23 years in jail is a lot, you know. Besides, I doubt his mother would want her son killed because he was drawn so much into gaming, as the article said; "The court heard the teenager was so obsessed by fictional violence in video games that he may have believed death was not real." that he went over the top.

As for the thread, what he did was disgusting. That's really all I have to say, since, like TS, I'm speechless. This is just.. ugh, terrible. :[
 
I think I heard something about this back when it happened in 2007.

I am still a bit shocked that someone can do such a thing over a game, even if they had an addiction over it. D:

That's amazing and gruesome at the same time. I can't believe someone would actually kill their mother over something so trivial. And was he really that obsessed with video games to believe that death wasn't real? I find that hard to believe.
 
I agree that he either deserved the death penalty or, if that bull Guillermo said was true, to go to an insane asylum because he believes death isn't real.

That poor mother was just doing what mothers are supposed to do. And this teen is giving other teens a bad name. It's no wonder adults hate us so much. Freaking dumbass kid.​
 
This is exactly why video games get the bad rap that they already get. This is exactly why parents need to be held more responsible for theses kinds of actions.

To be honest, I'm pretty damn sure all that stuff his dad said about not know what he did or that the kid is remorseful about shooting his mom. It's all ********. His dad just didn't want to see his son go to jail for whatever reason that is beyond me; still in shock, he's religious, something.

The kind knew what he was doing. He's seventeen ****ing years old for crying out loud. Public school, hell any school theses days, teaches kids all kinds of stuff, and claiming that he didn't think death was real is just absurd, beyond really. To believe anything that came from his mouth like that is just stupid.

The kind has a problem, but it's not that he was addicted. It was the fact that his parents LET him get addicted. LET him play that game for 18 hours day. Again, this falls back on the parents. Sure the kid takes some of the blame, but had the parents been there more often, understood and SEEN that playing a game 18 hours a day is unhealthy, this might have been avoided.

This is the kind of stuff that pisses me. It's bad parenting, that's the bottom line. Had they nipped this in the butt from the get go, none of it would have happened. But you know, that's the way the world is these days. You can't do anything to kids anymore for fear of being called a bad parent for beating your kids, for over disciplining them. Well it goes both ways. Sure it's hard to find the balance, but the good parents are the ones that at least try.

I'm done ranting. The kid deserves every year, definitely more.

This is the reason why some of the children's parent doesn't want to buy them a GBA, NDS or PSP. Because they are getting addicted to it. And it's like their going crazy o_o.
And as what as Soari said. He really deserve it because he killed his own Mother. * sad *. And by the way. It's just the game. Maybe his Mother is just curious for his son to become CRAZY in GAMES :3.

There's also a case where a Kid Hangs himself because his... Teacher took his video game... I think it's Pokemon... Seriously... I've read it, but I forgot the source...

Your right. Video Game is not important. Life is much important. And killing your own Mom? I LOVE MY MOM. BEcause she is the one suffered from giving me birth.

This is such a depressing thing to hear, but it really is not surprising to me. May I remind you of the Columbine shooters, Virginia Tech shooter, and a whole plethora of other shootings that the shooters were trained on video games because the believed death was the only solution?

This is very bad to hear though because this young man was addicted to video games. I think that he should be given some additional mental help as well as his 23 years. And while he is in jail, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get that help. However, I think taking him away from video games for 23 years will do wonders.

That is the difference between you/all of us and him though.
We know the difference between a petty argument and a argument that ends up in killing someone.

I actually agree with Guillermo, no matter how screwed up someone is, there is a very small percentage that someone would do that. He will have some sort of anger issue.
 
Yeah... I've heard of many Anger Issues before in different cases... But not like this... This is worst... I mean...

And how exactly did he get a gun, BTW?
