SMD POLL 6 - CONNECTION TO MAIN SERIES?

Hello, and welcome to another Weekly Mystery Dungeon Poll! An upcoming game for 3DS is Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. In it, we're able to play from around 20 selectable characters. The game is set to release throughout end of this month in Japan and United States, but to help hype for its release, we're going to try sneaking as many polls as possible within the timeframe and have some discussion on Mystery Dungeon!

In what way do we feel Mystery Dungeon is connected to main series?
I don't think it's connected to the main series at all, other than the fact that both series have Pokemon in them. PMD seems to take place in a different "world" of sorts from the main series where there's no humans.

Should Mystery Dungeon series be tied more to main titles?
I don't think it needs to be. The way it is right now is fine. I suppose one interesting way they could connect it to the main series a bit would be if the main character made reference to what region and town/city he's from in the real world.

In what way do we feel Mystery Dungeon is connected to main series?

I don't really feel any connection that Mystery Dungeon has to the main series games. The dynamics and storylines of each seem to differ so much, in MD you're a human who has turned into a Pokemon apprehending outlaws and completing missions. In the main series game you're playing as a protagonist collecting gym badges, a whole different concept to any of the spin off games.

Should Mystery Dungeon series be tied more to main titles?

I think Mystery Dungeon being segregated from the main titles is actually beneficial, it gives the game a unique feel rather than feeling like a cheap copy of the main series imo.

Well, it has pokémon in it, and that's about it.
Should Mystery Dungeon series be tied more to main titles?
Nah, it's fine that Mystery Dungeon does its own thing. It makes it feel more different from the main series rather than just being the same exact thing.

In what way do we feel Mystery Dungeon is connected to main series?
I doubt there's much of a link between SMD and the main series, none of the Mystery Dungeon games have made a noticeable connection yet.

Should Mystery Dungeon series be tied more to main titles?
Not at all! I love how they're their own games and not a direct spin-off from the man series. It's a really nice change that does perfectly well without any connection to the main games :)

In what way do we feel Mystery Dungeon is connected to main series?
The only few connection it has to the core series are the Pokemon and some items. I love the references such Coronet Rock (for Mt. Coronet), Beauty Scarf (for maximum Beauty stat), Link Cable, Lunar Ribbon (for night hour) and Sun Ribbon (for daytime).
Should Mystery Dungeon series be tied more to main titles?
I prefer the series to be a standalone rather than being tied to the core series. This is one of the elements that makes PMD special. :)
