    TV Tropes is to blame.

In the vast world of gaming, there are lots of people who fall into certain groups, on their attitude/playing style. But, out of all them, one stands out th most.

The kind of people who stop having fun playing video games or a certain game, and inflict that onto others.

Has this ever happened to you?

I remember when I was a kid, playing Poke Stadium at my daycare, this kid walked over and said "You suck." cue me saying "Excuse me?". I could bore you on the entire conversation, but he basically said I was one of the worse players he's ever seen, I should quit playing Pokemon.

So, we battled. 3 on 3. I chose the ones I was familiar with, he chose the best.

I chose Charizard, Articuno, and Venomoth. He chose Lapras, Zapdos, and Arcanine. I won, just barely, because I used Charizard to finish off his Arcanine who couldn't Fly. I lost Venomoth early to Lapras, but Articuno beat it and Zapdos, but Arcanine finished Articuno.

Cue him saying "You filthy cheater! Let's do this again!" I said yes, same results. He used different Pokemon, I used the same. It was hilarious, really. The look on his face was priceless, and all I was doing was having fun.

The same thing happened in Super Mario Galaxy, but that's for another time.

World of Warcraft is the worst for this! But it happens in table-top RPGs, MMOs... it's stupid. The "Stop having fun, guys" title of this is completely apt because that's what it feels like.

I think it either lies in jealously or immaturity - often both. Unfortunately it's not often you come across someone and battle them and leave with a polite 'happy gaming!' or whatever.

The annoying individuals are also the ones to go around shouting 'nooooob' at people XD.

    Happy gaming all ;).

Yes indeed, happy gaming. As that's the feeling you should be having at the end of your session, or during it. Happy.

Don't let someone stop you from having fun. If you enjoy the game, who cares if you suck. You're not playing for money or for fame. You're supposed to have fun.

I am awful at the Mortal Kombat games dating back to the first one all the way up to newer ones like MK VS DC. I can't get combos, forget the moves list and just frantically tap buttons but I don't care because I'm still having fun. When my friends play with me it's always some contest and I just want to have fun, not have some serious battle.

Not really. If someone says I suck, I couldn't care less what they think.
That is their opinion, and I don't want to play the game none stop and let it engulf my life like those people, who do nothing better.

Gaming is a hobby for me and maybe a career path, depending what I want to do with my degree in the next few years.

But, back on topic. Don't care what they say. No one will defer me from playing the games I want due to their opinion.

My cousin tried to tell me I was afraid to lose to his SUPER GREAT team of starters on level 100. I scared him when I told him about my level 52 Umbreon that beat half of someone's team once. Plus I didn't have a team EV'd and prepared to slaughter him. Hee hee. ARCEUS the Rattata would have obliterated him anyway. v_v

Then I have one friend who wouldn't let me win in SSBM. She would get mad and turn off the console and hit me. :| She'd get mad if I attacked her in the game, but NO it was fine to attack me. v_v

Edit: Wanna add that I hate sore winners as much as sore losers. If I win, I'm not gunna brag and be an ass about it. When me and my brother battled, I really encouraged him even when he lost, and he takes it well. He's not all weird and sad about it. I'd rather lose to a respectable person than an *******, basically. HATE sore winners, they're about as bad as sore losers, if not worse.

Fighting games. You see, I'm a one trick Pony. Either I punch my enemy to death or kick them to death, or randomly push the button and hope that I score a combo.

My cousin and I used to play against each other in videogames. Especially fighting games, and yes, I always lose to him. he'd say 'I suck' and I'd say 'I let you win' and another rematch, with the result the same. I'd tell him the controller is broken and he'd mock me. :(

That happened in Tekken, Street Fighter, Capcom vs. Marvel, DOTA and WOW.

I won at Red Alert, though. Maybe because it's a strategic game.

Well, personally, because it seems I suck at it, Mega Man 3 is a game I'm not having fun with so much as wanting to beat for the victory. It's not that anyone told me I sucked at it, it's just that surviving to reach a boss's room for the first time only to die in literally 2 hits is.....angering to say the least.

My younger Brother and I compete in Pokemon in battling and contests but we also help each other fill out the Pokedex by breeding pokemon for each other and trading and such. We one took our best guys and battled and I beat him easily, he accepted his loss valiantly and a few days later challenged me again and beat me. I being the older brother and role model he looks up to wasn't angry about losing to my younger brother, I was proud of him. We are competitive but we don't take it too seriously and aren't sore winners or losers (although we do hurl insults jokingly at each other depending on who won or lost).

This tends to be the problem with competitive battlers and casual battlers in Pokemon. One always hurl insults at one and the other and it never stops. I let it be, TBH. Both sides are having fun in their own ways, and if they don't like it, most of them has friends who think the same, online or offline.
    I just find it silly.

Sometimes I rub it into my brother if I beat him, but only because he does seem to take games quite seriously, and like is sore winner... Whenever I win, I do imitations of him and he knows it and hates it. :D

But yeah, I play only for fun and never really get like serious about a game. This same brother swears a lot playing Call of Duty and stuff. I never get angry at video games because they are fun, and dying/losing is just part of it!

I've seen that article...those people are annoying. My cousins are a really good example of this: They loved to brag about their achievements in Guitar Hero (i.e. I can get a perfect score on xxx song on hard) and then they would try to do it to impress. So when they messed up they stopped the song and restarted (in multiplayer!).
Most of us were just having fun, I was messing up tons of notes on medium (i'm bad) and then they ruin everyone's fun to show off...
