Suggestion; VDome

But those things are talked about in the OC forum. Maybe not recently, but it does happen more often then you think. These threads do devolve into people screaming at each other, but the point is, they still happen. It would indeed still be another OC forum. There were interesting debatable topics, but I guess they don't seem to want to post in them currently.

If I wanted to, I could indeed find out what's happening in the world, something of value, and post a thread in OC for debate without getting in trouble. If I wanted to, I could post about things from the past for debate, and not get in trouble. If I wanted to, I could post something about politics, but that's been covered before. Just because the whole forum isn't serious, doesn't mean it can't get serious. If I couldn't do those things there, then I would support this, but I can.

Even if the topic is derailed, I can still do this stuff, it is still basically the new T-Dome.

I meant serious topic debates. Politics, World Events, History, ect. Not just the garden variety type things that OC now houses, but more detailed and interesting debatable topics as a whole.

That just makes it even more pointless. It's just essentially an OC with more lenient rules. OC can have all those topics. OC does once in a blue moon. It just doesn't work out like it should because the mass amount of close minded fools who take part in the debates posted.
 
It is because of the amount of closed minded fools, that we are forced to let these discussions be held elsewhere, since putting them in OC inherently turns these sorts of topics into ticking time bombs.
 
Maybe they do turn into ticking time bombs, but would it really be any different here? Again, it goes back to my 'humans are stubborn' thing. Even if there is less people, there is still a wide range of opinions and personalities that could derail the thread. Especially with laxed rules, it just wouldn't work out. Maybe for the first couple of months, like the Reputation system, but it would eventually get out of control.
 
That's the entire point. We need something in here that makes supporters want to come in here. We need some reason to get the word out to all the supporters, something to hold their attention and help prevent this section from rotting. x3
 
The problem won't be permanent, and if attention is drawn to the VIP section in general, people will be inclined to get creative, and make this section into something exciting once the VDome gets abolished. (I honestly doubt it would be abolished but in the case that it is, there still would be people who'd get ideas to make this a better section in general)
 
Sounds kind of like an accident waiting to happen, imo. :[

It does hold true that, all good things must come to an end, but we cannot let one bad experience limit our options so strongly that they're improbable.

We must try a small scale version because it will work if there are proper procedures in place to prevent the past incident.
 
And then I wonder: if you guys truly feel such a need to keep debates about politics and stuff... why don't you guys post these in OC so everybody can take part in them? And if you want to keep them just for yourselves... why don't you post them here already?

I don't know, I honestly think that not letting people talk about the UK elections (example) because a) they haven't donated enough or b) they aren't 16 yet is kind of missing the point... because the idea of having debate threads only makes sense if we can get a good variety of opinions, and not just the ones from people that meet some arbitrary requirements.

But, once again, if you feel that a thread about the new Arkansas Immigration Law is going to be more active in a supporter-only forum, by all means, go ahead and try it. The result can't be worse than in OC.
 
I don't agree on this.

It is rubbish for people to have to pay to have a decent discussion on a forum. Don't forget, this is a Pokemon forum. Last time I checked, most people didn't want mature discussion.

If you want an adult discussion, go to a different forum and chat there.

Personally, I think it is a rubbish idea and will never be passed.
