Has anyone ever thrown you a surprise party or have you ever thrown anyone a surprise party? Were you/they actually surprised? Did they/you go to extreme efforts to keep it a surprise? What was it like/was it themed/did you enjoy it? Would you ever throw someone a surprise party again/would you ever want someone to throw you a surprise party again?

If you haven't had a surprise party is there a certain reason why and have you ever wanted one?

Nobody has ever thrown me a surprise party, and I am incredibly thankful for that. I can't stand surprises. My Dad has thrown my Mum two surprise parties - her 40th and her 50th - and she absolutely hated them both. Not because the parties themselves were bad, but because she's like me and hates surprises too lol.

I have planned one though - for my friend's mother's 40th last year. She is an amazingly happy and outgoing woman so it was right up her alley, and being an integral part of something that in the end meant so much to her was really awesome.

I think for surprise parties, you really have to be the right kind of person. It can go either way.

This thread's bringing up bad memories.
I was thrown a surprise party once when I was 18, but I caught wind of it early, and since i'm stubborn about not being in on/knowing things I tried my best not to act surprised or happy about it.
You could probably imagine I never got a surprise party after that.

I feel like an ass because of it, but oh well. D:

I don't think I've ever had a surprise party thrown for me... but that's probably because when I was a lot younger I used to tell everyone that I hated surprises. I've grown a lot more lenient as I've gotten older, but I imagine my vociferous refusals to avoid surprises when I was younger have left a mark on my friends and family.

I love surprises but no one's ever thrown me a surprise party. :( No one other than my mom has really thrown me a party in general, so lol. I've actually never even been a part of one, I think my group of friends is just lazy and planning that far ahead is too much work for us.

I've never been thrown a surprise party but for my 17th Birthday, I was invited to spend the day round one of my friend's houses. There was around 7 people in total and we played some video games and poker lol. The surprise was that they gave me a katana which currently rests in my room on a ledge. Most awesome present EVER!

I would hate a surprise party. I generally hate surprises and people hiding things from me/secrets so no. I wouldnt throw one for anyone else either.

Man I don't think I've had a proper planned birthday party at all. Typically I just go out to dinner. Surprise party? Ha! I don't have friends that'd do it. :( I guess I wouldn't mind one but if I never get one, no big deal.

Not really. I'm still at that age where people around me will be sure to fuss about things like my birthday. Even so, I always make sure my parents and friends know about my birthday and make sure we do something. Though, I can't think of any surprise parties for anything else though.

There are those cheesy things I've done to surprise people, like a present for my mum even if there isn't anything special going on.

I've never had a surprise party thrown for me before but I love surprises soooo *cough*

I've been to a couple of surprise birthday parties for friends. One was a surprise party for a friend whose birthday was actually six months before, so it really was a surprise for him. XD Another surprise party for a friend started when said friend went into the kitchen (where we were all hiding) to get some food and when she turned on the lights we all screamed "SURPRISE" and one of our other friends chased her out of the kitchen with the birthday cake in his hands. I love my friends. :'D

I've never been thrown a surprise party, mainly because everyone is just starting school around my birthday so it's hard to get people together when we're all 2+ hours away from each other.

HOWEVER! My friends have surprised me in general by coming down to the city in meeting me outside my apartment building without telling me they were going to visit. They've also met me outside of my work :) I don't mind surprises, I think they're fun.

I have never had a surprise party before :( Nor have I ever organized one for anybody, iirc. Sad though. A surprise party would be nice and would definitely get me all excited lol.

The only time I ever get a party is when it's my birthday, and most of the time I didn't get parties. Growing up, birthdays were usually just me and my family and maybe a few really close friends for a few years. I pretty much expect it whether or not I know it's going to happen, so it's not much of a surprise. But I haven't had a birthday party since I was like 14 years old. I've never planned a surprise party for anyone else, though.

I never had a surprise party, but did threw a surprise party for a friend once. A girl I knew set up a secret event for it on Facebook and planned it all out. Unfortunately he knew it was happened since I found the event while on a second account that the girl didn't know of. He was still pretty surprised though.
