Someone else probably said it first...all my best thoughts were stolen by the ancients.

Speaking of politics, The Presidential Elections are up here in our country, and everyone, AND I MEAN EVERYONE who i know is triggered as F**K even before the actual voting procedures. Reading my Facecock (which I'll be calling said so-cal Media from now on) feed made me play Brutal Doom every single day because of it.

It's too early in the morning for me to be talking about politics...but I'll keep an eye out for Cameron's speech today on the BBC News website or something.

I expect, one way or the other, we'll be sick to death of hearing about it by the end of June. Which is good, because it's about time they started talking about it properly instead of scare mongering.

Boris Johnson will be making a speech later as well, apparently. I'm sure that will be both eloquent and insightful.

Hope BoJo doesn't end calling Dave "half-Kenyan" too.

We are having a repeat election on June since last December's returned a hung parliament and nobody managed to pass a confidence vote, since the Liberals were too few to build a majority with anybody and the Socialists didn't want to negotiate with the leftists, instead hoping they'd simply gift them their votes in exchange for nothing. Bets that the new results won't be too different- except the leftists might won a dozen marginal seats and leave the Socialists as the junior party in a historical humilliation. That I want to see.

Well, neither of them are particularly persuasive, but Boris is more prone to colorful hyperbole and straw man statements than Cameron is; a good public speaker, he is not. I agree with him that we should get more out of it than we do, but at the moment I think renegotiation would be the better choice...which we can't do if we outright leave. It also does feel like the Leave party don't have a plan right now. Or if they do, they're not sharing it. Hmm.

I'm seeing more arguments in favour than against right now...although I still think the EU bleeds us dry and doesn't give us anywhere near enough in return, and I don't like the idea of wages for British workers being driven down by immigration...even if immigration is generally good for the economy and immigrants from the EU put in more than they take out. But that can all be worked on if we stay in; Cameron hasn't really delivered everything he promised, but things HAVE improved from what I can see. We'd still have to contribute to the EU budget to retain access to the market anyway, so it doesn't look like asserting our independence from the EU would really gain us all that much.

...and I dunno if we should be discussing serious issues like politics in a playground thread. I dunno if I should be discussing them at all just yet regardless; I'm still researching it all since I've got to vote on it. xD

I quite like these threads, they move quickly and give me something to do in between posting in other threads. Although I was told specifically to post in these when I was pointed in the direction of the playground. xD
