I'm not all that shocked, I mean it's pretty bad and stupid, but worse things have happened.
Because there are SO many worse things in the world than murdering the prime source of nourishment and one of the prime beings that raised you.
Think of something that's worse than intentionally killing a loved one over something as stupid as a video game being taken away at the age of 17 and get back to me.
That's what just gets me angry.
How can a father protect his own son who had just tried to kill him and succeded in killing his wife? If my son had done that, I would have just left him.
Anyways killing someone over a video game is a little to the extreme. I've heard of people crying and stuff, but this is just over the top. Personally, I believe he deserves the death penalty or atleast send him to a mental institution for help.
I know! Seriously! I would never defend anyone -- be it a son of mine, my brother, or some other person I cared about -- who killed my wife claiming that they thought death wasn't real, despite being on this earth for seventeen years and having time prior to becoming obsessed with a video game to think that death wasn't real.
I think that's perhaps the dumbest excuse I've heard in a trial after watching some crazy trials in the past. Honestly, put him in jail for good.
I think there is a connection in the game. As what i have researched in the Wikipedia:
Wikipedia:
Halo 3 is a
first-person shooter video game developed by
Bungie exclusively for the
Xbox 360.
My Answer:
Read the word "first-person shooter". I think he was addicted in shooting some enemies in the game. So when he become angry i think he shoot his mother by accident? Because of anger..And yes. It would really affect the game. Especially the Company. There would be issues about this.

By accident? You think picking up a gun and shooting someone with an intention is an accident? It isn't like he slipped for pulling the trigger and the bullet penetrated her on a limb. It was aimed at her head. Last I checked, pointing a gun at someone's head due to being enraged with not being able to play their precious game is far from accidental.
He is 17..... spooky and Halo is not violent. xD
This post makes me lol. How is killing something, even if it's fictional, not violent? Common sense would tell you anything that involves a gun, even if it's a fictional game, involves a sense of violent activity. Saying that Halo isn't a violent game implies that you know little to nothing of the seriousness of killing something even if it's in a game.
