If you haven't heard/seen, the visuals for the Attack on Titan live films was released in November last year.

Visuals of the cast have also been released (I wasn't sure if that's it or if there's any more coming)

    Spoiler:

Seen a lot of hate going on for it especially since "Mikasa should be the only asian" when the whole cast is, Armin doesn't have blond hair, Hanji is Hans and is carrying a bazooka, and instead of a Levi, more OCs are there. I've seen a lot of people complain that these movies are just going to be the new Dragonball Evolution and The Last Avatar adaptations and SnK is going to go down the drain like those to did.

I personally am incredibly excited for these movies and have a lot of hope for them. Although I've watched SnK, I'm not much of a big fan of it like some people are. I did enjoy the series, but it wasn't really big for me.

Like a few people, I'm actually really excited of this because of the actors involved. I really liked how the producer and creator did not cast the characters for their looks and more on their acting ability:

Nevertheless, live-action Attack on Titan producer Yoshihiro Sato explained that the production team "didn't concern ourselves at all with whether or not the actors looked like their manga counterparts." Instead, after several talks with series creator Hajime Isayama, Sato "carried out casting on the basis of whether or not the actors could embody the spirit of Isayama's originals

Mostly excited because Haruma Miura (Eren) since he did the live actions for Kimi ni Todoke, Koizora, Gokusen 3 and Bloody Monday. I really can see him playing Eren just from his performance in Gokusen.
Even more excited for Hongo Kanata (Armin) who did the live actions of Prince of Tennis, both GANTZ and Nana movies and Mirai Nikki -Another: World-.

The main writer working with the creator of SnK, Watanabe Yusuke wrote not only for the GANTZ movies but, Mirai Nikki - Another : World-, Bloody Monday, Nobuta wo produce and Tantei gakuen Q which are some of my favourite jdramas so I'm really excited for what he has up his sleeve for SnK.

So yeah, what do you think of the upcoming Attack on Titan live action movies?

I'm really looking forward to it, but that's more of my j-drama/live action loving side than my anime side lol

    Hmmmmmmmm.

I'll watch it, not sure I'll enjoy a live action depiction of it - but hey, it'll be entertaining just as a movie. Curious how they'll change the story too - because you know they're going to do that to at least some small degree.

A lot of those actors and actresses haven't really appeared in anything other than manga adaptations. Not exactly the best class of acting talent in my experience.

This sounds terrible. This is the kind of thing that I hate about a good series that becomes very popular.

Well, it can't be much worse than the series was...although I have yet to watch a live-action version of an anime that I've actually liked, so the chances of me liking this, when it's based off a series that bored me to tears most of the time, is even more unlikely. The special effects might make it worth looking into, though! The gore might be entertaining as well, after a fashion.

...but yeah, this was never on my radar, and I have no inclination to get excited for it. Might download the soundtrack, though. If nothing else - and there really was nothing else, in my opinion - Attack on Titan has pretty fantastic OST.

The chances are the gore is going to be water down in the live.
They watered down GANTZ and that was pretty gore-ish. Although I watched the live of it first, I know the main character of GANTZ was extremely perverted and they toned that down as well.

I'm worried about the director and visual effects since I can't really see anything big that Higuchi Shinji and Onoue Katsuro have done :s

Well unlike many on here, I did like the anime and read the manga to catch up every few week. The movie doesn't really excite me because most anime to real life movies don't do well imo.

As much as I love Attack On Titan, I will not see this.

Live-action adaptations of most anime tend to be really cringe-worthy.

Surprised to see some Attack on Titan hate.
I love the anime and the manga has its moments. Though it bothers me that all the blonde characters aren't even blonde in this adaptation. At least try to look like the character you're going to act as. I won't be watching this movie though.

I always thought it was really wel received. Is there a lot of hate for it?

Personal opinion, but I think the hate for SnK isn't as big and noticeable as the hate that somethings like Sword Art Online got. The vibe I got for SAO was more of a 50/50 where people either hate it or love it. Maybe it's just me, but I find that there are more fans spreading the love of SnK than haters showing the hate so it doesn't show as much, but there are still quite a large number of haters out there.

Even Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino isn't quite fond of SnK either.

I don't have any expectations. I'll watch it cuz why not lmao. Special effects should be nice. But yeah, the series doesn't seem like it'll work out nicely or anything in the live-action format. But who knows. :p

    Before anime started.

Isn't as big as SAO because hating SAO was mainstream, Eotenas hate isn't big but is deep =D
