The reason why the Confederate flag is considered racist is because over 500 racist hate groups use it as their symbol.

Because it would be easier recognized than the Neo Nazi flag of Germany. It's the most well known flag with a dark past and people use that against it. There are so many flags that show hate, but very few of them are well known.

Intent or not, ALL flags carry a bloody past. No country has won freedom without some form of war or death. America is no better, not all people who wave out the confed flag mean it to have the meaning of racism and such. Only the few who can't let go of the past, mainly the elders who are still stuck up in their ways of hate. There's having pride in being from the South and just being blind. Most that do wave the flag around are just doing it for pride and have no intent of saying that they represent hate and that people of a skin color should any better or worse than another.

I know people that do dislike the past that the Confederate Flag has. Though they still wear it. It is their past. I know there are other people that don't but to just hate the Flag is misplaced. Realy it is the people that does not take note to what happened.

This is true, but the Civil War is still a messy issue in some parts of the country. There's just an image that goes with the flag that a lot of people can't get out of their mind. It's just an issue whose controversy differs from person to person...since I used to read up on the Civil War I guess I just feel this certain way about it x_x

Well, I'm a total outsider, and I honestly don't have much of an idea what we're talking about here. I think people have the right to show symbolism however they want, as long as they aren't expressing it in an extreme way or in a way that could cause harm to another. For example, in this case, I think displaying that flag would be fine... just so long as they mean it as a way to show pride in their heritage rather as a cry to go back to the way it was. It's not always easy to tell the way something is meant to be taken, but displaying that flag is part of everyone's right to free speech, is it not? o_O;

Meh, I've no idea what I'm talking about. I think I'm just weirded out to see intelligent discussion in the DCC. <<;

Well, I did mean the fact that a discussion about flags, symbolism, and their ties to both positibity and negativity was slightly more intellectual than "OMG I JUST ATE BREAKFAST HOW r U GUYS LOL!!" o.o;

That's fine and all, but when people look at the current PC like it's rot, that's really annoying. People back then probably talked about the same thing, they're just not feeling it anymore because most old members are gone.

It's all up to everyone's opinion, though. ^^; I think everyone likes PC best around the time they joined... because it was the forum they remember that MADE them join. I... say that was its golden age, but I also really enjoy PC now, last year... the year before that... it goes on. oO; There is no true "best time" of PC since it's different for each individual member. No one can claim it was better at one point than another because that's simply not true of everyone. XP

I said that? :\ It was okay, what I really liked was when PE2K was around. After I joined the fun did revive a little because of fun members but died within another half a year. =(

Edit: Lightning, kind of, because of their own creativity and initial enthusiasm, but I don't like mine best, for a couple reasons.

Well as any thing changes people will feel different about it.
It is just life and how things are.
I might feel that way after staying here for a long time or not. I like to see how a board, place, ect changes.
