd.. you may wanna fix that.

as for now. i have no pixel art to show.
maybe next time =)

I was planning to recolor the spoons, but I totaly forgot about the spoons at the end. I'll edit it right away. Thx for your notification.

My first Fake Pokemon:

[PokeCommunity.com] Spriters Showcase Thread

It's a Grass starter

Now that is a brilliant scratch job. The only things I can suggest fixing up is the shading, I can hardly tell the lights from the darks. The foot to our left looks a little disproportioned and blocky, it looks as if it is twisted inwards. XD

I also noticed tiny little pixels around the sprite that shouldn't be there. Though the sprite isn't the little pixels look like the remnants of a JPEG file.

Firebird306: That sprite looks pretty dang good, the hat seems a little big though.
Thanks for the critique. I'll fix the hat up later. ^_^

That's an awesome revamp. The vine looks strange when it goes behind the wing though, as on your sprite, the vine is a lot darker at that point. The outline of the leaf seems to merge with the vine, making it look strange. Anyway, since everyone's posting revamps, I'll post two of mine I did a while ago:
"image removed"*image removed*
"image removed"*image removed*
I couldn't figure out how to shade Dragonite's left arm, though I think Mewtwo came out OK.

dragonites right arm looks a lil odd. idk why though. round it a bit more.
mewtwo looks great. but his eyes should be looking more to the left.

other than that it's good.

About Spriting...need help ^^

Hello all,
im the new guy xD
been reading alot on these forums the last few days and i saw some pretty cool hacks, which fascinated me most are those where the pokemon were replaced by custom sprites, or how you call them fakemon ^^
the point is I'd like to try spriting too :P
i dont know where to post this so i just open this thread in pixel-art ^^

Well... where do I start off lets see.
i just made a drawing of a monster and coloured it in photoshop, all i know so far is that it needs to be a .gif image is that right? and what resolution is needed to put it ingame later?
i can show you how it looks so far, maybe you can make suggestions how to make it better, that would be nice. :)
the colouring is wrong right.. it should be done pixel by pixel but i did it my way. i try to make the next one better :P

okay, well lets see. Firstly, I think you should read the guides here so you can gain an understanding as to what pixel art and spriting is, since that would certainly help.

Anyway, for 3rd generation hacking you are only allowed sprites that fit within a 64x64px box with a maximum of 16 colours used (one of which is the background).

The image you uploaded is not a sprite at all. You can't just create an image, shrink it down and ta-dah! No, pixel art is more precision based and requires the individual selection of each pixel and colour in your image. I'm sure reading the guides linked to above will assist your understanding.

But yeah, only showcase threads are permitted in this section, so this shall be merged with the spriters showcase/discussion thread, in which you can ask whatever questions you like.

merged
