Tears were still flowing from my eyes. I was partly still in shock form the pain I had caused Saphira, partly in shock because of what the boy had done, and I was also cruying tears of joy. Saphira was healed, and from, what I could see she didn;t feel pain anymore, this was greater than anythign I could have imagined. Not to mention I had driven Blackwolf away. This gave me great joy.

"Do you require healing?" I asked of the others. They didn't seem to be near death, but... Omega growled and said, "Let us disperse this loathsome beast and be done." I sighed and nodded, agreeing with him. I said under my breath as I joined him, "You would do well to learn compassion, brother." Upon reaching Chaos, we raised our arms, the beams of light and dark intertwining to force him away, imprisoning him, mind, soul, and body.

I turned and said, "Regrettably, Chaos cannot truly be destroyed, only imprisoned, thwarted. His life is tied to that of the one who created us. As long as one lives, the other cannot die, no matter how they loathe each other."

I watched and listened to the two of them, and finally I mumbled. "You... You, can't possibly kill him?" I asked. This troubled me. Until he was dead I wasn't safe, and neither was Saphi. "Who created you anyway?" I asked my curiosity getting the best of me, "And how is a person created?"

"The three of us." I tapped my chest, pointed to Omega, and continued, "Myself, my broher, and Chaos are from a seperate dimension, parallel to yours but... different. There, the reigning power is a being, immensely powerful, known as The Author. He... created us, dreamt us into being." I smiled somewhat apologetically, saying, "It is rather hard to explain to one who is not familiar with the laws of my home." Omega glowered at me for revealing such secrets, though he said, "If you're going to say it, tell the whole story."

I sighed and said, "I was getting to that, Omega. That is how Chaos is different from us, The Author did not willingly, or even knowingly, create him. You see, our lord and mast is everything Chaos is not. Kind, compassionate, loving and friendly. Evil and sadism do not exist in him. They were forced into his shadow self, a twisted duplicate of who he is. Chaos. That is why they cannot be killed, they depend on each other to be truly whole. No being is pure good or pure evil, they must have a spark of the other. They created each other."

With a loud crash, Sheol Devil's orange body slammed into the ground after a titanic leap. Devil's bulk slid off of his body, like melting snow, to release the human Sheol from inside.

Sheol sat on his knees within the puddle of the satanic sludge. The ooze swiftly evaporated away, leaving Sheol alone on the beach. Sheol stood up and walked toward the Titan tower, hoping to fid that his allies were still alive.

All this time, Cassie had been fighting Chaos's control over her, forcing herself to stay where she was instead of bend to his will. But suddenly and abruptly, she felt his hold loosen and evaporate, like chains being undone. Just to make sure it was real, she mentally asked her hand to flex her fingers, to run them through her hair. It did. She breathed a sigh of relief. She was free to control her own mind and body again. She looked over at Chaos, shivering as she saw him where he was, pinned against the wall. The manacles containing him looked fragile enough to be made out of air itself... She brushed the thoughts away, forcing herself not to think about what would happen if the manacles's strength didn't hold.

"Thank you," she said gratefully, turning to the two men who had appeared. "We owe you our lives, and more." She pondered what they had said, turning it over in her mind. "Does this mean that Chaos can never be destroyed?" she asked. It was what she had feared. She felt all her hopes rush out of her like quicksand. It seemed they would never be free of the beast, as the two brothers had so rightly called him. With this gloomy thought hanging over her, she slumped against the wall, staring down at the grimy floor.

I was dumbstruck. I understood was he said, but yet it made no sence. Alternate dimesions... They really existed? This did explain why Chaos was as he was. "Why is Chaos here?" I asked them. "Why did he not stay in his own **** dimension?" I questioned. I pondered these thoughts and more, and then wondered why Saphira had remained quiet for so long, it wasn't like her to stay quiet.

"That question is much simpler to answer." I replied, before Omega growled and said, "I'm going home. If you need me, call." I smiled softly and said, "Please forgive my brother. He is not exactly... compassionate." Then, I continued, gesturing to the other girl, "That device that you wear is a cour'sourva, a soul manacle. Not Chaos's own creation, something that the Author created to control him. Chaos escaped to another dimension, and then broke its hold as he did so. Omega and I have been pursuing him since"

I then shivered, my memories growing stronger. I said in a whisper, desperate and pleading, "The things we have seen... I wish I could have deadened myself as did my brother." shivering again, I continued, "You think what you have gone through is terrible... You have no idea, this, this is kindness by his standards. He had an entire city kill itself through self-mutilation, people cutting themselves again and again, or battering their heads against walls. He..." I broke off, falling to my knees and vomiting. Shakily, I finished, "I... I can't go on. It's too horrific."

"That's... that is terrible," said Cassie quietly, shivering. The room seemed to have become much quieter. Cassie's imagination ran horrifically wild with the idea of Chaos making a city kill itself off. Her mind filled with the sounds of people sobbing, the sight of people cutting into themselves constantly with knives, the screams of thousands... She couldn't bear even the thought. She clutched the soul manacle around her neck convulsively, unable to say any more. Just keeping herself upright was suddenly extremely difficult to do.

With a shaky, yet kind, soft smile, I stood and walked over to the other girl, the one I had not heald. Bending down, I removed the terrible device from her neck and crushed it in my palm. I said gently, "No more. See?" I held out the mangled object for her to see.

"Th-thank you," said Cassie shakily, the horrid image still burned into her mind. She tried to stop her imaginings by closing her eyes, but that only made them seem clearer. "Out of curiosity, if... if that manacle was meant to contain Chaos, how did he turn it into a weapon?" In truth, she was asking more to distract herself from the other thing on her mind than to find out the answer. It had just been the first question she could think of to keep herself occupied, though she certainly had more pressing ones.

Saphira watched them all quietly, staying in the back. The conversation seemed to float around her, and she couldn't seem to grasp what everyone was saying. Chaos's creator... Chaos being contained... Omega leaving.... Alpha explaining something.... Cassie suddenly being able to control her own actions....

"He had an entire city kill itself through self-mutilation..."

Saphira shuddered. She had cut herself as well, just before Chaos had enslaved her mind. Though the scars were no longer there, both the ones she made and the ones Chaos had added, every word Alpha spoke seemed to make her skin burn. And that wasn't the worst of it. If what Chaos had done to her had been considered kindness, Saphira didn't dare thinking about what happened to anyone else.

"That, I guess, is some of the worst of it." I replied, eyes still hollow. My dreams would be far from restful this eve. I continued, though, saying, "Never make the mistake of assuming Chaos is a brute, easily manipulated and fooled. He is not, I am sure that at least one here can attest to that. he is cruel, sadistic, vile, insane, but what makes all of that worse, he is intelligent. Very intelligent. He can contain himself if need be, he knows how to pass as a normal person. He understands the way the human mind functions, what can break it, just how far to push a person before they will descend into insanity. He can torture you until you are just barely clinging to life, where one more blow would kill you, and then he will stop, leaving you to recover. He can extract your worst fears without invading you mind. He's subtle in his tactics when need be. Never. think. He. Is. Stupid."

Everything Alpha said matched perfectly with what Saphira had experienced. She looked up and saw Jasper watching her, obviously worried. She smiled softly, but her smile was empty, fake. "I'm okay," Saphira said quietly to him, lying. She was far from okay.

"So what are we to do?" she inquired, jumping back into the conversation. If Saphira didn't speak soon, Jasper might become suspicious. "We can't leave something like him here, can we? Isn't there a way to send him back to his own dimension?" Though she tried to mask her discomfort, Jasper didn't seemed fooled.

"My brother and I have already trapped him in a dimensional void, a place between dimensions. Far harder for him to escape from." I said kindly, smiling and clasping my hands. A facade, hiding my own strife. Ruled by a compassion as deep-seated as that of my creator, I could not stand this violence, this horror that Chaos created. I continued, though, "I doubt any of you will see him again in this life. Yet I don't think your troubles are done with yet."

"What do you mean?" asked Cassie. She was relieved to hear that Chaos would not be escaping any time soon, but what if there were even worse dangers ahead? She wondered if Alpha noticed the forced calm in her voice, the way it trembled slightly. She hoped he didn't. She didn't want him to think her a coward. By some miracle, she still had her foolish pride, and she clung to it. "What is it now?" she repeated, sounding much less worried about the answer than she really felt.

I kept my eye on Saphira, she assured me she was fine, she wasn't. I knew this. I could see through her, I knew her too well. Or at least I thought I did, maybe I was wrong, but yet no, I senced that she wasn't ok, I knew that she was troubled, and I wanted to know how. "Alpha... was it?" I asked the boy. "Are you like Chaos, could you read my mind now, could you tell what I was thinking deep within my private thoughts?" I didn't know exactly why I asked this, it was just askd through me almost, it was strange.

((Ooc)) *sing-songy, carefree voice* Oh, Jaaaa-Heeeeead!! Clean out your iiiiiinbooooox!!!

Saphira could hear what Jasper was asking. Instantly, the walls around her mind went up, out of habit. He doesn't need to be trouble by my burden... She thought, trying to block the memories of two years ago away. He almost died for me just now. I can't force something like this on him. She repeated that over and over again, the walls growing stronger.

I saw Saphira tence up, and she seemed to try to block us out. She knew what I had intended by that question, and she wanted to keep Alpha out if he could do that. "Spahira... Come on... There's nothing to be scared of, I want to know about you, I care Saphira. Please don't try to hide within your own mind..." I pleaded with ehr, the truth being the only thing I spoke. I cared abotu her, and wanted to know what she was thinking. It wasn;' really my business, but I wasn't one to let that bother me.

"I'm not 'hiding within my own mind'," Saphira said, a bit sharper than she had intended to. "And, I've seen enough of this place." With that, she walked out of the room. Ice started coating the walls of the tunnel she had entered, and then melted away. Dammit!! Her pace quickened, and soon she was out in the open again.

Alone again.
